Overview
Glass is a transparent processed material in Pokemon Pokopia used extensively in building and crafting. It is a core component in windows, doors, lighting fixtures, electronics, furniture, and large-scale construction projects. Glass is produced by smelting raw materials at a Smelting Furnace or by breaking existing windows found in abandoned structures throughout the world.
Demand for Glass increases sharply in the mid-to-late game, especially during the Rebuild the Huge Building quest in Sparkling Skylands and when constructing City-tier residential buildings. Players who stockpile Glass early will avoid bottlenecks during these high-demand phases.
How to Obtain
There are two primary methods for acquiring Glass: smelting raw materials at a furnace, and breaking windows in the environment.
Smelting
Three different raw materials can be smelted into Glass at a Smelting Furnace. All three produce Glass at a 1:1 ratio and require a Pokemon with the Burn specialty to operate the furnace.
Raw Material | Output | Ratio | Source Regions |
|---|---|---|---|
Glass | 1:1 | ||
Sand | Glass | 1:1 | |
Sandstone | Glass | 1:1 |
Volcanic Ash is gathered by using Rock Smash on black soil deposits near the Pokemon Center in Rocky Ridges and throughout the area. Sand is obtained by using Rock Smash on sandy terrain at beaches. Sandstone is found in rocky areas of Rocky Ridges and Sparkling Skylands.
Any Burn-specialty Pokemon can operate the furnace. Common early options include Charmander (available in Withered Wasteland) and Magby. To assign a Burn Pokemon, ask it to follow you and walk to the furnace. It will automatically begin working.
Breaking Windows
Breaking windows in abandoned structures yields Glass directly, without needing a furnace or Burn-specialty Pokemon. Locations with breakable windows include:
Sparkling Skylands: The ruins of the Celadon Department Store and other abandoned structures contain breakable windows.
Bleak Beach: Derelict buildings near the coastline have broken windows that drop Glass when interacted with.
This method provides small amounts of Glass and is not reliable for bulk production. It is best used as a supplement during early exploration before furnaces are set up.
Crafting Uses
Glass is one of the most widely used processed materials in Pokopia. It appears in recipes across multiple categories: windows, doors, lighting, electronics, furniture, cooking stations, and decorative items. Below are the major recipe categories and specific items that require Glass.

Infrastructure
The Elevator Platform is one of the most Glass-intensive single recipes in the game, requiring 8 Glass along with 8 Concrete and 2 Tinkagears. Elevator Platforms provide vertical transport within buildings and are essential for multi-story construction.
Character Customization
Players can craft a Mirror at a Workbench using Glass and Wood materials. Mirrors serve as character customization stations, allowing you to change your appearance without visiting a Pokemon Center. A second mirror can also be purchased from the PC Shop for 50 Life Coins.
Building Kit Requirements
Several building kits require Glass as a construction material. City-tier residential buildings in particular consume large quantities.
Building Kit | Glass Required | Other Key Materials |
|---|---|---|
City Hut | 10 | |
City Cottage | 20 | |
City House | 25 | Pokemetal x25, Concrete x25, Iron Ingot x25 |
Gray Hut | 5 | Stone x10, Limestone x15, Iron Ingot x5 |
Yellow Hut | 10 | Concrete x10, Iron Ingot x5, Pokemetal x5 |
Pokeball House | 10 | |

Quest Requirements
Rebuild the Huge Building
The Rebuild the Huge Building quest in Sparkling Skylands is the single largest consumer of Glass in the game. Two of the three construction floors require 10 Glass each, for a total of 20 Glass across the entire quest. Completing all three floors leads to the encounter with Mewtwo.
Floor | Glass Required | Other Materials |
|---|---|---|
2nd Floor | 10 | |
3rd Floor | 10 | Concrete x25, Glowing Stones x10, Copper Ingots x15 |
4th Floor | 0 |
Glass for this quest is smelted from Volcanic Ash collected in Rocky Ridges, or from Sand and Sandstone. Since the quest also requires large amounts of Concrete and metal ingots, it is advisable to run multiple furnaces simultaneously to keep up with demand.
Recycling
Glass is classified as Nonburnable Glass, a subset of Nonburnable Garbage. Trubbish and Garbodor can use the Recycle ability to convert Nonburnable Glass back into Iron Ore. This means surplus Glass does not need to be discarded. Instead, it can be recycled into a useful raw material for further smelting into Iron Ingots.
Automation and Mass Production
For players who need large quantities of Glass (particularly for City buildings and the Rebuild the Huge Building quest), automation is the most efficient approach. Load a Smelting Furnace with Sand, Volcanic Ash, or Sandstone and assign a Burn-specialty Pokemon to operate it. The Pokemon converts the raw materials into Glass continuously without player input.
Stationing multiple Burn-specialty Pokemon near a cluster of furnaces increases throughput significantly. This is especially important during late-game construction, where a single building kit can require 25 Glass alongside other processed materials.
Tips
Volcanic Ash from Rocky Ridges is the easiest bulk source for Glass production. It is abundant near the Pokemon Center and respawns after clearing an area.
Keep at least one furnace running on Volcanic Ash or Sand whenever you are not smelting ores. Glass demand spikes during building projects that require windows and during the Rebuild the Huge Building quest.
All three raw materials (Volcanic Ash, Sand, Sandstone) produce Glass at the same 1:1 ratio. Choose whichever you have the most of.
The Elevator Platform recipe (8 Glass, 8 Concrete, 2 Tinkagears) is the most Glass-intensive single item. Plan ahead if you need vertical transport in multi-story builds.
If you have excess Glass that you cannot use, recycle it with Trubbish or Garbodor to recover Iron Ore rather than letting it sit in storage.
During the Rebuild the Huge Building quest, you need 20 Glass total (10 for the 2nd floor and 10 for the 3rd floor). Prepare this stockpile before speaking to Tinkmaster to avoid construction delays.
