Challenges are community-created gameplay goals with self-imposed rules that add structure and replayability to inZOI. Rooted in the life-simulation tradition, these rulesets give players a clear objective beyond open-ended sandbox play. Whether you want to build a dynasty across ten generations, climb out of poverty, or see how many babies one household can produce, challenges offer a focused way to experience the game's systems.
Most challenges in inZOI are adapted from the broader life-sim community, with rules adjusted for inZOI's specific mechanics such as Meow currency, Desired Lives, and the Psycat cheat console. In addition to community-created rulesets, inZOI offers an official Random Challenge generator on its website that creates procedural story prompts for your Zoi.
This guide covers the most popular challenges, their rules, and practical advice for playing them in inZOI. For general gameplay advice, see the Beginner's Guide and Tips and Tricks articles.
Challenge | Goal | Difficulty | Key Mechanic |
|---|---|---|---|
Play 10 generations of a single family line | Medium | ||
Rags to Riches | Start with 0 Meow and buy a house | Hard | |
Black Widow | Marry wealthy Zois and take their money | Medium | |
100 Baby | Have 100 children in as few generations as possible | Hard | |
Random Challenge | Follow procedurally generated story prompts | Varies | Official website generator |
The Legacy Challenge is one of the most well-known rulesets in the life-simulation genre. The objective is to create a single Zoi and build a family that spans ten consecutive generations. Each generation brings new goals, new relationships, and a growing household that tests your ability to manage careers, finances, and family dynamics over the long term.

Create a single Zoi in Create a Zoi. Choose a Young Adult to maximize the time available for finding a partner and starting a family.
Select a large empty lot for your family home. You will build on this lot across all ten generations, expanding as the family grows.
Build a small starter house with the basics: a bed, a toilet, a shower, a fridge, and a stove. Save your remaining Meow for future expansions.
Play one generation at a time. Switch control to the heir once they reach Young Adult age.
Each generation must produce at least one child who becomes the next heir.
You may choose any heir selection method: firstborn, youngest, player's choice, or random.
The family must remain on the same lot for all ten generations. Expand the house as needed, but never move to a new lot.
No cheats (including the Psycat money cheat) unless the rules you follow specifically allow them.
Each generation's Zoi should pursue a different career to keep gameplay varied.
The Life of Familial Devotion Desired Life grants the Volunteer and Collaborator traits, along with skills in cooking, housework, and parenting. It is an excellent pick for at least one generation.
Use the family tree feature to track your lineage across generations.
Expanding the house floor by floor is cheaper than demolishing and rebuilding. Plan vertical additions using foundations and basements.
Vary your Desired Lives each generation to unlock different skill trees and keep the challenge from feeling repetitive.
Take advantage of inheritance to pass wealth and items between generations.
The Rags to Riches challenge is one of the most popular rulesets among life-sim players. You start your Zoi with absolutely nothing and work your way up to buying a home. It is a true test of resourcefulness, since inZOI does not have a built-in poverty mechanic and Zois begin with a generous amount of starting funds that must be removed before the challenge can begin.
Create any Zoi and move them into the largest empty lot you can find.
Your Zoi starts with approximately 50,000 Meow. You need to drain all of it. Open Build Mode and purchase the most expensive items available. Once your funds hit zero, store every purchased item in your inventory without placing or using them.
Alternatively, use the Psycat cheat console and type /setmoney 0 to set your funds to zero directly. Some players consider this acceptable since it simply speeds up the setup process.
Once you have 0 Meow and no usable furniture, the challenge officially begins.
You cannot use any furniture or objects you purchased during the setup phase. They must stay in your inventory untouched.
Earn money only through legitimate means: jobs, selling found or crafted items, or using the Pocket Market app.
Rely on public facilities for basic needs. Use public restrooms, park benches, and other Zois' homes for sleeping, eating, and showering.
No cheats after the initial setup (if you used the /setmoney shortcut).
The challenge is complete when you can afford to buy a house and furnish it with at least the essentials: a bed, toilet, shower, fridge, and stove.
Public parks and community lots are your best friends early on. They provide free access to benches for napping and public restrooms.
The Gathering skill lets you collect items from the world that can be sold for Meow.
Check the Money Making Guide for the most efficient early income strategies without cheats.
Some players note that inZOI's economy makes true poverty difficult, since a social benefit of 2,000 Meow is granted when your balance hits zero. Factor this into your rules if you want a stricter experience.
Part-time jobs are a good starting point since they do not require job interviews.
The Black Widow Challenge is a morally devious ruleset that puts romance and manipulation at the center of gameplay. Your Zoi must seduce wealthy partners, marry them, take their money, and then end the relationship through divorce or more sinister means. It is a darker take on the life-sim experience that tests your mastery of the relationship system.
Create a Young Adult female Zoi. (Some community rulesets allow any gender; adjust to your preference.)
Consider selecting the Life of Abundance Desired Life, which grants the Socialite and Go-Getter traits along with the Charm skill. Charm is essential for building romantic relationships quickly.
Start the game normally. Your initial 50,000 Meow can be kept or spent on a modest home.
You may only earn money through gifts from romantic partners. Sell gifts using your Bag or the Pocket Market app.
