Overview
The Miatara Temple, commonly called the Cat Temple, is a sacred location in the northeast section of the resort island in Cahaya. It was introduced with the Island Getaway DLC and serves as a spiritual and cultural landmark where Zois can pray, make offerings to cats, meditate, practice yoga, and submit wishes. The temple promotes tranquility and inner calm, and cats are considered sacred within its grounds.
Location
Miatara Temple sits northeast of the Sri Lestari Resort on the resort island. It is accessible on foot or by vehicle from the resort area. The temple complex is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, and the path leading to it is marked with cat-themed signage.
Etymology
The name Miatara draws from Sanskrit roots. "Maya" translates to magic, while "Tara" means star or guidance. Together, Miatara can be interpreted as "Magic Star" or "Magic Guidance." The name may also reference Maitara Island in North Maluku, Indonesia, reflecting the DLC's Southeast Asian and Indonesian cultural inspirations.
Temple layout
The Miatara Temple complex is divided into three distinct sections:
Section | Location | Key Features |
|---|---|---|
Miatara Temple | Left side of complex | Guardian Cats, Guardian Statue with Incense Burner, offering podium |
Supelaem Building | Right side of complex | Yoga space with mats, indoor meditation area |
Temple Souvenir Shop | Top-left of complex | Sells Cat Treats and Catnip Candy |
Activities
Burn incense and pray
At the Guardian Statue in the main temple area, Zois can interact with the Incense Burner to burn incense and pray. This is a short meditative action that provides a mood boost and reduces stress. The Guardian Statue is flanked by Guardian Cat sculptures, and the atmosphere is serene.
Cat offerings
Zois can make offerings to the temple cats by purchasing items from the Temple Souvenir Shop and presenting them at the offering podium beneath the Incense Burner. The process is:
Visit the Temple Souvenir Shop in the top-left area of the complex.
Buy a Cat Treat or Catnip Candy.
Return to the main temple and interact with the offering podium beneath the Guardian Statue.
Place the treat on the podium as an offering.
Successful offerings reward the Zoi with Karma, a spiritual currency tracked by the game. Karma accumulation is tied to positive actions and may influence future events and interactions.
Meditation with cats
The temple grounds are home to many free-roaming cats, and Zois can sit among them to meditate. During meditation, cats wander around and sometimes sit near the meditating Zoi, adding to the calming effect. This activity reduces stress and improves the Zoi's emotional state, focusing on inner peace and contentment. See the Spa and Wellness article for more on how meditation fits into the overall wellness system.
Wish Tree
Near the temple, a Wish Tree allows Zois to submit wishes. Players can write a wish and attach it to the tree. While the mechanical effects of wishes are subtle, the act of wishing provides a small mood boost and ties into the temple's spiritual theme.
Yoga at Supelaem
The Supelaem building on the right side of the complex has a dedicated yoga area with mats. Zois can practice yoga here to improve flexibility and mental clarity. This is one of several yoga locations in Cahaya, with others found at the basketball courts and other public spaces.
Cultural significance
Cats are treated as sacred beings at Miatara Temple. They roam freely throughout the complex and are well cared for by the temple. This design draws from real-world Southeast Asian and Islamic cultural traditions where cats are respected and protected. The temple's focus on meditation, offerings, and spiritual reflection adds a layer of cultural depth to the Cahaya region that contrasts with the resort-focused entertainment on the rest of the island.
Tips
Buy multiple Cat Treats and Catnip Candy in one trip to the souvenir shop so you can make several offerings without going back and forth.
Meditation with cats provides one of the strongest non-spa stress reductions in the game. Combine it with yoga at Supelaem for a full wellness session.
Visit the temple in the early morning for fewer NPC crowds and a quieter atmosphere.
The Wish Tree is easy to miss. Look for it near the outer edge of the temple grounds, away from the main statue area.
