The Profession Skills system in Starsand Island lets you spend Starsand Points to unlock passive bonuses and active abilities for each of the five professions. Skills are managed through the Workpedia app on your phone, which becomes available after reaching Apprentice rank in any profession. There are 44 skills spread across the five profession trees, each providing upgrades that make your daily activities faster, more efficient, or more rewarding.
Open your phone and select the Workpedia app. The app displays five skill trees, one for each profession: Crafter, Farmer, Angler, Rancher, and Explorer. Each tree has multiple skill nodes that can be unlocked by spending Starsand Points. Higher-tier skills require both points and a minimum profession certification level. Select any profession to view its available skills and your current progress.
Starsand Points are the currency used to purchase skills in the Workpedia. They can be earned through several activities:
Source | Points Earned |
|---|---|
Bulletin Board (1-star requests) | 25 Starsand Points per request |
Bulletin Board (2-star requests) | 35 Starsand Points per request |
Bulletin Board (trial/quest) | 70 to 100 Starsand Points |
Scenery Album Photos | 20 Starsand Points per new scenic photo |
StarNote Achievements | Varies by achievement tier |
Island Life Milestones | Varies; escalating rewards at higher milestones |
Profession Advancement | One-time bonus per certification tier |
The Bulletin Board at the Community Center refreshes daily at 6 AM in-game time, making it one of the most consistent sources of Starsand Points. StarNote achievements are completed through normal gameplay activities, and unclaimed rewards are worth checking regularly. Island Life milestones provide increasingly generous rewards as you progress.
Points are shared across all professions. You spend from a single pool, which means you must choose which skills to prioritize, especially early on when points are scarce.
Each profession has five certification tiers. Advancing to a higher tier unlocks additional skills in that profession's Workpedia tree, as well as new tool blueprints and crafting recipes.
Tier | Description |
|---|---|
Apprentice | Starting tier. Unlocks the Workpedia app and basic skills. Earned by completing the introductory quest from your profession mentor. |
Junior | Second tier. Unlocks additional skills and tool upgrades. |
Intermediate | Third tier. Unlocks mid-level skills and recipes. |
Senior | Fourth tier. Unlocks advanced skills and high-tier equipment. |
Expert | Final tier. Unlocks the most powerful skills in the profession tree. |
To advance between tiers, you must complete trial quests given by your profession mentor. Each trial involves demonstrating mastery of that profession's core activities.
Profession | Mentor | Location | Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
Crafter | Crafting, processing, tool creation | ||
Farmer | Crop growth, harvesting, soil management | ||
Angler | Fishing, bait, rod techniques | ||
Rancher | Animal care, breeding, products | ||
Explorer | Combat, mining, dungeon exploration |
The Crafter skill tree contains 7 skills focused on crafting efficiency, resource processing, and stamina management. Mentor: Zerine.
Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
Recuperate | Increases stamina recovery speed while sitting down |
Supply Boost | Increases the quantity of raw materials gathered |
Golden Crafter | Allows refreshing the General Store inventory once per day |
Material Saver | Reduces material consumption during crafting |
Quick Hands | Speeds up crafting time at workstations |
Ingot Expert | Improves ingot processing at the furnace |
Blueprint Scholar | Enhances blueprint discovery and learning |
Recuperate is widely recommended as one of the first skills to unlock. Stamina is the biggest bottleneck in the early game, and recovering stamina by sitting on benches or chairs is significantly faster with this skill active.
The Farmer skill tree contains 11 skills, the largest of any profession. These skills cover planting, growing, and harvesting crops. Mentor: Graminova.
Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
Effortless Tilling | Reduces the stamina cost of using the hoe |
Seed Spreader | Allows sowing multiple seeds at once for faster planting |
Harvest Season | Increases the chance of receiving a bountiful harvest |
Chain Harvest | Harvesting one mature crop automatically triggers harvest of nearby mature crops |
Golden Farmer | Allows refreshing the Happiness Seed Shop inventory once per day |
Eternal Blessing | Grants a chance to receive Immortal Seeds when harvesting |
Green Thumb | Improves overall crop quality |
Master Harvester | Enhances harvesting yield |
Soil Expert | Improves soil condition effects on crops |
Speed Growth | Accelerates crop growth speed |
Rain Dancer | Provides watering-related benefits during rain |
Effortless Tilling is recommended as an early unlock since tilling consumes significant stamina. Seed Spreader and Chain Harvest are strong quality-of-life upgrades that reduce the time spent on repetitive farming tasks. Eternal Blessing becomes valuable later when you want to secure rare Immortal Seeds for permanent crops.
The Explorer skill tree contains 12 skills, covering combat, exploration, and resource gathering in the Moonlit Forest. Mentor: Zephyria.
Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
Power Strike | Increases the chance of landing critical hits in combat |
Ammo Recycle | Grants a chance to recover ammunition after hitting a target |
Victory Siphon | Increases the chance of finding double treasure chests |
Beast Tracker | Prevents passing out when defeated in combat |
Bounty Hunter | Grants additional coins from defeating enemies |
Shattering Blow | Increases damage dealt to enemies |
Swift Strike | Increases attack speed in combat |
Combat Medic | Provides healing benefits during combat encounters |
Dungeon Runner | Enhances performance in the Moonlit Forest |
Durable Explorer | Improves stamina efficiency during exploration |
Resource Magnet | Increases resource drops from mining and gathering |
Treasure Sense | Improves detection of hidden treasures |
Ammo Recycle and Victory Siphon are considered the best early Explorer investments. Ammo Recycle saves you from constantly crafting ammunition for your slingshot, while Victory Siphon doubles your treasure output from dungeon runs. Beast Tracker is worth picking up if you find yourself getting knocked out frequently in the Moonlit Forest.
The Angler skill tree contains 7 skills focused on fishing mechanics, rod performance, and catch rates. Mentor: Delphin.
Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
Deep Sea Expert | Improves deep-sea fishing performance |
Flow Fishing | Enhances fishing timing and flow mechanics |
Lucky Bait | Increases the effectiveness of fishing bait |
Night Angler | Improves fishing results during nighttime hours |
Patient Fisher | Extends the patience window when reeling in fish |
Rod Expert | Enhances fishing rod effectiveness and durability |
Seasoned Angler | Provides general fishing improvements |
Angler skills are particularly helpful when targeting rare fish species and King Fish. Upgrading your fishing perks through the Workpedia before attempting to catch King Fish is highly recommended.
The Rancher skill tree contains 7 skills related to animal care, breeding, and product quality. Mentor: Pastelle.
Skill | Effect |
|---|---|
Animal Whisperer | Improves animal happiness and interaction responses |
Breeding Maestro | Enhances animal breeding success rates |
Genetics Expert | Improves genetic trait inheritance during breeding |
Happy Herd | Boosts overall animal mood and satisfaction |
Product Expert | Improves the quality of animal products |
Quick Feeder | Speeds up animal feeding routines |
Ranch Hand | Provides general ranching efficiency improvements |
Ranching skills matter most for players running large animal operations with multiple barns and coops. Breeding Maestro and Genetics Expert are valuable if you are actively working on animal breeding for specific trait combinations. For casual ranchers, other profession trees may provide more value per point.
Since Starsand Points are limited early on, focus your spending on skills that provide the most daily value. Based on community recommendations:
Recuperate (Crafter): Your first priority. Stamina is the biggest bottleneck in the early game, and recovering stamina by sitting becomes dramatically faster with this skill.
Effortless Tilling (Farmer): If you farm at all, the stamina saved from tilling adds up quickly over a season.
Ammo Recycle (Explorer): Saves you from constantly crafting ammunition. Essential for regular Moonlit Forest exploration.
Seed Spreader (Farmer): A strong quality-of-life upgrade that cuts down the time spent planting each season.
Victory Siphon (Explorer): Doubles your treasure chest rewards, making every dungeon run more rewarding.
Avoid spreading your points too thin across all five trees early on. Focus on one or two professions that match your primary gameplay style, then branch out as you earn more points from StarNote Achievements and Island Life milestones.
The March 6, 2026 patch (v0.3.2537) introduced several changes to the profession system:
Enhanced the Electric Drill and Chainsaw with stamina recovery-related skill effects. Explorer profession skills now interact with advanced tools, recovering stamina during mining and logging activities.
Lowered entry thresholds for profession commissions, making it easier to advance professions and unlock higher-tier skill nodes.
These changes significantly increased the value of the Explorer skill tree for players who use late-game tools.
Unlock the Workpedia as early as possible by reaching Apprentice in any profession. The Crafter profession is typically learned first since crafting is required for most other activities.
Check StarNote Achievements regularly. Many achievements complete passively through normal gameplay, and unclaimed Starsand Points are missed opportunities.
The Bulletin Board at the Community Center refreshes daily at 6 AM. Make it part of your morning routine to accept and complete requests for a steady stream of Starsand Points.
Taking photos at scenic points of interest earns 20 Starsand Points each. Explore the island thoroughly to find all scenic spots.
Some skills have multiple ranks. Check whether upgrading to the next rank provides meaningful benefits before investing additional points.
Do not neglect the Golden Crafter and Golden Farmer skills. Being able to refresh shop inventories once per day is extremely useful for finding specific items you need.
