The Team Initiation Challenge is an Important Request that spans the entire game and is required to beat the main story. It begins when the player first visits the beach area in Withered Wasteland (around the time they are searching for Slowpoke) and consists of nine stages, each requiring specific item deliveries. Completing all nine stages triggers the end credits, after which players enter the post-game and can unlock the Magnet Rise transformation.
Each stage awards a themed badge upon completion. The badges reference the original Kanto Gym Badges from the Pokemon series but with altered names, fitting Pokopia's reimagined Kanto setting.

Earliest Availability | Withered Wasteland (early game) |
Leppa Berries are collected by headbutting Leppa Berry trees found throughout Withered Wasteland. Walk up to a tree and press A to headbutt it, and berries will drop. Requirements | 10 Beans, 10 Tomatoes, 10 Wheat |
Reward | Cascade-like Badge |
Earliest Availability | After unlocking Bleak Beach and Rocky Ridges |
This stage requires crops from three different areas. Beans grow in Withered Wasteland, Tomatoes are found at Bleak Beach (near the small crop farm by the houses), and Wheat grows natively in Rocky Ridges. Use the Rototiller ability (taught by Drilbur) to till soil for planting, and bring a Pokemon with the Grow specialty (like Bulbasaur) to accelerate crop growth.

Reward | Thunderish Badge |
Earliest Availability | After unlocking Bleak Beach or Rocky Ridges |
Lumber is produced by giving small logs to a Pokemon with the Chop specialty (such as Scyther or Pinsir), or by using Cut on trees directly.
Fluff drops from Pokemon with the Litter specialty. Mareep, Flaaffy, and Swablu are reliable Fluff sources. Having them walk around your island passively generates Fluff over time.
Paper is produced by giving Wastepaper to a Pokemon with the Recycle specialty. Trubbish, Garbodor, and Metang can all recycle Wastepaper into Paper.

Requirements | 40 Bricks, 20 Gold Ingots, 50 Concrete |
Reward | Rainbowish Badge |
Earliest Availability | After unlocking Sparkling Skylands |
This is the first stage with a major difficulty spike, requiring processed materials from multiple areas.
Bricks (40): Made from Squishy Clay processed by a Pokemon with the Burn specialty (Torchic, Combusken, Charmander). Squishy Clay is dropped by Pokemon with the Litter specialty and found in clay deposits.
Gold Ingots (20): Smelt Gold Ore at a Smelting Furnace with a Burn-specialty Pokemon. Gold Ore is found in Rocky Ridges and Sparkling Skylands, identifiable by its golden flecks on dark rock. Requires powered-up Rock Smash (eat Hamburger Steak) to mine.
Concrete (50): Produced at a Concrete Mixer using Limestone, processed by a Pokemon with the Crush specialty (such as Onix or Pawmo). One Limestone yields 4 Concrete. This is a large quantity, so start producing Concrete as soon as Sparkling Skylands is unlocked.

Requirements | 50 Electricity, 10 Crystal Fragments, 5 Tinkagears |
Reward | Soul-like Badge |
Earliest Availability | After meeting Tinkmaster in Sparkling Skylands |

10 Crystal Fragments: Mined from crystal deposits inside the caves and mine areas of Rocky Ridges. Requires powered-up Rock Smash (eat Hamburger Steak) to break.
5 Tinkagears: Produced by Tinkmaster in Sparkling Skylands. Give Tinkmaster Iron Ingots (1 Iron Ingot = 3 Tinkagears). You need at least 2 Iron Ingots to produce 5 or more Tinkagears.

Requirements | 1 Washing Machine, 1 Refrigerator, 1 Game Boy System |
Reward | Volcanoey Badge |
Earliest Availability | After raising Environment Level to 5 in three areas |
These three appliances are not crafted directly. Instead, each is a reward for raising the Environment Level to 5 in specific areas. Speak to Professor Tangrowth after reaching Level 5 in each area to receive the corresponding item:
Appliance | Area Required at Environment Level 5 |
|---|---|
Washing Machine | |
Refrigerator | |
Game Boy System |
This is often the most time-consuming stage, as reaching Environment Level 5 in three separate areas requires significant habitat building, Pokemon befriending, and environmental restoration. Focus on raising Pokemon Comfort Levels, which is the fastest way to boost Environment Level.

Start collecting and stockpiling basic materials (Lumber, Paper, Fluff, Beans, Berries) from the very beginning. Later stages require large quantities.
Stages 4-6 require access to Sparkling Skylands for Concrete, Tinkagears, and Pokemetal. Progress the main story to unlock this area as soon as possible.
Stage 7 is typically the biggest bottleneck. Start raising Environment Levels in all areas early by building habitats and increasing Pokemon Comfort.
Set up passive material farms using Pokemon with the Gather specialty near Community Boxes. This generates materials while you focus on other tasks.
Always eat Hamburger Steak before mining runs. Stages 4-6 require ores that need powered-up Rock Smash to extract.
The Party Poppers for Stage 9 only need Paper + Vine Rope each, so save a little of each material for the final stage.
Take a photo you genuinely enjoy for Stage 8. The Memories Photo Frame is awarded after completing Stage 9.
