Walkthrough
Part 1: The Broken Trail
Meet Williem's Lieutenant
Travel to Hernand Farmhouse and speak with the guards and the Lieutenant. He explains that Marshal Middler has gone missing and requests your help tracking him down.
Search Ivynook
Head to Ivynook and speak with Wandering Freeswords to gather clues about Williem's location. The freeswords provide directions that point northwest.
Investigate Icemoor Castle Ruins
Journey northwest to Icemoor Castle Ruins. Inside, Williem is discovered under a pile of corpses. Along the path through the ruins, activate two Stone Lanterns. Lighting both triggers a cutscene that advances time to morning.
Part 2: King of the Fallen Kingdom
Boss Fight: Saigord the Staglord
Saigord the Staglord awaits at the center of the ruined castle. He wears heavy armor and fights with a sword and shield. The cold climate in this region reduces stamina recovery, so come prepared with ice resistance armor and warming food.
Strategy: Dodge his attacks rather than parrying or blocking. Many of Saigord's strikes have a red glint, indicating they cannot be parried. Use skills like Turning Slash and Force Palm for optimal damage during recovery windows. After defeating him, Kliff receives Staglord's Shield and the Turning Slash Expertise skill.
Tips
Bring ice resistance gear and warming food. The Icemoor region's cold weather debuff slows stamina recovery, which can be deadly during the boss fight.
Saigord's red-glint attacks cannot be parried. Dodge sideways when you see the red flash.
Activate both Stone Lanterns along the path before reaching the boss arena. Skipping them means fighting in darkness with reduced visibility.
Staglord's Shield is one of the better shields in the game. Equip it immediately if you use a sword-and-shield build.
