Noctowl

Overview

Noctowl is a Normal/Flying-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Owl Pokemon (Dex #049). Noctowl is found in the Withered Wasteland at the Elevated Tall Grass habitat as a Rare nighttime-exclusive spawn. Like Hoothoot, Noctowl carries the Fly and Trade specialties. In the main Pokemon series, Noctowl is the evolution of Hoothoot, but there is no evolution mechanic in Pokopia; each form must be befriended separately.

Noctowl lives in the Elevated Tall Grass habitat (#006). This habitat requires tall grass placed on a high-up location:

Nighttime-Only Spawn

Noctowl is an exclusive nighttime spawn. It will only appear during the Night period (7:00 PM to 6:00 AM). Pokemon Pokopia uses a real-time day and night cycle synced to the Nintendo Switch 2's internal clock. Combined with its Rare rarity, Noctowl is one of the more difficult common-habitat Pokemon to encounter. You may need to check back on multiple nights.

Location

Noctowl appears in Withered Wasteland. Build the Elevated Tall Grass habitat on a raised platform or cliff edge, then return during nighttime hours. Since Noctowl is both Rare and nighttime-exclusive, it can take several nights of checking before it appears.

How to Befriend

Build the Elevated Tall Grass habitat on a high-up location in Withered Wasteland. Visit the habitat during Night (7:00 PM to 6:00 AM real-world time) and check for Noctowl among the visitors. Since it is a Rare spawn, you may need to return across multiple nights. Walk up and interact with Noctowl to befriend it.

Specialties

Fly

Noctowl has the Fly specialty. Fly allows fast-travel to a specific befriended Pokemon's current location within the same zone. This is one of the most convenient movement options, letting you quickly reach distant parts of a region without walking.

Trade

Noctowl also has the Trade specialty. Pokemon with Trade can operate shops and bartering stations at powered Cash Registers. Place Noctowl near a Cash Register to set up a trading post.

Comparison With Hoothoot

Both Noctowl and Hoothoot share the same Elevated Tall Grass habitat, the same nighttime spawn requirement, and the same Fly and Trade specialties. The key difference is rarity: Hoothoot is Common while Noctowl is Rare. Functionally, both perform the same tasks, so Hoothoot is the easier alternative if you simply need a Fly or Trade Pokemon. Noctowl's higher rarity makes it more of a collector's target. Noctowl also has slightly different preference likes (it favors letters, words, and containers over fabric and wobbly stuff).

Tips

• If you need Fly or Trade quickly, befriend Hoothoot first since it is a Common nighttime spawn at the same habitat.

• Use the time traveling method to skip to nighttime if you cannot play during real-world evening hours.

• Noctowl prefers dark environments. Avoid placing bright lights near its habitat. Furnish the area with soft, bookish, and container items for higher Comfort Level.

• Building multiple Elevated Tall Grass habitats increases the chances of a Rare Noctowl spawn appearing during any given night.
