Overview
Pregnancy in inZOI lasts 3 in-game days and progresses through three visible stages. It requires a specific action separate from intimacy, is not guaranteed on the first attempt, and produces a newborn that ages into a Toddler after 1 day. The system has received updates since launch. Earlier versions required marriage, but later patches allow children regardless of marital status. Only female Zois can become pregnant in the current Early Access build.
Requirements
For a pregnancy attempt to be possible, several conditions must be met:

The couple must have a strong romantic relationship. Casual acquaintances cannot attempt pregnancy.
The household must have fewer than 8 members. At maximum family capacity, pregnancies automatically fail.
Only female Zois can become pregnant. Same-sex male couples and same-sex female couples where neither is the birth parent cannot use this system.
Both Zois must be at the Adult life stage or older.
Marriage was originally required, but this restriction was loosened in a subsequent update. Unmarried couples with a strong enough romantic bond can now have children.
Initiating pregnancy
Pregnancy is initiated through a dedicated action, not through the general intimacy interaction. To start:
Click on the partner Zoi.
Select More, then navigate to the Romance category.
Choose "Suggest Having a Baby."
The couple typically moves to a bedroom. Success is not guaranteed. The game rolls a probability check, and failure means the Zoi simply did not conceive. Multiple attempts may be necessary. There is no visible probability number or fertility stat.
Confirming pregnancy
When conception succeeds, a red exclamation mark appears on the female Zoi's portrait icon. Click it to prompt the Zoi to take a pregnancy test. She will walk to a toilet, use it, and a notification will confirm or deny the pregnancy. Until the test is taken, pregnancy is not officially confirmed in the game's records.
Pregnancy stages
The 3-day pregnancy divides into three distinct stages, each lasting approximately one in-game day:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
Early stage (day 1) | The belly is barely visible. The Zoi gains access to the "Announce Pregnancy" interaction, which can be used on friends and family members. Emotions may fluctuate more than usual. |
Middle stage (day 2) | The belly becomes noticeably rounded. Food cravings appear as contextual desires. The Zoi may autonomously seek out specific meals or snacks. |
Late stage (day 3) | The belly reaches full size. Movement may slow slightly. The Zoi is visibly pregnant to other Zois, who may react or comment during conversation. |
Throughout all three stages, appearance editing is disabled. The player cannot change the Zoi's clothing, hair, or body through the character creation editor until after the birth.
Special pregnancy interactions
Announce Pregnancy: Share the news with another Zoi. The recipient reacts based on their relationship with the pregnant Zoi.
Food cravings: The pregnant Zoi develops cravings for specific foods. Satisfying a craving provides a mood boost. Ignoring it does not cause harm, but the Zoi may be irritable.
Giving birth
After 3 in-game days, a Give Birth prompt appears. The player chooses between two options:

Hospital birth: The Zoi travels to the hospital. A cutscene plays, and the baby is delivered with a naming prompt.
On-site birth: The Zoi gives birth at their current location. This also triggers a cutscene and naming prompt.
If the Give Birth prompt is missed or dismissed, the birth still happens, but no cutscene plays and no immediate baby naming screen appears. The newborn simply shows up in the household crib. The name can be set later through the Zoi's profile.
The newborn
The newborn appears in a crib in the household. A trait is randomly assigned at birth. Physical features like hair color, eye color, and facial structure are inherited from both parents. The Newborn life stage lasts exactly 1 in-game day, after which the baby automatically ages into a Toddler. During the Newborn stage, parents can interact with the baby through the crib, and basic needs are handled semi-automatically.
Twins
Early Access promotional materials and teasers have shown families with two babies at once, suggesting that twins are possible. The exact mechanics for how twins occur, whether random chance, a trait-based modifier, or a separate system, have not been officially confirmed. If twins are born into a household at capacity (7 members), one would bring the total to 8 and the second would push past the limit, which may conflict with the household cap.
Adoption
Adoption was added in a later Early Access update. It provides an alternative path to expanding a family without going through the biological pregnancy process. This allows same-sex couples and single Zois to add children to their households.
Cheat codes
Three cheat codes relate to pregnancy:
Item | Description |
|---|---|
getBabyWith [Zoi ID] | Immediately triggers a pregnancy with the specified Zoi, bypassing relationship requirements. |
removePregnancy | Cancels an active pregnancy, returning the Zoi to a non-pregnant state. |
helloMyAngel | Triggers instant birth, skipping the remaining pregnancy duration. The baby appears immediately. |
