Overview
Kucingku was the original internal name for inZOI's third playable world, a tropical archipelago released on August 20, 2025 as part of the free Island Getaway DLC. Before launch, KRAFTON renamed the location to Cahaya, but the Kucingku name remains widely recognized by the community and appears in early press coverage, developer presentations, and promotional materials.
The world is the first post-launch location added to inZOI, joining Dowon and Bliss Bay. It consists of three distinct islands connected by a water taxi service rather than roads or bridges, setting it apart from the two urban cities that shipped with the base game. Inspired by Bali, Lombok, and other Southeast Asian coastal destinations, Kucingku introduced an entirely new style of gameplay centered on resort life, ocean activities, farming, and exploration.
Name and Etymology
The word "Kucingku" comes from Indonesian and Malay. "Kucing" means "cat" and the suffix "-ku" means "my," so the full word translates to "My Cat." The name was chosen because the location has a large population of cats that roam freely across all three islands, especially around the Miatara Temple on the main island.

Prior to the name change, the location appeared as "Cahaya" in some early developer materials and press previews. "Cahaya" means "light" or "radiance" in Malay and Indonesian. KRAFTON ultimately settled on Cahaya as the official name ahead of the August 2025 Update, but the reasoning behind the switch was never formally explained. Community speculation points to Cahaya sounding more evocative of the tropical setting, while Kucingku was seen as a playful, niche reference that might not translate well across all markets.
Despite the rename, the Kucingku name stuck with a portion of the player base. Forum posts, early guides, and community discussions still use the name interchangeably with Cahaya. The name "Cahaya" was repurposed within the world itself and is associated with the temple and resort branding on the islands.
The Three Islands
The world is divided into three separate islands. Zois travel between them using a water taxi service that runs on a fixed schedule. There are no bridges or roads connecting the islands, which reinforces the vacation feel and distinguishes the location from the connected urban layouts of Dowon and Bliss Bay.
Main Island
The main island is the working heart of the archipelago. It has the most developed infrastructure of the three, with paths, vendor stalls, residential areas, farmland, and parks. Zois who live or work here can earn a living through farming, fishing, mining, and selling goods at market stalls. The farming plots on the main island are more space-efficient than standard garden plots in the base game, holding up to four crops simultaneously on a single dirt plot.
The Miatara Temple sits on the main island and is a spiritual landmark. Zois can visit the temple to draw fortunes from the Fortune Stick Tube (which costs ten Meow per use), submit wishes at the Wish Tree, and practice yoga. Fortune results are randomized and can either boost or worsen a Zoi's emotions. The temple grounds are home to the largest concentration of cats on the islands. Zois can interact with them, meditate alongside them, and occasionally receive gifts from them.
Mining spots are scattered across the main island's rocky terrain. Zois purchase pickaxes from the Farm Store in three tiers (stone, steel, and copper) and use them to extract raw materials such as iron, sodalite, silver, gold, and diamond. These raw materials can be refined at a crafting table into jewelry, which Zois can wear, display, or sell for Meow.
Resort Island
The Resort Island is centered around the Sri Lestari Resort, a luxury complex offering multiple accommodation tiers, spa services, poolside lounging, and beach activities. Zois can visit as day-trippers or check in for overnight stays.
The resort offers four accommodation options:
Accommodation | Description |
|---|---|
Garden Villa | Ground-level lodging surrounded by tropical vegetation. The most affordable paid option with garden views. |
Premier Ocean View Villa | Elevated lodging with direct sightlines to the ocean. Mid-tier pricing with premium views. |
Private Water Villa | Overwater bungalows built on stilts above the sea. Despite being the most exclusive-looking option, it is surprisingly affordable and offers direct water access from private decks. |
Deserted Island Accommodation | A rustic lodging option on the deserted island for Zois seeking a more adventurous experience. |
The resort island also provides access to swimming areas, snorkeling zones, and underwater exploration spots. Zois staying at the resort can satisfy their rest and fun needs simultaneously through the relaxation-focused environment.
Deserted Island
The third island is a wild, undeveloped landmass positioned between the main island and the resort island. Dense vegetation covers most of the terrain, and there are no permanent structures or services. The island is accessible by rented boat or water taxi, though travel may be restricted during poor weather conditions.
