Music and Radio
Music plays a central role in daily life across inZOI. Zois can listen to background tracks through stereos and speakers, play instruments to develop the Instrument skill, sing at karaoke venues, busk for tips in public, and dance at parties. The game features a full original soundtrack composed by KRAFTON MUSIC that shifts dynamically between Live Mode and Build Mode.
Original Soundtrack
The inZOI: Original Soundtrack (Early Access) was released on March 25, 2025 and contains 28 tracks spanning roughly 1 hour and 23 minutes. The music was composed and produced by KRAFTON MUSIC with contributions from Ashley Alisha, K.Chozen, and other artists. The soundtrack is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
Live Mode features ambient, mood-appropriate background music that changes based on the time of day and your Zoi's current situation. Tracks like "Sundown Streets" and "Moonlight Stroll" play during evening hours, while "Daydreaming" and "Sunlit Tides" accompany daytime activities. Build Mode switches to calming piano compositions and waltz-style pieces such as "Snowflake Waltz" and "Magic Keys."

Stereos and Speakers
Stereos and speakers are furniture items that let Zois play music inside their homes or at social events. You can purchase them through the Furniture tab in Build Mode. Once placed, click on a stereo to see the available interactions.
Speaker interactions:
Listen to Event Music - plays background music from the stereo. Fulfills the "Wants to Turn On Some Event Music" urge.
Dance Together - available when music is already playing. Your Zoi and nearby Zois will start dancing together.
inZOI uses a diegetic sound system for speakers. Sound emanates from the speaker's physical location with a volume sphere around it. The further the camera (or listener) moves from the speaker, the quieter the music becomes. Walls and other objects between the speaker and the listener also reduce the volume. This behavior was improved in the v0.3.0 update, which increased the audible range of speakers so they could be heard from a more reasonable distance.
Audio Settings
The "Background Music" slider in the audio settings controls both the ambient game soundtrack and the in-game radio or speaker music. There is no separate slider for diegetic speaker audio. If you want to hear speakers more clearly during gameplay, raising the background music volume is the only option. The game does not currently support adding custom music files to speakers or radio stations, though this is one of the most frequently requested features on the official forums and Steam discussions.
Listening to Music
Beyond interacting with a placed stereo, Zois have personal music-listening actions accessible through the Personal Action menu (click on your Zoi):
Action | Requirements | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Listen to Music | None | Zoi listens to music. Satisfies Fun need. |
Enjoy Music Alone | Requires Autonomy value (traits like Individualist, Authoritarian, or Explorer). Must be alone. | Fulfills the "Wants to Enjoy Music Alone" urge. Satisfies Fun need. |
Jukebox and Party Music
The Jukebox is a dedicated music furniture item available under Social Event furniture for 230 Meow. It functions similarly to a stereo but is designed for parties and gatherings. When planning a social event through the Events app on your Zoi's smartphone, you can set "Enjoy Music" and "Dance" as recommended activities for guests.
Party-related furniture that enhances the music and dance experience includes:
Item | Price (Meow) | Description |
|---|---|---|
Jukebox | 230 | Plays music. Guests can interact with it during events. |
Dance Floor | 3,180 | Dedicated area for dancing. May influence the variety of dance moves available. |
Disco Ball | 14 | Ceiling-mounted lighting effect for parties. |
Floor Disco Ball | 14 | Floor-level lighting effect. |
Smoke Machine | 110 | Adds atmospheric fog effects during events. |
Instrument Skill
The Instrument skill allows Zois to play music on physical instruments and compose songs digitally. It is available to Teenagers through Elders. Playing instruments is the fastest way to level up this skill early on, while composing on a computer becomes more lucrative at higher levels.
Available instruments include pianos, guitars, drum sets, and keyboards/synthesizers. Some instruments have age restrictions; for example, guitars may be limited to certain age groups, while drum kits and synthesizers work for a wider range. Instruments are purchased through the Hobby Furniture section of Build Mode.
Composition Unlocks
Starting at level 2, Zois can compose music on a computer and sell completed tracks for Meow. Higher skill levels unlock additional genres:
Level | Genres Unlocked |
|---|---|
2 | Folk Song, Jingle |
4 | Classical Music, Hip-Hop Beats |
6 | Jazz Music, Movie Score |
Compositions sell for more Meow as your Instrument skill increases. Reaching level 7 or 8 is recommended before focusing primarily on selling music, as the income per track increases substantially at that point. Playing instruments also brings joy to other household members who hear it.
Performance Skill and Singing
The Performance skill covers singing, stand-up comedy, and stage activities. It is available from the Teenager life stage onward. Singing with a microphone (purchased through Build Mode under Hobbies) is the fastest way to increase this skill.
Other ways to develop the Performance skill include:
Coin Booth Karaoke - visit the karaoke venue in Dowon for 5 Meow per session. You can sing solo or perform a duet with another Zoi.
Idol career tasks - all Idol career tiers include vocal practice as a work task, building Performance skill while on the job.
Watching Entertainment Programs on TV - a passive method that slowly builds Performance skill.
Browsing humor websites - using a computer to research comedy content increases Performance over time.
Reading performing arts books - read from a bookshelf for a low-risk, affordable skill increase.
Busking
Zois can perform music or sing in public places for tips. To go busking, head to a crowded public lot such as a park, cafe, or beach, and select the busking interaction. Performing in busier areas attracts more attention and earns more Meow. Zois with the Entertainer trait or the Singing preference are particularly well-suited to busking.
Max-Level Activities
At maximum Performance skill level, Zois unlock two special rabbit hole events:
Comedy club performance - your Zoi travels to a comedy club and performs a set.
Singing competition - your Zoi enters a singing competition at a venue.
Both are booked through the smartphone. The Zoi travels by taxi and disappears temporarily while the event plays out. These events are still being developed during Early Access and may not provide full rewards yet.
Dancing
Dancing is a social activity closely tied to music. To initiate dancing, place a speaker or jukebox in your home or at an event venue, start playing music, then click the speaker again and select Dance Together. Your Zoi will begin dancing, and nearby Zois may join in. Adding a Dance Floor furniture piece enhances the experience and may expand the variety of dance moves available.
During social events, you can set dancing as a recommended activity through the Events app. This encourages guests to prioritize the dance floor. Dancing satisfies the Fun need and can contribute to positive emotions like the Amused state.
Music and Emotions
Listening to music, watching entertainment programs, and playing games can trigger the Amused emotion, which has practical benefits: it quickly improves the Performance skill. Meanwhile, the Annoyed emotion hinders progress in the Instrument skill, so keeping your Zoi in a positive mood while practicing music is important for efficient leveling.
Music also satisfies the Fun need, making it a reliable way to keep Zois happy without leaving the house. Stereo music can benefit multiple Zois in the same room simultaneously, as long as they are within the speaker's audible range.
