Dairy Cow

Overview

The Dairy Cow is a domesticated livestock variant raised specifically for milk production in Crimson Desert. Unlike regular cows, Dairy Cows are kept on ranches and managed through the Housing and Farming system at the player's camp. They are listed in the Knowledge System as a lifeform entry.

Milk Production

Dairy Cows are the primary source of Milk, a fresh ingredient used in Cooking recipes and beverages. The Milk Harvest Mission at Bloomwood Ranch introduces players to dairy production as part of the "Field of Abundance" questline given by Ben at Greymane Camp.

To begin producing milk, players must complete the Milk Harvest Mission through the dispatch board at Bloomwood Ranch. Once the ranch facility is constructed at Howling Hill, Dairy Cows can be raised alongside other livestock for ongoing milk production.

In-Game Role

Milk from Dairy Cows feeds directly into the camp's cooking system. It is used as an ingredient in several recipes and provides a renewable resource without requiring players to purchase it from vendors. Keeping Dairy Cows at the ranch means a steady supply of milk alongside the meat and hides produced by other livestock.

How to Acquire

There are three ways to add Dairy Cows to your ranch:

Purchasing from Ben

Reach 100 Trust with Bremer, the rancher whose home was destroyed by a falling sky rock. Bremer can be found at Muckroot Ranch near Hernand Town during the day, at the Hernand Inn in the evenings, and by Chapter 5 he relocates to the Hernand Town Square near the notice board. Once Bremer's Trust reaches 100, Ben at your home base unlocks cattle in his livestock shop. Make sure you select the Dairy variant when purchasing; regular cows are kept for meat and do not produce milk.

Wild Capture

Wild Dairy Cows roam certain pastures in the world and can be led back to your ranch. Approach a wild Dairy Cow carefully and use the taming interaction to claim it. Confirm the animal is labeled "Dairy" before guiding it to your ranch, because the ranch system does not register non-dairy variants for milk production.

Breeding

With both a female Dairy Cow and a male bull on your ranch, breeding becomes available. Offspring inherit the dairy trait from the mother, allowing you to expand your herd without additional purchases or wild captures.

Milk Harvesting

Living Dairy Cows produce Milk on a recurring schedule. Milk is classified as a fresh cooking ingredient and a renewable resource. It can also be purchased from Grocer shops in towns across all regions, but ranch production eliminates the ongoing cost.

Dairy Cows can be butchered for the following materials:

In most cases, keeping Dairy Cows alive for ongoing milk production is more profitable than butchering, unless you specifically need hides or bones for crafting.

Cooking Recipes Using Milk

Milk is an essential seasoning used in cooking recipes. The notable recipe requiring Milk is:

Boiled Meat is prepared using an Iron Pot or Field Pot at a cooking station. The Ice Resistance buff makes it particularly useful before entering cold regions.

Ranch Setup

The ranch facility must be constructed at Howling Hill before any livestock can be kept. The initial Milk Harvest Mission at Bloomwood Ranch, given through the dispatch board as part of the "Field of Abundance" questline from Ben at Greymane Camp, introduces the dairy production system. Completing this mission takes approximately 17 hours of in-game time. You can sleep at camp for 12 hours to speed up the wait.

• Complete the Milk Harvest Mission at Bloomwood Ranch early to unlock dairy production for your camp.

• Dairy Cows complement the ranch's other livestock. Raise them alongside goats and pigs for a diverse supply of Crafting Materials and cooking ingredients.
