Overview
Iron Ingot is one of the most important processed materials in Pokemon Pokopia. It is a refined metal bar created by smelting Iron Ore at a Smelting Furnace with the help of a Pokemon that has the Burn specialty. Iron Ingots appear in more than 20 crafting recipes across furniture, outdoor items, and building utilities. They are also the sole input material for Tinkagear production through Tinkmaster's Tinkaton, making them critical for late-game progression in Sparkling Skylands.
How to Obtain
Iron Ingots are produced by placing Iron Ore into a Smelting Furnace. A Pokemon with the Burn specialty must be assigned to operate the furnace. The conversion runs at a 1:1 ratio, so each piece of Iron Ore yields one Iron Ingot. You can collect finished ingots while smelting continues in the background, so there is no need to wait for the entire batch to complete.

Burn Specialty Pokemon
You need a Pokemon with the Burn specialty to operate the Smelting Furnace. Two Burn-specialty Pokemon can be found in Rocky Ridges:
Pokemon | Location |
|---|---|
Build its habitat near the left cave entrance past the Pokemon Center | |
Found deeper in the cave; push large lava rocks to the lava pond edge to spawn it |
Iron Ore Sources
Before you can smelt Iron Ingots, you need a steady supply of Iron Ore. There are three main ways to gather it.
Method | Details |
|---|---|
Use Rock Smash on metal objects in Rocky Ridges caves. Iron Ore blocks appear as dark gray blocks with silver fragments, typically found near lava areas. | |
Recycling | Give Nonburnable Garbage to a Pokemon with the Recycle specialty, such as Trubbish or Garbodor. They will convert the garbage into Iron Ore. |
Volcanic Dream Island | Visit the Volcanic Dream Island by giving Drifloon an Arcanine Doll. You can visit once per day. Materials gathered on the island do not respawn until the next day, but you can revisit the same island multiple times within that day. |
Tinkagear Conversion
Iron Ingots can be converted into Tinkagear, a specialized mechanical component needed for advanced late-game recipes. To do this, bring Iron Ingots to Tinkmaster, a Tinkaton NPC you encounter during the main story in Sparkling Skylands. Tinkmaster's Tinkaton will process the ingots over time, and you must return later to collect the finished Tinkagears.

Because the conversion ratio is 1 Iron Ingot to 3 Tinkagear, converting ingots in batches is an efficient way to stockpile Tinkagear for large construction projects.

Building and Quest Uses
Beyond furniture and decor, Iron Ingots play a major role in building projects and story quests.
Concrete Mixer
The Concrete Mixer is a key utility that converts Limestone into Concrete using a Pokemon with the Crush specialty. Crafting the Concrete Mixer requires 2 Iron Ingots. You receive the recipe from Conkeldurr after building its habitat.
Lift Platform
The Lift Platform is a transport structure used to reach upper floors in Sparkling Skylands. Each Lift Platform costs 5 Concrete + 1 Tinkagear + 5 Iron Ingots. You need at least two Lift Platforms placed at a distance from each other to create an automatic transport system.
Rebuild the Huge Building (Quest)
The Rebuild the Huge Building quest in Sparkling Skylands is the most Iron Ingot-intensive part of the game. Before the main reconstruction begins, Tinkmaster asks you to bring 6 Concrete and 1 Iron Ingot as an initial request. The 2F of the building then requires 10 Iron Ingots alongside 25 Concrete, 10 Glass, and 5 Pokemetal. Later floors shift to Copper Ore-based materials instead. Completing the quest unlocks an encounter with Mewtwo and raises your Trainer Rank to Master.
Rebuilding Pokemon Centers
Rebuilding the Rocky Ridges Pokemon Center requires 25 Iron Ingots among other materials. See the Rebuilding Pokemon Centers article for full details.
Tips for Farming Iron Ingots
Set up multiple Smelting Furnaces. Place several furnaces in Rocky Ridges for simultaneous production. Keep a Storage Box nearby to monitor supply levels.
Maintain two supply lines. Mine Iron Ore at Rocky Ridges and recycle Nonburnable Garbage through Trubbish or Garbodor to keep a steady flow.
Visit Volcanic Dream Island daily. Give Drifloon an Arcanine Doll each day for a trip to the Volcanic Dream Island, which is rich in Iron Ore deposits.
Prioritize Iron Ore smelting. Dedicate at least one Burn-specialty Pokemon to smelting Iron Ore as a priority over other ores, since Iron Ingot demand is the highest throughout the game.
Stockpile before Sparkling Skylands. The Rebuild the Huge Building quest and Lift Platform construction require large quantities of Iron Ingots. Start stockpiling early to avoid bottlenecks.
Batch your Tinkagear conversions. Since the ratio is 1 Iron Ingot to 3 Tinkagear, convert in large batches to save trips back to Tinkmaster.
