Psycat
Psycat is the lilac Ragdoll cat who serves as the player's guide, cheat menu host, and AR Company supervisor in inZOI. This article covers her lore, in-game functions, all cheat console commands, Emergency Rescue, the cat's eye indicator, patch history, and community reception.
Overview
Psycat is a lilac bi-colour Ragdoll cat who serves as the player's main guide and supervisor at AR Company in inZOI. The name is a portmanteau of "psyche" (Greek for soul/spirit) and "cat," reflecting her role overseeing Zoi souls and karma. Psycat appears throughout the game as the primary source of tutorials, gameplay tips, cheat access, and emergency tools. She was known internally during development as "Psykhet."
Psycat has been central to inZOI's identity from the start, appearing in promotional materials, trailers, and the game's opening cutscene. At Gamescom 2024, KRAFTON built their entire booth to resemble the AR Company office, with a large physical recreation of Psycat hovering above the booth. The booth was immediately recognizable by the oversized Psycat figure descending from the ceiling, and a Samsung Display collaboration showcased 13 concept products recreated inside the game on the same show floor.
In gameplay terms, Psycat functions as a fourth-wall-breaking character. She is simultaneously a narrative figure inside the AR Company story and the player's direct interface for meta-level tools such as cheats, rescue commands, and customer support. This dual role gives her a unique position as both a lore character and a utility system.
Lore and Backstory
According to inZOI's lore, Psycat was originally a deity in the game's earliest mythology. The developers have jokingly described her as an "ex-god." She was rewritten as a supervisor at AR Company, the mysterious organization that oversees Zoi lives. Her role involves managing the karma system that determines what happens to Zois after death.
The mythology references run deep. Cupid's crush on Psycat mirrors the Greek myth of Cupid and Psyche, where Psyche (goddess of the soul) underwent trials to be with Cupid (god of love). This parallel is reflected in the game's narrative where Cupid, an AR Company cat employee, has a "not so secret" crush on Psycat.
The word "psyche" itself comes from Ancient Greek (ψυχή) and translates directly to "soul." In mythology, Psyche was a mortal princess whose beauty rivaled that of Aphrodite and who was eventually deified after completing a series of impossible tasks. Psycat's transformation from deity to corporate supervisor loosely parallels this idea of divine power being reframed into a more mundane role.
AR Company
AR Company is the fictional virtual reality firm that serves as the game's meta-narrative framing device. Within the lore, AR Company works on a project called "inZOI" itself (the game within the game). Players take on the role of the company's newest intern, overseeing and managing virtual people called Zois.
AR Company Staff
Character | Role | Details |
|---|---|---|
Psycat | Supervisor | Lilac bi-colour Ragdoll cat. The player's direct boss. Oversees souls and the karma system. |
Bora | Intern (the player) | New hire at AR Company. The opening cutscene shows Bora arriving at 3:00 PM, meeting Psycat in the lobby, being led to the elevator and then to her desk. |
Henri | HR Manager | Introduces the company and explains the intern's responsibilities. Warns about consequences of mismanaging Zois' karma. |
Cupid | Colleague | A cat described as among "the kindest colleagues." Has a major crush on Psycat. References the Cupid and Psyche myth. |
Nyx | Afterlife manager | A black cat that manages Zois in the afterlife. Appears only as a notification when a Zoi dies. Introduces itself as "the cat in charge of the afterlife journey of Zoi" and explains the ghost state to the player. |
Zeno | CEO | Head of AR Company. Players must meet with Zeno if city karma drops critically low. Was accessible in early playtests but removed from AR Talk menus in Early Access. |
Accessing Psycat's Guide
Psycat's Guide is accessed by clicking the book icon with a question mark, located in the bottom-right corner of the screen during Live Mode. The guide opens a panel that contains several tools organized into distinct sections. On the left side of the panel, the Quick Money button and Emergency Rescue button are always visible. The main body of the panel contains tutorial pages covering character creation, game rules, building tips, and gameplay mechanics.
