Overview
The Fox is a small, cunning predator found in Crimson Desert. Known for its high adaptability, the fox thrives across a wide variety of environments in the southern regions of Pywel. In the game's Bestiary, foxes are categorized under Predators alongside wolves and bears, though they are significantly less dangerous than their larger counterparts.
Location and Habitat
Foxes are found primarily in the southern regions of Pywel. They are widespread and adaptable, making their homes in forests, grasslands, and even near the outskirts of settlements. According to the Lifeforms entry, the fox "plots schemes while hiding" and is highly adaptable to different environments. Foxes are known to steal livestock from farms, which explains why farmers across Pywel regard them as pests.
Behavior
Unlike wolves and bears, foxes are not typically aggressive toward players. They are skittish by nature and will often flee when approached. This makes them more difficult to hunt than larger, slower predators. Foxes rarely fall for traps, reflecting their reputation for cunning intelligence in the game world. When cornered, a fox will fight back, but it poses minimal threat to a reasonably equipped player.
Hunting Drops
Foxes yield smaller quantities of crafting materials compared to large animals. Skinning a fox provides:
Thin Hide: Foxes are small mammals and produce Thin Hide when skinned.
Meat: A small amount of meat, usable in cooking recipes.
Tips
Foxes are fast and will run when they see you. Use a bow for a ranged kill before they escape.
Their Thin Hide is used in certain crafting recipes and counts toward the "When Animals Die" Hunting Challenge.
Foxes are more active during twilight hours. Watch for them near farms and woodland edges at dawn and dusk.
