Brick
Brick is a processed building material in Pokemon Pokopia created by giving Squishy Clay to a Pokemon with the Burn specialty. Each piece of clay produces two Bricks. They are used in 18 crafting recipes for walls, roofs, flooring, steps, borders, and furniture, as well as large-scale building kits including the Abandoned Power Plant (Zapdos) and the Bleak Beach Pokemon Center.
Overview
Brick is a processed building material in Pokemon Pokopia described in-game as "bricks made by baking clay" that are "perfect for making buildings, roads, and other structures." Bricks are created by giving Squishy Clay to a Pokemon with the Burn specialty, which fires the clay into usable Bricks at a 1:2 conversion ratio (one clay yields two Bricks). Unlike metal ores, Squishy Clay does not go into the Smelting Furnace; instead, a Burn-specialty Pokemon processes it directly.
Bricks are one of the most versatile construction materials in the game, appearing in 18 crafting recipes covering walls, roofs, flooring, borders, steps, and furniture. They are also required in bulk for major building kits and Pokemon Center reconstruction projects. With a standard trade value of 50 (75 if it matches a Pokemon's favorite category), Bricks are a decent trading item as well.
How to Obtain
To produce Bricks, collect Squishy Clay and deliver it to any Pokemon with the Burn specialty. The Pokemon processes the clay and returns finished Bricks. Each piece of Squishy Clay yields two Bricks, so 10 Squishy Clay produces 20 Bricks. Processing happens in batches; you can hand over multiple pieces of clay at once and collect the results when the Pokemon finishes.
Processing Detail | Info |
|---|---|
Input | |
Output | Brick |
Conversion Ratio | 1:2 (one clay yields two Bricks) |
Facility | None (Pokemon processes directly) |
Specialty Required | Burn |
Example Pokemon | Torchic, Charmander, Growlithe, Litwick, Scorbunny, Vulpix, Cyndaquil, Torkoal, Rolycoly, Charcadet |
Trade Value | 50 (standard) / 75 (favorite) |
Early in the game, Torchic is one of the easiest Burn-specialty Pokemon to recruit. Build the Chirp-chirp Meal habitat in Bleak Beach (requires a Wooden Birdhouse, Table, and plated food such as a Leppa Berry) and interact with the birdhouse when it rattles to find Torchic inside.
Squishy Clay Sources
Squishy Clay is the sole raw material for Brick production. There are two ways to obtain it: gathering it from the environment or collecting it from Pokemon with the Litter specialty.
Resource Gathering
Use Rock Smash on brown clay blocks found in the world. Two locations contain abundant clay deposits.
Location | Details |
|---|---|
Clay blocks are scattered across the shores, near the abandoned Pokemon Center, and in the flooded built-up area. This is the most convenient early-game source. | |
Clay deposits appear inside the cave where Onix is first encountered. The cave has a large concentration of clay blocks. |
Litter Specialty
Pokemon with the Litter specialty periodically drop Squishy Clay around their habitat, providing a passive supply over time. Notable Litter-specialty Pokemon include Paldean Wooper, Clodsire, and Trapinch. Housing any of these Pokemon in your settlement means Squishy Clay will accumulate automatically without needing to visit mining locations.
Crafting Recipes
Bricks appear as ingredients in 18 confirmed crafting recipes. Most brick recipes produce structural or decorative building elements. Every brick-based item is paintable, allowing you to customize its color to match your settlement's design. The table below lists every recipe along with the number of Bricks required, other ingredients, and where the recipe is unlocked.
Recipe | Bricks | Other Materials | Unlock Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
Brick Wall | 2 | (none) | Bleak Beach Shop Lv. 4 |
Stone Brick Wall | 2 | (none) | Daily Shop Special (Sparkling Water) |
Stylish Brick Wall (Upper) | 2 | (none) | Daily Shop Special (Sparkling Water) |

Stone Fireplace | 2 | Stone x2, Sturdy Stick x2 | Register 120 Pokemon |
Planter | 1 | Stone x1 | Daily Shop Special (Sparkling Water) |
Most recipes require exactly 2 Bricks each. The Planter is the only recipe that uses just 1 Brick. Since every recipe yields one item per craft, producing a full set of brick building elements for a house (walls, roof pieces, flooring, and borders) can consume a significant number of Bricks.