Enabling Cheats
The Enable Cheats toggle sits in the lower-left corner of the Psycat's Guide panel. Activating it triggers a warning message stating that enabling cheats "may trigger certain unwanted effects." Once confirmed, the cheat console becomes available through the Ctrl + Shift + C keyboard shortcut. In Build Mode, a separate "Psycat's Help" button provides building-specific tips and furniture placement guidance.
It is important to note that Psycat's Guide is only accessible when a Zoi is selected and the game is in Live Mode. The guide does not appear in City Edit mode or on the main menu. The Customer Support button inside the guide opens a direct link to KRAFTON's official support resources, allowing players to file bug reports and request help without leaving the game.
In-Game Functions
Psycat provides several essential tools through her menu. The following table summarizes each function, how to access it, and what it does.
Function | How to Access | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
Psycat's Guide | Book icon with question mark in the UI | Opens a help menu with tutorials covering character creation, game rules, building tips, placement mechanics (hold ALT to ignore grid snapping), and karma system introduction. |
Quick Money | Button inside Psycat's Guide menu | Adds 100,000 Mew to the active family. Can be pressed repeatedly with no limit. Works without enabling the full cheat console. |
Emergency Rescue | Button below Quick Money in Psycat's Guide | Teleports a stuck Zoi out of their current situation. Fixes pathfinding bugs and stuck states. See detailed section below. |
Enable Cheats | Toggle inside Psycat's Guide | Enables the cheat console. A warning appears that enabling cheats "may trigger certain unwanted effects." After enabling, press Ctrl+Shift+C to open the command input. |
Customer Support | Button inside Psycat's Guide | Opens a link to official customer support resources for bug reports and gameplay assistance. |
AR Talk | Chat window during Live Mode | Psycat sends contextual tips and observations about your Zois' lives, moods, and needs. |
Build Mode Help | Psycat's Help button in Build Mode | Provides building tips and furniture placement guidance, including ALT-key placement for ignoring grid snapping. |
Emergency Rescue
Emergency Rescue is one of Psycat's most useful tools, designed to fix Zois who become stuck in furniture, walls, or impossible pathfinding situations. It is far faster than reloading a save file and preserves all unsaved progress.
Step-by-step:
Click the book icon (Psycat's Guide) in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Click the red "Emergency Rescue" button in the bottom-left of the menu.
The game enters a special X-ray camera mode that allows seeing through walls and objects.
Rotate the camera to locate the stuck Zoi. You can also use the family roster sidebar or press Spacebar to cycle through family members.
Click on the stuck Zoi.
A warning appears that resuming gameplay "might interrupt the flow of the game." Confirm.
Unpause the game. The Zoi teleports to a safe nearby location (typically a sidewalk or building path).
Emergency Rescue fixes:
Zois trapped inside furniture (couches, beds, tables)
Zois phased through building structures or walls
Zois stuck inside cars or other vehicles
Zois stuck in animation loops that cannot be cancelled
Zois refusing to leave beds despite having full energy
Zois stuck underground after surfing or swimming
Zois trapped in inaccessible areas due to deleted doors or stairs
Zois frozen in place after a cancelled social interaction
The X-ray camera mode used during Emergency Rescue is unique to this function. It strips away walls, roofs, and furniture to show Zoi silhouettes. This is especially helpful when a Zoi has clipped inside a wall or fallen below the terrain, since they would otherwise be invisible with normal camera controls.
Cat's Eye Indicator
Every player-controlled Zoi has a glowing "cat's eye" icon floating above their head. This marker distinguishes player Zois from NPC Zois in the world and makes it easy to locate your active household members in crowded areas or from a zoomed-out camera angle.
The cat's eye icon is styled after Psycat's eye and serves as a constant visual reminder that the player (working under Psycat at AR Company) is observing and guiding the Zoi. Players who prefer a more immersive, observation-style experience can hide the indicator using the cheat command hideCatEye true. To restore it, use hideCatEye false. This command requires the cheat console to be enabled through Psycat's Guide first.
Cheat Console
After enabling cheats through Psycat's Guide, press Ctrl + Shift + C to open the cheat command input. The text input appears at the top of the screen. Type a command and press Enter to execute it. The Quick Money button (100,000 Mew per click) works without enabling the full cheat console.
