The Workpedia is a phone app in Starsand Island that lets you unlock and upgrade skills for each of the five professions. Skills provide passive bonuses that improve gathering efficiency, stamina management, combat performance, farming yield, and more. Each profession has its own skill tree with multiple perks spread across the five certification tiers (Apprentice through Expert). Skills are purchased with Starsand Points and can be upgraded multiple times for stronger effects.
The Workpedia unlocks after you become an Apprentice in any profession.
Open it from your Phone's tab menu. Each profession has its own page showing available skills.
Skills must be manually purchased using Starsand Points. They are not granted automatically.
Each skill has multiple upgrade levels (typically 2 to 3). Higher levels cost more points but provide stronger effects.
Skills are locked behind profession certification tiers. You can only access Intermediate skills after earning your Intermediate certification from Solara at the Community Center.
Within a tier, skills can generally be unlocked in any order as long as you have enough points.

Starsand Points are the currency spent in the Workpedia. There are several ways to earn them, and you will want to pursue all of them to build up a healthy supply.
Source | Points | Details |
|---|---|---|
Bulletin Board Requests | Varies by difficulty | Daily tasks posted outside the Community Center. Higher star ratings give more points. Complete within the time limit for a bonus. |
Island Life App Quests | 50 to 1,500 per quest | Phone app that tracks your progress through home decoration tasks and status milestones. |
StarNote App / Leveling Up | ~100 per 3 profession levels | Tasks in the StarNote app grant EXP. Leveling up awards Starsand Points. The amount doubles later in the game. |
Photo Album Quests | Varies | Photograph specific landmarks (Serena's Store, General Store, Half-Moon Bay Pier, Aureleaf Kitchen, Windflute Island Pier). |
Tourist Side Quests | Varies + gifts | Random NPCs in colorful clothing appear around town. Complete their photo requests for points and items. |
Islandpedia Stamps | Varies | Earning documentation stamps in the Islandpedia contributes points. |
Profession Certifications | Varies | Each new certification (Apprentice through Expert) awards points directly. |
The Bulletin Board is the most reliable daily source. Check it every morning and complete all available requests. Island Life quests offer the largest single payouts (up to 1,500 points each) but are finite.
Starsand Island has 44 skills spread across the five profession trees. Each skill can be upgraded multiple times (typically 2 to 3 levels). Skill names may vary slightly between game versions as the developers refine the UI during Early Access.

Starsand Points are a limited resource, especially in the early game. The following unlock order is recommended by multiple guides and community consensus.
Recuperate Lv.1 (Apprentice Crafter): Stamina recovery while sitting saves food and lets you gather longer. This is almost universally recommended as the first perk.
Efficiency Boost Lv.1 (Apprentice Crafter): More wood and ore per swing means fewer trips and less stamina spent.
Effortless Tilling Lv.1 (Apprentice Farmer): Reduces the steep 15-stamina cost of hoeing, which you do many times per day.
Power Strike Lv.1 (Apprentice Explorer): Critical hits in the Moonlit Forest cut combat time significantly.
Seed Spreader Lv.1 (Apprentice Farmer): Speeds up planting enormously. Holding and charging to sow a whole row at once is a massive time saver.
Ammo Recycle Lv.1 (Explorer): Recovering ammunition saves resources during long Moonlit Forest expeditions.
Focused Cast Lv.1 (Apprentice Angler): Makes fishing faster and less frustrating by building Focus between catches.
Supply Boost Lv.1 (Junior Crafter): Unlocks raw materials at Zerine's shop. Convenience purchase that saves farming time.
After these core picks, upgrade your most-used skills to Lv.2 and Lv.3 before branching into mid-tier and senior skills. Golden Crafter (Intermediate Crafter) and Nutrient Absorption (Intermediate Crafter) are strong next choices. For late-game farmers, Chain Harvest Lv.3 and Eternal Blessing are top priorities.
The This is My Expertise achievement requires purchasing every perk in one profession's Workpedia tree. This means buying all skills at all upgrade levels for a single profession. The Crafter tree is the most commonly chosen since its skills benefit all other activities (gathering, stamina, shop access). Completing this achievement also requires reaching Expert rank in that profession, since Expert-tier skills must be unlocked last.
Check the Bulletin Board every day. It is the most consistent daily source of Starsand Points.
Complete Island Life app quests whenever they appear. They offer the largest single payouts (up to 1,500 points each).
Photograph landmarks and help tourist NPCs around town. These are easy, often-overlooked point sources.
Spend points on Lv.1 of multiple skills before maxing out any single skill. The jump from Lv.0 to Lv.1 provides the biggest relative improvement.
Prioritize Crafter and Farmer skills early. Recuperate and Efficiency Boost affect every play session, while farming is your primary income source.
Do not forget to manually unlock skills in the Workpedia after earning a new certification. The game does not prompt you when new skills become available.
The Handcrafted Wonders Expert Crafter perk is a game-changer for convenience. At Lv.3, you can craft Worktable III recipes anywhere without needing a station.
