Overview
inZOI entered Early Access on March 28, 2025, on PC via Steam with two cities: Dowon and Bliss Bay. Since launch, KRAFTON has delivered a series of major updates approximately every two to three months, each introducing substantial new systems, content, and quality-of-life improvements. The game also received its first free DLC, Island Getaway, in August 2025, which added a third city, Cahaya. Minor hotfix patches have been released between major updates to address bugs and stability issues. This article documents every significant version from launch through February 2026.
v0.1.0 - Early Access Launch (March 28, 2025)
The initial Early Access release established the core gameplay foundation. Players could create Zois in the Character Studio, move them into homes in Dowon or Bliss Bay, build and furnish houses, pursue careers, develop relationships, and manage daily life. Key launch features included:

v0.1.1 (March 29, 2025)
First hotfix, released one day after launch. Fixed UI button disappearance in Simplified Chinese, lobby menu functionality issues, family settings mismatches, and custom outfit persistence problems after restart.
v0.1.2 (March 30, 2025)
Corrected creator display issues, headset equipment bugs after gift-giving, and moire visual artifacts on screen elements. NVIDIA driver recommendations were provided for optimal performance.
v0.1.3 (April 1, 2025)
Adjusted lifespan rules so only senior-aged Zois could die naturally, preventing premature deaths that had frustrated players. Fixed issues where clothing remained dirty or damaged after washing, and resolved custom outfit/accessory disappearance after game restart.
v0.1.4 (April 4, 2025)
Introduced age adjustment features and reduced sleep duration for smoother gameplay pacing. Slowed karma change rates and family relationship growth speed. Zois could now eat immediately after cooking instead of waiting. Pregnancy mechanics were improved.
v0.1.5 (April 15, 2025)
Improved Build Mode camera controls with a new free camera mode using WASD keys. Added 3 new shadow options in Graphics settings for improved character appearance. Enhanced character shadows. Fixed save file corruption caused by Map Mode. Addressed issues where Zois would repeatedly die at the same age, fixed fire incident bugs, and corrected multiple ambition goal tracking problems. Removed karma requirements for animal feeding.
v0.1.7 (April 28, 2025)
Addressed the issue where Zois' emotions would change too rapidly and unnaturally -- the primary emotion now only changes if the emotional score reaches 2 points or higher. Hunger restoration from street food was adjusted to prevent Zois from getting hungry too frequently. Fixed an issue where Zois' facial appearance set in Create a Zoi appeared differently in-game. Corrected Build Mode issues with stairs and wall materials.
v0.2.0 - ModKit and Expanded Simulation (June 13, 2025)
The first major content update arrived approximately two and a half months after launch, focusing on modding tools, expanded relationships, and quality-of-life improvements.

The official ModKit was released, giving the community tools to create custom content:

v0.3.0 - Island Getaway DLC and Base Game Overhaul (August 20, 2025)
The largest update to date arrived alongside inZOI's first free DLC. The update overhauled the emotion system, added water activities, introduced farming and crafting, expanded to a third city, and brought Mac support.
Cahaya (Island Getaway DLC)
The free Island Getaway DLC introduced Cahaya, inZOI's third city, a resort-themed tropical destination comprised of three islands. The DLC must be installed separately via the Steam store page.

v0.4.0 - Halloween Update (October 30, 2025)
The autumn update paired the first seasonal event with major simulation system overhauls and the long-awaited Ghost Play feature.
Ghost Play and Funeral System
Zois can now continue playing as ghosts for three in-game days after death
17 death types each produce ghosts with unique abilities (fire ghosts can set things ablaze, starvation ghosts make others hungry, etc.)
New Funeral Home, Columbarium, and Cemetery property types added to all three cities
Urns generated for deceased Zois; funerals held via "Make Event" option
Ghosts can ascend to the afterlife or attend their own funeral
Ghost Appearance Rate Slider added to City Edit menu

The final major update of 2025 added economic gameplay systems, a criminal underworld, multitasking, and the winter Holiday Festival event.
Business Ownership
Zois can own and operate businesses including cafes, bakeries, bars, and restaurants
Hands-on management: set business hours, hire employees with skill-based autonomous work, manage accounting
Multi-store management system for running multiple businesses, transferable between household members

Crime System
Zois meeting certain conditions (2,000 Meow or less, excessive debt, psychological stress, or having the Rulebreaker trait) unlock crime interactions
Two criminal paths: thieves who break in and steal, and scammers who use phishing and fraud
Suspicious Job Agency: Take on shady jobs and purchase crime information from the Bulletin Board
Crime Score tracks illegal activity; high scores trigger automatic arrest by police
Wanted notices last up to one day for thieves who successfully escape
Trial system: Players choose between free or elite lawyers, complete trial preparation missions, and face opportunity cards during the trial itself
Trial outcomes include acquittal, fines, or police custody; not-guilty verdicts are difficult to secure
Bail posting option to secure release while awaiting trial
Multitasking and Group Actions
One of the most requested features, multitasking allowed Zois to perform multiple actions simultaneously, such as talking while eating, eating while watching TV, or chatting while using computers. Group actions enabled more natural social dynamics where multiple Zois could participate in shared activities together with improved positioning and movement mechanics.

2026 Development Roadmap
On December 26, 2025, game director Kjun outlined the development plan for 2026 under the theme "Fundamentals First." The team aims for 7-8 updates throughout 2026, with the first half focused on new content and the second half increasingly dedicated to strengthening core systems (jobs, building, terrain editing). All features are planned as free additions for Early Access owners. Kjun mentioned the possibility of releasing Fundamentals First improvements on a monthly basis.