Gameplay on the deserted island focuses on exploration and resource gathering. Zois can search uncharted terrain, collect rare materials, and discover hidden treasures. After heavy storms, unique items and resources may wash ashore that are not available at other times, rewarding Zois who revisit the island after bad weather passes. The developers deliberately kept details about the island's secrets vague to encourage players to explore on their own.
Activities
The world introduced several new gameplay systems that apply across all of inZOI, not just the island location. These activities were bundled with the v0.3.0 base game update released alongside the Island Getaway DLC.
Activity | Details |
|---|---|
Swimming | Zois can swim in the ocean and pools. A new Swimming skill tracks proficiency. Low energy while swimming can lead to accidents. |
Snorkeling | Requires snorkeling gear purchased from island shops. Zois explore underwater coral reefs and encounter sea turtles, dolphins, sharks, and jellyfish. Diving ability improves as the Swimming skill increases. |
Surfing | Wave conditions around the islands support surfing. Zois need a surfboard from a local shop. |
Fishing | Coastline spots and ocean areas allow Fishing. Higher-quality rods increase the chances of catching rare fish. Catches can be sold or used in cooking. |
Farming | Dirt plots on the main island hold up to four crops at once. Zois use watering cans and rakes to tend their gardens. Harvested crops can be consumed, cooked, or sold at market stalls. |
Mining | Rocky areas on the main island yield iron, sodalite, silver, gold, and diamond. Three pickaxe tiers are available from the Farm Store. |
Jewel Crafting | A crafting table lets Zois refine raw minerals into rings, necklaces, and accessories in copper, silver, iron, gold, and diamond variants. Crafted items can be worn, displayed, or sold. |
Fortune Drawing | At Miatara Temple. Costs ten Meow per draw. Results randomly affect emotions and karma. |
Boating | Six boat types are available to rent. Zois can steer freely across the open water between islands. |
Cats
True to the "My Cat" meaning of the original name, the world is populated with cats as part of the animals system. Cats wander freely across all three islands, with the highest concentration around Miatara Temple. Zois can pet them, pick them up, watch them interact with each other, and use the "Meditate with Cat" interaction at the temple to sit alongside them.
Cats occasionally offer small gifts to Zois who interact with them. They are not adoptable as traditional household pets; instead, they function as a persistent, ambient part of the island's character. Their constant presence reinforces the thematic connection to the Kucingku name, even though the location was officially renamed.
Vehicles and Transportation
The Island Getaway update added 14 new vehicles to inZOI, including motorcycles, mopeds, and scooters. While these vehicles are usable across all locations, they were designed with the narrow island roads in mind and handle the terrain well.
Inter-island travel relies on the water taxi service, which runs on a fixed schedule and connects all three islands. Zois can also rent one of six boat types and steer freely across the open water, giving players direct control over ocean navigation.
Weather and Climate
The islands have a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round. Unlike Dowon, which experiences harsh winters, the archipelago never sees freezing conditions under normal circumstances. Rain falls periodically, fitting the tropical environment, and storms can affect travel to the deserted island.
The weather system still applies, but temperature-related health risks are minimal. Zois do not need heavy clothing here. Through Edit City mode, players can force unusual weather conditions like snow onto the islands for creative purposes.
Development History
The tropical world was first hinted at during inZOI's Early Access period, when dataminers and early developer roadmaps referenced a third playable location beyond Dowon and Bliss Bay. The location appeared under the name "Cahaya" in some of the earliest materials, suggesting that was the original working title before KRAFTON experimented with "Kucingku."
KRAFTON officially revealed the Island Getaway DLC during gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19, 2025, the evening before gamescom 2025 opened in Cologne, Germany. The trailer showcased the tropical setting under its final name, Cahaya. From August 20 to 24, KRAFTON operated an interactive booth at gamescom where fans could play hands-on demos of the new location.
The DLC launched the next day, August 20, 2025, as a free download for all inZOI owners. It arrived alongside the v0.3.0 base game update, which was one of the largest patches since Early Access launch. The update introduced swimming, fishing, farming, mining, jewel crafting, natural disasters, market stalls, item resale, loans, insurance, budget management, 56 new character customization items, and 104 new building options. Many of these features work across all three worlds, not just the island location.
The v0.3.0 patch also marked the macOS release of inZOI, broadening the game's platform availability. Ghost play was introduced in the same update, adding a supernatural gameplay layer that complemented the deserted island's mysterious tone.
Name Timeline
The naming history of the third world can be confusing because both names appeared in different contexts at different times. Below is a simplified timeline of how the naming evolved.
