Overview
Limestone is a raw construction material in Pokemon Pokopia used to produce two essential refined materials: Concrete and Marble. It appears as sandy-colored blocks with wavy markings and is found across multiple biomes, primarily in Rocky Ridges and Sparkling Skylands. Because both Concrete and Marble are required for late-game construction and decorative projects, Limestone is one of the most important resources players will need to gather in large quantities.
Where to Find
Limestone deposits spawn in several locations throughout Pokopia. The three primary sources are listed below.
Rocky Ridges
The Rocky Ridges biome is the first area where most players encounter Limestone. Deposits appear above ground near the Hot Springs and inside the mountainous caves scattered across the region. Rocky Ridges also contains Iron Ore, Copper Ore, Gold Ore, Volcanic Ash, and Glowing Stone, making it the most resource-dense mining region in the game.
Sparkling Skylands
Limestone blocks are spread across the islands in Sparkling Skylands, with a particularly dense cluster on the eastern island near where players first meet Tinkmaster. Since the Concrete Mixer is unlocked in this biome, gathering Limestone here and processing it on the spot is efficient.
Rock Peak Dream Islands
The Rock Peak Dream Islands are accessible by showing Drifloon the Clefairy Poke Doll. These islands contain Limestone alongside Cave Mushrooms, Copper Ore, and Ice. Dream Islands respawn daily, so players can revisit the Rock Peak island repeatedly for a reliable supply. You can make multiple trips to the same Dream Island in a single day, collecting more each time.
How to Mine
Limestone blocks are broken using either Rock Smash or Rollout. Both abilities work, but Rollout is significantly faster.
Method | Pokemon Form | Details |
|---|---|---|
Ditto (default) | Breaks one block at a time. Slower but available early in the game. | |
Ditto transforms into Graveler and barrels through multiple blocks in a single roll. Much faster for clearing large deposits. |
Rollout is learned from Graveler in Rocky Ridges. Once unlocked, it becomes the preferred method for all mining activities, not just Limestone.
Processing
Limestone can be refined into two different materials depending on the crafting station used.
Output | Recipe | Station | Specialty Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1 Limestone | Concrete Mixer | Crush | Mixer must be placed near water. A Crush-specialty Pokemon operates it automatically. | |
Marble | 4 Limestone | Workbench | None | Can be crafted at any Workbench with no specialty requirement. |
Concrete
To make Concrete, players need a Concrete Mixer, which is unlocked in Sparkling Skylands after building the Construction Site Generator habitat to attract Conkeldurr. Speaking with Conkeldurr grants the Concrete Mixer recipe, which requires just 2 Iron Ingots to craft. Place the Mixer near a water source, load Limestone into it, and assign a Pokemon with the Crush specialty (such as Conkeldurr, Graveler, or Onix) to operate it. The conversion ratio is 1:1; each piece of Limestone produces one block of Concrete.
Marble
Marble is crafted at any Workbench with no specialty requirement. The recipe calls for 4 Limestone per Marble block. Because of the 4:1 ratio, players looking to build with Marble will need substantially more Limestone than those focusing on Concrete.
Uses
Limestone itself is not placed directly as a building block. Instead, its value comes entirely from the two materials it produces.
Concrete Uses
Concrete feeds into at least 15 crafting recipes and is required for major infrastructure projects in Sparkling Skylands. Key items that require Concrete include:
Item | Category |
|---|---|
Lift Platform | Transportation |
Elevator Platform | Transportation |
Asphalt Road | Roads and Paths |
Marked Roads | Roads and Paths |
Concrete Pipe | Habitat / Infrastructure |
Concrete Wall | |
Concrete Steps | |
Concrete Slab | |
Quest structure (requires 25 Concrete) |
The Lift Platform and Elevator Platform are especially useful for vertical navigation between Sparkling Skylands islands.
Marble Uses
Marble is a premium decorative material used to craft high-end furniture and flooring. Specific items include the Luxury Table, Luxury Sofa, Luxury Bed, Luxury Dresser, and Luxury Lamp, as well as Marble Flooring. Marble gives buildings a polished, elegant appearance and is popular for decorating late-game bases.
Farming Tips
Because both Concrete and Marble demand large amounts of Limestone, efficient farming strategies make a noticeable difference.
Use Rollout: Always mine with Rollout rather than Rock Smash. Rollout clears multiple blocks per use and covers ground much faster.
Eat Potato Hamburger Steak: The Potato Hamburger Steak temporarily powers up Rock Smash so that even hard rock falls in a single hit. This drastically speeds up gathering when combined with Rollout.
Bring a storage Pokemon: Swalot (or Gulpin) can carry large amounts of materials, reducing the number of return trips.
Farm Rock Peak Dream Islands daily: Show the Clefairy Poke Doll to Drifloon each day for a fresh batch of Limestone. You can visit the same island multiple times in one day.
Set up near a Workbench and Concrete Mixer: Keep a Workbench and Concrete Mixer near your primary mining area so you can process Limestone on the spot instead of hauling raw materials back to base.
Assign Crush helpers: Pokemon with the Crush specialty (Conkeldurr, Graveler, Onix, Larvitar, Steelix) can operate the Concrete Mixer passively while you continue gathering.
