Overview

The Pailunese Logging Axe is a two-handed weapon in Crimson Desert originating from the Pailune region. As the name implies, it was originally designed as a forestry tool rather than a weapon of war. The logging axe's hefty build and sharp edge translate well to combatand the weapon grants Critical Hit Chance Lv. 1making it one of the crit-oriented options in the two-handed weapon pool alongside the Ceremonial Warhammer and Zargan Warhammer.

Pailune is a forested region where logging is a significant part of the local economy. The logging axe reflects that practical origin: it is a working tool repurposed for battle. This grounded, utilitarian aesthetic sets it apart from the more ornate weapon designs found in wealthier regions of Pywel.

The Pailunese Logging Axe can be crafted at a Blacksmith using the following materials

The crafting recipe must be learned from a weapon crafting book. Books related to Pailunese equipment are most likely found in or around the Pailune region during exploration. A book icon appears on the mini-map whenever a crafting book is nearby. The weapon may also be available from Equipment Shops in Pailune-area towns.

Combat Notes

At 15 attack power with Critical Hit Chance Lv. 1, the Pailunese Logging Axe shares an identical stat profile with the Ceremonial Warhammer and Zargan Warhammer. The difference comes down to weapon subtype: as a greataxe, the Logging Axe uses the axe moveset with wider horizontal sweeps, while warhammers use a more vertically focused overhead slam moveset.

Players who prefer crowd control through wide arcs should choose the Pailunese Logging Axe over its warhammer equivalents. The axe sweep catches more targets per swing in dense groups, and the crit bonus means some of those multi-target hits will land as critical strikes, amplifying the area damage output.

Against single targets, the crit bonus provides modest burst damage that accumulates over extended fights. The 15 base attack is low enough that players should consider investing in refinement early to bring the damage closer to the 16-attack options like the Horseshoe-Blade Greataxe.

Refinement

The Pailunese Logging Axe supports 10 refinement levels at a Blacksmith. Refinement increases the base attack value while the Critical Hit Chance Lv. 1 bonus remains fixed. This means refined versions of the weapon combine higher flat damage with consistent crit upside.

Tips

• The Pailunese Logging Axe is functionally identical to the Ceremonial Warhammer in stats. Choose between them based on whether you prefer the greataxe sweep moveset or the warhammer overhead slam moveset.

• Craft this weapon if you want a crit-capable greataxe without waiting for the Hellhounds' Chopping Axe (which has Crit Lv. 2 but is harder to obtain).

• The axe sweep moveset pairs well with fire elemental enhancementsspreading burn effects across multiple enemies hit by each wide swing.

Odek Tribe Vendor

Once the Odek ruins have been liberated by completing the Executioner of Justice quest chain for the Odek tribe in northern Pailune, a tribal vendor becomes available in Odek territory who stocks the Pailunese Logging Axe alongside a small selection of other Odek-themed equipment. The vendor is one of the primary late-unlocking sources for this weapon and typically keeps the item in stock rather than rotating it out.

How to Unlock the Vendor

• Reach Chapter 8. Pailune opens at the end of Chapter 7. The Odek tribe quest line is only available once Chapter 8 is active.

• Complete 15 of 27 Pailune Militia faction quests. These appear on the Pailune contribution board.

• Finish the Skoghorn Tribe or Longleaf Tribe quest set. Completing one automatically unlocks the other; either counts toward the gate.

• Return to Pailune. Fast travel back to the Pailune fast travel point to trigger the Stjar clan and Odek tribe quests on the board.

• Complete the Odek quest Executioner of Justice. This includes the three red-smoke pit puzzle (stab to drain, not cleave) and a boss fight against the Ashen Warrior. Defeating him liberates the Odek ruins and enables the vendor.

Trust Gifts

The Odek vendor accepts any hide type as a trust gift, which makes trust 100 reachable using the hides already accumulated from hunting around Pailune and Wayward Woods. Gifting hides until the vendor reaches trust 100 unlocks the vendor's full inventory and any trust-gated exclusives.

Weapon Notes

Buying the logging axe from the Odek vendor skips the blacksmith crafting step entirely, which is useful when iron or copper stockpiles are thin. The vendor-sold version has the same stats as the crafted version.