Some commands take arguments in square brackets, such as a Zoi ID number, a skill name, or a true/false toggle. Use the showZoiInfo true command to display each Zoi's ID and coordinates above their head, which is necessary for commands that target a specific Zoi.

Karma System Connection
Psycat's oversight connects to the karma system through the Soul Management Report, accessible via City Edit > Manage Zois > Karma Report. This report tracks citywide karma and individual Zoi karma levels. The Soul Management Report also displays a list of all deceased Zois along with their karma level at the time of death.
Player Intervention
Every 24 in-game hours, players can intervene with individual Zois through the karma system:
Action | Availability | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Scolding | Terrible karma Zois | Resets the Zoi's karma back to Neutral. |
Complimenting | Excellent karma Zois | Gives rewards. An "Anonymous Supporter" text message appears on the Zoi's phone with three reward options. |
CEO Meeting Consequence
When city-wide karma drops critically low (the Karma Report leans heavily toward "Terrible"), the player must participate in an interview with the CEO, Zeno, outside the inZOI city. Henri explains during the tutorial that players "must meet with Zeno if they mismanage their Zois' lives and karma scores." This is a narrative consequence for poor karma management.
Patch History
Psycat and her associated systems have been adjusted across several major updates:

Community Reception
Player reception of Psycat and her in-game guide has been mixed. On the Steam Community forums, several players praised the Emergency Rescue tool as invaluable for fixing stuck Zois, while others found the AR Talk notifications too frequent and intrusive. One common complaint is that Psycat's Guide covers only basic mechanics and does not explain more advanced gameplay systems in sufficient depth, such as how to use street-side post boxes or manage complex household routines.
The removal of Psycat's karma alerts in patch v0.1.6 was generally well received. Players reported that the alerts felt judgmental and broke immersion during normal gameplay. However, a minority of players expressed that they missed the alerts because they provided useful reminders about declining city karma. Some players also noted that the karma-triggered alerts would still occasionally appear after the patch when receiving Meow coins, suggesting the removal was not fully comprehensive at launch.
Psycat as a Mascot
As a mascot, Psycat has a strong positive reception. Her design is widely recognized in the inZOI community, and the Gamescom 2024 booth recreation was a popular photo spot. Community artists frequently create fan art featuring Psycat, and her mythology-inspired backstory has been a point of interest for players who enjoy the game's lore. Veterans of other life simulation games have compared Psycat's role to the tutorial system in The Sims series, noting that experienced players tend to skip the guide entirely while newcomers find it helpful as a starting point.
Tips
The Quick Money button is the fastest way to get cash. 100,000 Mew per click with no limit, and it works without enabling the full cheat console.
Use Emergency Rescue if a Zoi gets stuck in furniture, walls, or impossible pathfinding situations. It is much faster than reloading a save and preserves all unsaved progress.
AR Talk tips from Psycat during Live Mode often hint at Zoi needs you might be missing. Pay attention to her messages, especially early in a playthrough.
The name "Psycat" connects to Greek mythology. Psyche was the goddess of the soul, reflecting Psycat's role overseeing Zoi souls and karma.
Psycat's Guide is the best place to learn game mechanics you may have missed during the tutorial, though experienced players may find external guides more comprehensive for advanced topics.
Use showZoiInfo true before running cheat commands that require a Zoi ID. The ID number appears above each Zoi's head and is needed for commands like getBabyWith, setRelationshipFull, and CustomZoi.
The hideCatEye true command removes the floating cat's eye indicator above your Zoi for a cleaner, more immersive screenshot or gameplay experience.
Save your game before using destructive cheats like apocalypseTheWorld or removeZoi. These cannot be reversed except by reloading a save file.
The EnableFreeCamera cheat is useful for cinematic screenshots and recording. It detaches the camera from all Zois and allows free movement through the world.
If the cheat console does not appear after pressing Ctrl + Shift + C, check that you have a Zoi selected, are in Live Mode, and have toggled Enable Cheats inside Psycat's Guide first.
