New Finny Roommates

New Finny Roommates is a Bulletin Board request in Starsand Island that doubles as the Apprentice Angler Trial for the Angler profession. It is one of the earliest profession trial quests players encounter and serves as the gateway to the fishing progression system. Completing this quest rewards the player with their first aquarium and unlocks the Soup Dumplings cooking recipe, which is required for the later Building Starsand Station quest.

Prerequisites

Before the New Finny Roommates request appears on the Bulletin Board, the following steps must be completed:

1. Complete the Apprentice Crafter Trial Talk to Zerine at the General Store, buy the free Equipment Blueprint Pack, build a Cutter, Furnace, and Charcoal Kiln, craft a skateboard, then complete the "Light Up the Night!" bulletin board request for Stella.

2. Talk to Delphin at the AquaBlue Outpost Delphin is the Angler Profession Mentor located on the right side of Half-Moon Bay. He gives you a Wooden Rod and asks you to catch 3 fish.

3. Catch 3 fish and return to Delphin Any fish type counts. This earns you the Apprentice Angler Certificate, after which the quest appears on the Bulletin Board.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

Step 1: Accept the Quest

Go to the Bulletin Board outside the Community Center in Starsand Town. Accept the request titled "New Finny Roommates."

Step 2: Catch 10 Fish

Head to any body of water and catch 10 fish of any type. Any species counts toward the objective. The most convenient fishing spots for this quest are:

• River near the Community Center Closest to the delivery point, so you can fish and turn in without much travel.

• Half-Moon Bay beach A good alternative if you are already visiting Delphin's shop.

Each catch costs 10 Energy, so catching all 10 fish requires at least 100 Energy. Bring food such as Mushroom Soup to restore stamina if needed.

Step 3: Deliver Fish to Solara

Bring all 10 fish to Solara at the Community Center. She accepts the fish and then asks you to help build an aquarium by providing construction materials.

Step 4: Craft a Softwood Plank

Craft 1 Softwood Plank using a Cutter on your farm at Hopeland. Softwood Planks are processed from Softwood, which is gathered by chopping small trees with an axe.

Step 5: Deliver the Softwood Plank

Give the Softwood Plank to Solara at the Community Center. This completes the Bulletin Board request portion of the quest.

Step 6: Return to Delphin

Go back to Delphin at the AquaBlue Outpost to finish the Apprentice Angler Trial and receive your profession certification.

The Cube Aquarium received from this quest is the smallest size (XS). Larger aquarium blueprints become available at Delphin's shop as you progress through the Angler profession tiers:

Fishing Tips

• Equip the Wooden Rod from your inventory and look for fish-shaped shadows or round ripples in the water.

• Hold the cast button (M1) to aim toward shadows, then release to throw the line.

• When the fish bites, hold M1 to reel in. If the fishing line turns red, release briefly to avoid snapping it, then resume reeling.

• The river near the Community Center is the most efficient spot since Solara is right there for the delivery.

• Make sure you have a Cutter built on your farm before starting, or be prepared to build one for the Softwood Plank step.
