Charm is a social skill that governs a Zoi's ability to connect romantically with others. It is the closest equivalent to a "charisma" or "romance" skill in inZOI. A high Charm level makes flirting more effective, dates more successful, and romantic conversations less likely to fail. Charm is available from the Teenager Life Stage onward and applies across all three cities.
How to Level Up Charm
Charm increases through activities that involve romantic expression, complimenting, and social charm:
Activity | Notes |
|---|---|
Flirting interactions | Any flirt, compliment, or romantic conversation with another Zoi contributes XP. Success rate improves as skill rises. |
Love-themed conversations | Discussing romance, attraction, and relationships in conversation menus. |
Reading speech books | Books specifically labeled as charm or speech-related can be read at bookshelves, libraries, or on tablets. Slower than active interactions but useful when no romantic partner is available. |
Going on dates | Taking another Zoi on a formal date and successfully completing date activities counts toward Charm XP. |
The most efficient method is direct romantic interaction with other Zois. Attempting flirt interactions even when they are rejected still provides some skill XP. Higher-level romantic interactions (which unlock as Charm rises) give more XP per use.
What Charm Unlocks
As Charm increases, more effective and advanced romantic interactions become available:
Low levels (1–3): Basic flirt interactions. Modest success rate. Simple compliments and romantic greetings.
Mid levels (4–6): More persuasive romantic interactions. Increased success rate on flirts and love confessions. More conversation topics related to affection and compatibility.
High levels (7–10): Advanced romantic interactions that are highly persuasive. Near-guarantee success on most flirt interactions. Access to deep romantic conversation options that substantially boost relationship meters.
Charm also influences the success of Romance milestones; progressing from First Impression to Crush to Sweetheart to True Love becomes easier and faster with a high Charm skill. At maximum Charm, romantic advancement can happen in a fraction of the time it takes for a low-Charm Zoi.
Charm and Traits
The Traits system intersects with Charm in two ways. First, the Charmer trait is thematically aligned with romantic Urges, making Charmer Zois more likely to receive Urges related to flirting and romantic expression. Second, traits like Adventurer and Entertainer that have the "Extroverted" keyword tend to take more naturally to social interactions, including romantic ones, even without high Charm.
The Perfectionist trait, by contrast, tends toward shorter romantic interaction windows and more demanding standards. A Perfectionist Zoi benefits especially from a high Charm level because it compensates for the trait's tendency toward emotional restraint in romantic situations.
Charm and Careers
Career | Connection |
|---|---|
Entertainment Planning at Adam Entertainment (Dowon) | Charm is a recommended skill for this career path. The Entertainment Planning track involves managing talent relationships, making high Charm a useful asset for career promotion. |
Idol Trainee at Adam Entertainment (Dowon) | Idol Trainees benefit from Charm as they build public personas and romantic fan-appeal. High Charm improves certain on-the-job performance outcomes. |
Freelance careers | Writing and blogging (planned Q2 2026) are expected to use Rhetoric more than Charm, but any career involving public-facing social skill benefits indirectly. |
Charm and the Crime System
Unlike several other social skills, Charm does not directly influence Crime skill interactions. Scam operations use Critical Thinking and Rhetoric, not Charm. However, a high Charm level can be useful for a criminal Zoi attempting to charm their way out of social consequences, for instance convincing witnesses not to report them or smoothing over suspicion with local NPCs.
Tips
Since failed flirts still award Charm XP, actively approaching NPCs on community lots is one of the fastest ways to level the skill, even if many interactions are rejected early on.
Pairing Charm sessions with a Concentrated emotional buff (from completing a personality-aligned Urge) can noticeably speed up skill gain.
The Aflutter emotion (described as romantic excitement) accelerates Charm skill gain when active. Zois with the Charmer trait experience Aflutter frequently, making them natural Charm learners.
Reading speech books at a library does not require a romantic partner and is useful when managing multiple Zois simultaneously; one Zoi can practice skills while the active Zoi is on a date.
