Overview
Wingull is a Water/Flying-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Seagull Pokemon (Dex #123). Catching sea winds with its long wings, it soars as if it were a glider, and it folds its wings to rest. Wingull is paired with Pelipper (Dex #124) as part of the same family. While there is no evolution mechanic in Pokopia, both can be found independently at their own habitats. Wingull carries the Water and Fly specialties, making it an extremely useful Pokemon for watering plants and fast travel.
Habitat
Wingull can be found at two habitats. Both can be placed in any area.
Elevated Yellow Tall Grass (#052)
A patch of yellow tall grass placed on elevated ground. This simple habitat attracts several flying and bug Pokemon.
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Yellow Tall Grass | 4 | Grown using Leafage on yellow soil |
High-up Location | 1 | Place the grass on elevated terrain |
Wingull is a Common visitor at this habitat. It appears during Morning, Day, and Evening, but not at Night. Available in all weather (Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy). Pelipper also spawns here as a Rare visitor.
Windy Flower Bed (#058)
A breezy flower garden powered by a windmill. A floral aroma spreads far and wide as the windmill turns, attracting ocean-loving Pokemon.
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Seashore Flowers | 4 | Found growing near Bleak Beach shorelines |
Windmill | 1 | Crafted from a Windmill Kit or found in Bleak Beach |
Wingull is a Common visitor at the Windy Flower Bed. It appears during Morning, Day, and Evening in all weather. Pelipper also spawns here as a Rare visitor.
Location
Both habitats can be placed in any area, including Withered Wastelands, Bleak Beach, Rocky Ridges, Sparkling Skylands, Palette Town, and Cloud Island. The Windy Flower Bed is commonly built on Bleak Beach since Seashore Flowers and Windmills are both native to that area.
How to Befriend
Build either the Elevated Yellow Tall Grass or Windy Flower Bed habitat. Wingull is Common at both, so it should appear quickly. Make sure to check during Morning, Day, or Evening since Wingull does not appear at Night. Walk up to Wingull and interact with it to befriend it.
Specialties
Water
Wingull has the Water specialty. Pokemon with this specialty can spray water on nearby fields and plants. This is essential for keeping crops and flowers watered, and for creating Hydrated grass habitats. Wingull is one of the earliest Water specialty Pokemon many players encounter.
Fly
Wingull also has the Fly specialty. If you speak to a Pokemon with the Fly specialty while using the Pokedex to search for another Pokemon, they can take you directly to that Pokemon's location. This is a powerful fast-travel mechanic that saves significant time when tracking down specific Pokemon across your islands.

Related Pokemon
Wingull is paired with Pelipper (Dex #124). In the main Pokemon series, Wingull evolves into Pelipper at level 25. In Pokopia, there is no evolution mechanic, so both must be found independently. They share the same two habitats (Elevated Yellow Tall Grass and Windy Flower Bed) and the same two specialties (Water and Fly), but Pelipper is Rare while Wingull is Common.
Tips
Wingull is one of the most important early-game Pokemon thanks to its Fly specialty, which lets you fast-travel to other Pokemon locations.
Many players encounter Wingull first on Bleak Beach by building a Windy Flower Bed using locally available Seashore Flowers and a Windmill.
Remember that Wingull only appears during Morning, Day, and Evening. If you are looking for it at Night, try Pelipper or come back during daytime hours.
The Water specialty makes Wingull useful for maintaining crops and creating Hydrated grass habitats that attract additional Water-type Pokemon.
