Peanut is a legume crop in Starsand Island described in-game as "legume crops rich in high-quality fats and proteins; eating peanuts often brings good fortune!" It becomes available once you earn the Apprentice Farmer certification from Graminova. Peanut is one of twelve all-season crops that grow year-round, making it a dependable income source regardless of the calendar.

With a gold-per-day return of roughly 46.8 g/day, Peanut is the most profitable single-harvest crop in the Apprentice Farmer tier. Its all-season availability means you can plant it the moment you unlock Apprentice and keep harvesting it continuously without worrying about seasonal transitions. Peanuts can also be processed into Cooking Oil at the Brewing Barrel and are used as an ingredient in several tiers of Ripening Fertilizer.

Peanut Seeds are purchased from the Happiness Seed Shop for 80g each after you reach the Apprentice Farmer tier. The shop stocks up to 20 Peanut Seeds per refresh cycle. Because Peanut is an all-season crop, seeds are relevant to buy at any time of year.
You can also produce your own Peanut Seeds using the Grinder, which converts 2 Peanuts into 1 Peanut Seeds packet. The Grinder unlocks at the Senior Farmer tier. Once you reach that level, setting aside 2 Peanuts from each harvest for the Grinder lets you replant without buying seeds from the shop.
Peanuts grow on regular tilled farmland or in planting boxes. They do not require a trellis, paddy field, or any other specialized structure. To plant Peanuts, till a plot of soil with your Hoe, select Peanut Seeds from your inventory, and place them on the tilled tile.
Once planted, Peanuts take 3 days and 6 hours (3.25 real-time days) to fully mature. You need to water them daily using your Watering Can, or set up sprinklers to automate the process. Because Peanuts grow in all four seasons, you never have to worry about them withering from a seasonal transition. This is one of their biggest advantages over season-locked crops.
Peanut is a single-harvest crop. After you pick the 4 Peanuts, the plant is consumed and you must replant from seed. This differs from trellis crops like Cucumber that produce multiple harvests from a single planting.
Tip: Since Peanuts grow year-round, you can plant a fresh batch immediately after every harvest without any downtime between seasons.
Tip: Use Ripening Fertilizer to speed up the 3.25-day growth cycle. A single application of Ripening Fertilizer III shaves off 25 hours, cutting the growth time significantly.
The base sell price for Peanut is 58g per unit. Since each harvest produces 4 Peanuts, a single harvest sells for 232g at base quality. Higher-quality Peanuts sell for more. Quality is influenced by the fertilizer you use and random chance during growth.
You can sell Peanuts at Zerine's General Store at the prices listed below. For even higher returns, sell to the Merchant Ship when it docks at Starsand Port every Monday, as it pays 200% of the normal sell price for all items.
Selling Method | Price per Unit | Revenue per Harvest (x4) |
|---|---|---|
Base Quality (Zerine's Store) | 58g | 232g |
Merchant Ship (2x price) | 116g | 464g |
Peanut is the highest gold-per-day single-harvest crop in the Apprentice Farmer tier. The calculation below uses base sell prices and purchased seeds. For a full comparison across all tiers, see the Crop Profitability Rankings article.
Metric | Value |
|---|---|
Seed Cost | 80g |
Sell Price per Unit | 58g |
Yield | 4 units |
Revenue per Harvest | 232g (58 x 4) |
Profit per Harvest | 152g (232 - 80) |
Growth Time | 3.25 days |
Gold per Day | 46.8 g/day |
Crop | Seed Cost | Sell Price | Growth Time | Profit/Harvest | Gold/Day |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Peanut | 80g | 58g | 3d 6h | 152g | 46.8 g/day |
95g | 66g | 2 days | 169g (2 harvests) | 42.3 g/day | |
60g | 32g | 2 days | 68g | 34.0 g/day | |
60g | 27g | 1d 12h | 48g | 32.0 g/day | |
80g | 37g | 2d 12h | 68g | 27.2 g/day |
Peanut leads the Apprentice tier at 46.8 gold per day, ahead of Cucumber (42.3 g/day) and Potato (34.0 g/day). While Cucumber earns more total profit per seed thanks to its multi-harvest mechanic, Peanut's higher per-day rate makes it the better choice for raw income when you replant promptly after each harvest. Both Peanut and Cucumber are all-season crops, so the choice between them comes down to whether you prefer the set-and-forget multi-harvest style (Cucumber with a trellis) or the slightly higher daily return of single-harvest Peanuts.
The Merchant Ship pays 200% of normal sell price. A single Peanut harvest sold to the Merchant Ship yields 464g (116g x 4) instead of 232g. After subtracting the 80g seed cost, that is 384g profit per harvest, or roughly 118.2 g/day. Timing your harvests to align with the ship's Monday visits can more than double your income from Peanuts.
Peanut is primarily a processing crop rather than a direct cooking ingredient. Its main use beyond selling is producing Cooking Oil at the Brewing Barrel.
Product | Ingredients | Sell Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
1x Peanut | 60g | Used as ingredient in many cooking recipes |
Cooking Oil is a condiment used in a wide variety of cooking recipes. Since Cooking Oil sells for 60g and requires only 1 Peanut (worth 58g raw), the direct profit from processing is minimal. However, if you use the Cooking Oil in higher-value recipes rather than selling it outright, the effective value per Peanut increases substantially. Cooking Oil can also be purchased cheaply from the Aureleaf Kitchen, so growing Peanuts specifically for oil is only worthwhile if you need large quantities.
Machine | Input | Output | Unlocked At |
|---|---|---|---|
2x Peanut | 1x Peanut Seeds | Senior Farmer |
Using the Grinder to produce your own seeds eliminates the 80g seed cost on subsequent plantings. Once you reach Senior Farmer, setting aside 2 Peanuts from each harvest for the Grinder means you effectively replant for free. This boosts the profit per harvest from 152g to 232g minus the 2 sacrificed Peanuts (116g opportunity cost), netting 116g per cycle, or roughly 35.7 g/day. The raw math is slightly lower than buying seeds because you lose the sell value of 2 Peanuts, but you save the 80g purchase price. If Yield Fertilizer pushes your harvest above 4 units, the extra Peanuts are pure profit on top.
Peanut is listed as an ingredient in Ripening Fertilizer III, IV, and V, which are crafted at the Fertilizer Box. Ripening Fertilizer speeds up crop growth, with tier III cutting 25 hours off a crop's growth time per application. This creates a useful feedback loop: grow Peanuts, use some to craft Ripening Fertilizer, and apply that fertilizer to speed up your next batch of Peanuts or other slow-growing crops.
Like all crops in Starsand Island, Peanut has an everlasting seed variant. Everlasting Peanut Seeds produce a plant that regrows after every harvest without needing to replant. This eliminates both the seed cost and the time spent tilling and planting, turning Peanuts into a passive income source.
There is also a rarer Immortal variant. Since Peanut already grows in all seasons, Immortal Peanut Seeds offer no seasonal advantage over everlasting ones. Their primary benefit is the higher rarity tier and any associated bonuses.
Methods for obtaining everlasting and immortal seeds include:
Mirthshroom Soup: Eating this soup grants the Creamy Seeds buff. While active, harvesting any crop has a chance to drop everlasting or immortal seeds. Stacking 5 soups maximizes the drop rate.
Eternal Blessings: A Workpedia skill available at the Senior Farmer tier. Provides a permanent passive chance to receive everlasting crops when harvesting. Can be upgraded with Starsand Points.
Treasure Chests: Found on the surface island and in the Moonlit Forest. Some chests contain everlasting or immortal seeds.
Islandpedia Rewards: Completing certain Islandpedia milestones rewards everlasting seeds.
If you dig up an everlasting or immortal crop with a pickaxe, the seed is refunded to your inventory. You never lose it, which lets you freely relocate crops as your farm layout changes.

