Overview
Gates in Pokemon Pokopia connect the game's five main areas. Each gate requires a specific Trainer Rank and completion of certain quests before it can be opened. There are six gates in total, with the final gate requiring full Pokedex completion.

Gate 1: Withered Wasteland to Rocky Ridges
Located northwest of the Withered Wasteland. This gate unlocks at Great Trainer Rank after completing the Yawn Up a Storm quest, which involves restoring rainfall to the wasteland and triggers a Kyogre encounter. Passing through this gate leads to Rocky Ridges, where you gain access to the Rollout move, the cooking system, and the Smelting Furnace.
Gate 2: Withered Wasteland to Bleak Beach
Located east of the Withered Wasteland, near the cliff areas. This gate also unlocks at Great Trainer Rank after the Yawn Up a Storm quest. It leads to Bleak Beach, where you gain the Surf move, access to iron ore, the Recycle specialty (via Trubbish), and the electricity system.
Gates 1 and 2 unlock at the same time, so you choose which area to visit first. See the "Should You Go to Bleak Beach or Rocky Ridges?" guide for a comparison.
Gate 3: Rocky Ridges to Sparkling Skylands
Located east of Rocky Ridges. This gate requires Ultra Trainer Rank and completion of both the Brighten Things Up quest (in Bleak Beach) and the Time to Party! quest (in Rocky Ridges). It leads to Sparkling Skylands.
Gate 4: Bleak Beach to Sparkling Skylands
Located north of Bleak Beach. This gate has the same requirements as Gate 3: Ultra Trainer Rank plus completion of both Brighten Things Up and Time to Party. It provides an alternative route into Sparkling Skylands.
Gate 5: Sparkling Skylands to Withered Wasteland
Located east of Sparkling Skylands. This gate requires Master Trainer Rank, obtained by completing the "Rebuild the Huge Building" quest, which involves constructing all four floors of the department store in Sparkling Skylands with the help of Tinkmaster. The first time you find this gate, it is covered by blocks that must be removed using Rock Smash.
Gate 6: Pokedex Completion Gate
Located northwest of Sparkling Skylands. This is the final gate and requires completing the entire Pokedex. Unlike the other gates, this one is hidden underground. You need to destroy blocks that make up the floor using Rock Smash to reach it. What lies beyond this gate is a reward for players who have befriended every Pokemon in the game.
Progression Order
Start in the Withered Wasteland; complete Yawn Up a Storm to reach Great Trainer Rank
Gates 1 and 2 open; visit Rocky Ridges and/or Bleak Beach
Complete Brighten Things Up (Bleak Beach) and Time to Party (Rocky Ridges) to reach Ultra Trainer Rank
Gates 3 and 4 open; enter Sparkling Skylands from either area
Rebuild the Huge Building in Sparkling Skylands to reach Master Trainer Rank
Gate 5 opens; creates a shortcut back to Withered Wasteland
Complete the Pokedex to unlock Gate 6, the final hidden gate
Tips
You do not need to choose between Rocky Ridges and Bleak Beach permanently. Both gates open at the same time and you can progress both areas simultaneously.
Gate 5 is blocked by rocks the first time you find it. Make sure you have the Rock Smash move ready.
Gate 6 is hidden underground, so look for breakable floor tiles northwest of Sparkling Skylands.
Reaching Master Trainer Rank by rebuilding the huge building also rewards you with a Master Ball on the rooftop.
