Overview
Cloth Armor of the World Vol. I is a crafting manual in Crimson Desert that unlocks recipes for lightweight cloth armor pieces at any blacksmith. Cloth armor is one of two main armor families in the game (the other being plate armor). Where plate armor trades mobility for raw defense, cloth armor offers lower defense values but provides Ice Resistance and allows faster movement, dodge recovery, and lighter stamina consumption.
This is the first volume in the cloth armor crafting manual series. It covers chest pieces, gloves, and boots made from common fabric materials found throughout the early regions of the game.
How to Obtain
The manual can be found through several methods:
Sold by a tailor vendor in Hernand Town. Check the market square near the clothier stalls.
Dropped from certain chests in the Hernand countryside and nearby caves.
Rewarded by completing early side quests that involve gathering cloth or fleece for local NPCs.
Reading the manual permanently adds the cloth armor recipes to every smithy in Pywel. The manual itself is consumed on use.
Unlocked Armor Pieces
After reading this manual, the following cloth armor pieces can be crafted:
Armor Piece | Defense | Bonus | Materials |
|---|---|---|---|
Delesyian Cloth Tunic | 4 | Ice Resistance Lv. 3 | Cloth Pieces x10, Fleece x3 |
Grey Wolf Cloth Tunic | 4 | Ice Resistance Lv. 3 | Cloth Pieces x10, Fleece x3 |
White Bloodwind Cloth Tunic | 4 | Ice Resistance Lv. 3 | Cloth Pieces x10, Fleece x3 |
Delesyian Cloth Gloves | 2 | Ice Resistance Lv. 2 | Cloth Pieces x5, Fleece x1 |
Grey Wolf Cloth Gloves | 2 | Ice Resistance Lv. 2 | Cloth Pieces x5, Fleece x1 |
Delesyian Cloth Boots | 2 | Ice Resistance Lv. 2 | Cloth Pieces x5, Fleece x1 |
Cloth armor recipes typically call for Cloth Pieces and Fleece. Cloth Pieces can be gathered from linen bundles found in towns, purchased from vendors, or salvaged from defeated bandits. Fleece is obtained by hunting sheep and goats in the Hernand countryside or purchasing it from livestock traders.
Cloth vs. Plate Armor
Choosing between cloth and plate armor affects how your character handles combat:
Attribute | Cloth Armor | Plate Armor |
|---|---|---|
Defense | Lower base values | Higher base values |
Elemental Resistance | Ice Resistance | Fire Resistance |
Mobility | Faster dodge recovery | Slower dodge recovery |
Stamina Cost | Lower stamina drain | Higher stamina drain |
Best For | Agile, evasion-based play | Tanking, heavy-hit trading |
Cloth armor suits players who rely on dodging and spacing in combat rather than absorbing damage directly. It pairs well with fast weapons like rapiers and one-handed swords.
Crafting Cloaks
In addition to chest, glove, and boot recipes, several cloaks use similar cloth materials. The Delesyian Cloth Cloak, Grey Wolf Cloth Cloak, and White Bloodwind Cloth Cloak all require 10 Cloth Pieces and 2 Fleece. Cloaks provide no direct defense but grant Ice Resistance Lv. 3, which stacks with the resistance on cloth body pieces.
Tips
If you plan on using cloth armor, pick up this manual as early as possible so you can start building a set before heading into tougher regions.
Cloth armor complements the Scarecrow Cloak and other cloth cloaks for a full Ice Resistance loadout.
Refine your cloth armor at the smithy to push its defense values higher. Each refinement costs additional Cloth Pieces.
Socket Abyss Cores with defensive stats (Aegis, Wall of Steel) to offset the lower base defense of cloth gear.
