Overview
Ranged Weapons of the World: Guns, Vol. I is a crafting manual in Crimson Desert that teaches gun crafting recipes for the Smithy. As the first volume in the gun branch of the Ranged Weapons of the World series, it provides Kliff with the blueprints needed to forge basic firearms from ore. Once the manual has been read, all recipes it contains are permanently unlocked and the book can be sold for silver.
Guns encompass several subcategories of ranged weapons in Crimson Desert, including pistols, rifles, and hand cannons. Pistols fire quickly while keeping the wielder nimble, rifles deliver high damage at long range through precise shots, and hand cannons unleash powerful charged shots that deal heavy damage. This volume focuses on introductory firearms that serve as a reliable ranged option during the early chapters of the story.
How to Obtain
This manual can be purchased from equipment vendors in Hernand, including Rhett at the Hernand Equipment Shop. Like other Vol. I crafting books, it is available at a low silver cost. Additional copies may be found while exploring Pywel. A small book icon appears on the mini-map whenever you are near a crafting book, making it easy to spot manuals in the field.
Crafting Station
Gun recipes from this manual are forged at the Smithy. Speak with a blacksmith such as Turnali in Hernand, choose the crafting menu, and select the gun you want to create. Crafting equipment does not cost any currency; only the raw materials listed below are needed.

Iron Ore and Copper Ore are among the most common mining materials in the game. Iron Ore is found at ore deposits scattered throughout every region, while Copper Ore appears at copper veins, often near rocky terrain and hillsides. Both can also be purchased in bulk from material merchants.

Refinement
Crafted guns can be improved through refinement at the Smithy. Gun refinement primarily uses Iron Ore and Copper Ore for levels 1 through 4. From level 5 onward, you will need Abyss Artifacts to continue upgrading. As with all equipment, sacrificing a duplicate gun can substitute for the raw material cost at any refinement level.
Tips
Guns share the same ore materials as melee weapons, so plan your mining trips carefully if you intend to craft both.
The Bekker Musket is a reliable sidearm for the early game. Pair it with a close-range weapon to handle enemies at all distances.
Crafting manuals are single-use learning items. Once read, sell the book to free up inventory space and earn some silver.
Explore buildings carefully when traveling through towns and settlements. Some crafting manuals can be found on shelves and tables, though picking them up may count as stealing. Equip a Mask beforehand to avoid reputation loss.