Building Kit Uses
In addition to individual crafting recipes, Bricks are required in large quantities for two major construction projects. These kits are among the most material-intensive in the game.
Building Kit | Bricks Required | Other Materials | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
Abandoned Power Plant Kit | 50 | Copper Ingot x50, Iron Ingot x50, Sea Glass Fragment x50, Pokemetal x10 | Unlocks Zapdos |
20 | Rebuilds the Pokemon Center in Bleak Beach | ||
Pikachu Fountain Kit | 10 | Decorative fountain for your settlement |
The Abandoned Power Plant Kit is located on the southern island near Palette Town and requires 15 Pokemon (including Pokemon with Build, Fly, Crush, and Generate specialties) to construct. Once built, Zapdos appears inside the power plant the following day. For full details, see How to Get Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
The Bleak Beach Pokemon Center rebuild requires 8 Pokemon with Build, Bulldoze, and Water specialties. The 20 Bricks needed means you should prepare at least 10 Squishy Clay beforehand. For a walkthrough of all Pokemon Center rebuilds, see Rebuilding Pokemon Centers.
Comparison with Other Processed Materials
Brick belongs to the processed materials category alongside ingots and other refined items. Unlike ingots, which are smelted at a Smelting Furnace, Brick is produced by a Burn-specialty Pokemon handling the clay directly. The table below shows how Brick compares to other common processed materials.
Material | Raw Input | Processing Method | Ratio | Primary Uses |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Brick | Burn-specialty Pokemon (direct) | 1:2 | Walls, roofs, flooring, borders, building kits | |
Smelting Furnace + Burn Pokemon | 1:1 | Furniture, cooking stations, building kits | ||
Smelting Furnace + Burn Pokemon | 1:1 | Advanced construction, tools, Pokemon Centers | ||
Smelting Furnace + Burn Pokemon | 1:1 | Premium furniture, Altar of the Flame | ||
Sea Glass Fragment | Smelting Furnace + Burn Pokemon | 1:1 | Windows, decorative panels, lighting |
The 1:2 conversion ratio makes Brick one of the most efficient processed materials. You get double the output compared to ingots, which helps offset the large quantities needed for building kits.
Tips
Since Burn-specialty Pokemon are also used to operate the Smelting Furnace for ingot production, they can become a bottleneck if you need both Bricks and smelted ingots at the same time. Befriend multiple Burn-specialty Pokemon so you can run Brick production and furnace smelting in parallel.
Squishy Clay is plentiful at Bleak Beach and in the Withered Wasteland cave, so the limiting factor is usually processing speed rather than raw material supply. For a passive clay supply, keep a Paldean Wooper or other Litter-specialty Pokemon in your settlement; they will drop Squishy Clay around their habitat over time.
Plan ahead for the Abandoned Power Plant Kit. Its 50-Brick requirement means you need at least 25 Squishy Clay dedicated to Brick production. Combined with the 20 Bricks for the Bleak Beach Pokemon Center and 10 for the Pikachu Fountain, you will want a minimum of 80 Bricks (40 Squishy Clay) if you intend to complete all three projects.
Farm clay in bulk before starting large builds. Collect a full inventory of Squishy Clay from Bleak Beach in one trip, hand it all to your Burn-specialist Pokemon, and check back later for the finished Bricks. This batch approach is far more efficient than making repeated small trips.
All brick crafting recipes produce paintable items. If you plan to build a themed settlement, you can craft all your walls, roofs, and borders first and then paint them in a single pass to ensure consistent coloring.
