Overview
As of March 2026, inZOI does not have a pet ownership or pet care system. Zois cannot adopt, purchase, or keep animals as household companions. Animals appear in the game as city wildlife that spawns in outdoor areas, and Zois can perform limited interactions with certain animals (primarily cats). The game includes pet-related furniture in Build Mode, but these items are currently non-functional decorations.
City Wildlife
Various animals spawn in outdoor areas across the three playable cities. They roam freely as environmental elements and cannot be captured, tamed, or brought home.
Animal | Where Found | Interactable |
|---|---|---|
Cats (stray) | All cities, streets and alleys | Yes (limited) |
Dogs (stray) | All cities, parks and streets | Minimal |
Pandas | Specific park areas | No |
Deer | Wooded and park areas | No |
Raccoons | Urban areas, near trash | No |
Squirrels | Parks and trees | No |
Foxes | Wooded areas | No |
Crocodiles | Cahaya waterways | No |
Wildlife spawns and despawns based on time of day and location. Animals follow basic AI pathing and will flee if a Zoi runs directly at them.
Cat Interactions
Stray cats are the only animals that Zois can meaningfully interact with. When a Zoi approaches a stray cat, the following options may appear:
Action | Details |
|---|---|
Give Snack | Feed the cat a snack from the Zoi's inventory. The cat eats and stays nearby briefly. |
Feed Bamboo | Offer bamboo to the panda (not cats). Available in certain locations. |
Watch | Observe the cat. Passive interaction, no inventory item needed. |
These interactions are brief and do not create a lasting relationship. The cat does not follow the Zoi home or become a household member. Feeding a cat provides a small positive emotion boost to the Zoi.
Miatara Temple Cats
Miatara Temple on Cahaya features a concentration of cats that Zois can interact with. The temple area has more cat interactions available than typical street encounters. Visiting the temple and interacting with the cats there provides Social and Fun boosts. This is the most reliable location for cat interactions in the game.
Pet Furniture
Build Mode includes several pet-themed furniture items such as cat beds, food bowls, scratching posts, and dog houses. These items can be placed in homes as decorations, but they are non-functional. No animal will use them since there is no pet ownership system. They serve purely as decorative objects in home design.
Will Pets Be Added?
Pet ownership is one of the most frequently requested features on the official forums, Steam discussions, and community polls. The developers at Krafton's inZOI Studio have not confirmed or denied plans for a pet system. The existing pet furniture in Build Mode and the limited cat interaction system suggest the groundwork may exist for a future expansion, but nothing has been announced.
The inZOI roadmap focuses on new cities (Goldenfield, Winiber, Haegang, Recalleta, Brusimo) and gameplay system expansions, but does not specifically mention pets.
Tips
Visit Miatara Temple on Cahaya for the best cat interaction opportunities.
Keep snacks in inventory if you want to feed stray cats when you encounter them.
Pet furniture can be used as decorative items in home design even though animals won't interact with them.
Don't run directly at wildlife. Approach slowly or they will flee.