Since Graminova loves Peanuts, gifting him a few is a convenient way to build friendship while visiting the Happiness Seed Shop to buy more seeds. Squirrel is another notable recipient, so keep some Peanuts handy if you are working on that friendship.
Peanut's all-season growth means zero downtime between harvests. As soon as you pick one batch, replant immediately. Over a full in-game year you can fit roughly 28 harvests per plot (assuming 3.25 days each across four 28-day seasons), yielding about 4,256g profit per plot at base prices.
At the Apprentice tier, Peanut is your best single-harvest gold-per-day option. If you do not yet have a Trellis for Cucumbers, Peanut should be your primary crop.
Selling to the Merchant Ship on Monday at 200% price is the single biggest profit multiplier. Stockpile Peanuts in a chest and sell the entire batch when the ship arrives.
Consider using sprinklers on your Peanut fields. Automating the daily watering saves significant effort, especially when running dozens of plots.
Once you unlock the Grinder at Senior Farmer, you can produce your own seeds from 2 Peanuts. This is most valuable when combined with Yield Fertilizer that pushes your harvest above the base 4 units.
Keep a small Peanut reserve for crafting Ripening Fertilizer. The fertilizer's ability to shave hours off growth times is particularly useful for slow-growing crops like fruit trees and Expert-tier plants.