No taking a job or earning money through any other means.
Find a wealthy male Zoi, build a romantic relationship to True Love status, and propose marriage.
Once married, you gain control over your partner and their finances.
Complete the cycle by divorcing your partner or, for the full Black Widow experience, causing their death.
Repeat with new partners. The challenge ends when you decide you have accumulated enough wealth, or you can set a target number of partners.
Wealthy Zois tend to appear in upscale locations. Try Lounge Gongmyeong in Dowon or the Lumiere Art Gallery in Bliss Bay.
The Charm skill accelerates romantic interactions significantly. Level it early for faster relationship building.
Pay attention to the Jealousy and Infidelity system if you are pursuing multiple partners simultaneously.
Use social events like dinner parties to meet potential targets in a natural setting.
The 100 Baby Challenge is a legendary life-sim ruleset that has been played across multiple games in the genre. The goal is simple but grueling: have 100 children in as few generations as possible. InZOI's pregnancy and household management systems make this a demanding test of multitasking, with the eight-Zoi household cap creating a constant cycle of aging up children and making room for the next baby.
Create a Young Adult Zoi (the Matriarch or Patriarch) and move them into a large lot.
Build or buy a home with enough space for a big family: multiple bedrooms, several bathrooms, and a large kitchen.
Begin finding romantic partners and having children.
The founding Zoi must have as many children as possible before aging into an Elder.
When the founding Zoi can no longer have children, the youngest eligible child becomes the next Matriarch/Patriarch and continues the challenge.
Households in inZOI are capped at eight Zois. Children must age up and move out to make room for new babies.
Currently, only heterosexual couples can conceive in inZOI. Both partners must be part of a married couple and use the "Suggest Having a Baby" option in the Romance interaction menu.
No hiring nannies or using cheats to speed up aging or add money.
Keep track of your baby count manually or through a spreadsheet. The challenge is complete at 100 children born.
Managing needs for a full household is the biggest challenge. Prioritize high-quality furniture that restores needs faster.
The Life of Familial Devotion Desired Life is a natural fit, boosting parenting-related skills.
Use the aging and life span settings to adjust life stages. Longer Young Adult and Adult stages give each generation more time to produce children.
Keep a large supply of cooked meals in the fridge so Zois do not waste time cooking individually. Leveling the Cooking skill helps with meal quality and batch sizes.
Streamers on Twitch have been playing this challenge in inZOI since Early Access, confirming it is fully possible with the game's current mechanics.
Unlike the community-created challenges above, the Random Challenge is an official feature provided by KRAFTON through the inZOI website. It generates procedural story prompts that you can follow to create a structured narrative for your Zoi. This is a great option for players who want guided gameplay without committing to a rigid ruleset.
Visit the official inZOI website at playinzoi.com.
Hover over the "Events" tab in the navigation bar.
Click "Random Challenge" from the dropdown menu.
Use the dice icon next to each category to generate new prompts. Click the generate button to create a fresh set of challenges.
The Random Challenge generator is divided into four categories. You can mix and match prompts from each category to build a complete story template for your Zoi.
Category | What It Generates |
|---|---|
Character Creation | Random appearance themes, personality traits, career backgrounds, and backstory elements for a new Zoi |
City | Tasks tied to your city's theme, climate, vibe, layout, and the types of resources and opportunities available |
Home | Property assignments and interior design themes that shape how your Zoi's living space should look and function |
Simulations and Situations | Random life scenarios such as losing a job, starting or ending a relationship, facing a financial crisis, or dealing with unexpected events |
The "Simulations and Situations" category generates the most gameplay-intensive prompts. Start there if you want immediate action rather than setup tasks.
Combine a Character Creation prompt with a Simulations and Situations prompt for a complete self-contained challenge.
Each click of the generate button produces an entirely new script, so you can re-roll until you find a scenario that interests you.
There is no enforcement mechanism in the game itself. The prompts are honor-system goals you follow at your own pace.
The challenges listed above are just the most popular examples. InZOI's open-ended gameplay supports virtually any self-imposed ruleset. Here are some ideas for designing your own:
Career Completion Challenge: Complete every career in the game with a single Zoi or across a family.
Skill Master Challenge: Max out every skill available in the game.
No-Buy Challenge: Never purchase furniture from the catalog. Only use found, gifted, or crafted items.
Off-the-Grid Challenge: Live without electricity or plumbing for as long as possible.
Single Income Challenge: Support a large family on one Zoi's salary alone. See the Career Salary Guide for the best-paying options.
When designing a custom challenge, start by identifying which game system you want to focus on (economy, relationships, building, careers) and then create restrictions that force creative problem-solving around that system. Share your rulesets with the community through the official inZOI forums or social media to get others involved.
A financial endurance challenge. Your Zoi must pay every bill on time through legitimate income, with no shortcuts.
Raise a child as a single parent while maintaining a career. This challenge puts pressure on time management and need balancing.
Build a crime organization from the ground up. This challenge takes advantage of InZOI's criminal career paths and underworld mechanics.
Max every skill on a single Zoi. This is a pure grind challenge that tests patience and efficient time management.
Own and successfully operate every type of business available in the game simultaneously.
