Hunting Challenges

Overview

Hunting Challenges are a set of 11 challenges in Crimson Desert that belong to the Life category. These challenges revolve around wildlife interaction: catching birds, hunting animals, and collecting various types of hides through skinning. Completing all 11 Hunting Challenges unlocks the Ultimate Hunter trophy and achievement.

Each Hunting Challenge is unlocked by picking up a Sealed Abyss Artifact from a specific roadside location. The artifact describes what you need to do, typically involving gathering specific animal materials or interacting with wildlife across the continent of Pywel.

How Hunting Challenges Work

Hunting in Crimson Desert involves tracking, killing, and skinning animals in the open world. Different animals yield different materials: Thin Hide, Thick Hide, Sturdy Hide, Short Hair Hide, and Long Hair Hide. Some challenges require collecting all five types, which means hunting a variety of creatures across different regions.

Bird-catching challenges work differently. You approach living birds in the environment and press the interact button to pick them up. You need to catch different species; the same bird caught repeatedly does not count toward the total.

Detailed Walkthroughs

1. Feather of the Earth

Pick up the Sealed Abyss Artifact on the south side of the road, northwest of Karin Quarry Rest Area in Hernand. The challenge asks you to carry 5 different birds. Walk up to birds in the environment and press the interact button to pick them up.

The important detail is that you need 5 different bird species. Picking up the same type of bird multiple times does not count. Look for different birds near rivers, lakes, forests, and open fields. Common spots include the shores around Hernand's waterways and the forested areas near Bloomwood Ranch.

5. When Animals Die

The artifact sits southeast of the Duskway Camp Ironcrawler Station. This challenge requires you to collect all five hide types through skinning: Thin Hide, Thick Hide, Sturdy Hide, Short Hair Hide, and Long Hair Hide. Each comes from different animals.

Hunt a variety of wildlife to get all types. Small creatures like rabbits tend to yield Thin Hide, while larger animals like bears or boars drop Thick and Sturdy Hides. Goats and sheep provide the hair-type hides. After killing an animal, interact with the carcass to skin it. The Hunting skill in the Life Skills menu can improve your chances of getting rarer hide types.

Tips

• Carry a ranged weapon for hunting. A bow or crossbow lets you take down animals before they flee.

• Birds are found near water, in open fields, and around farms. Approach slowly to avoid scaring them off.

• Skinning requires you to interact with the dead animal. If enemies are nearby, clear the area first.

• Hunting Challenges reward Abyss passives focused on stamina, beast affinity, and survival.

• Track your progress in the Challenges menu. It shows exactly which hide types or bird species you still need.
