Common Materials
Common Materials are miscellaneous Crafting Materials found throughout Crimson Desert. This category includes Gunpowder, Empty Bottle, Spider Web, Cloth Piece, and Cogwheel. Unlike materials that come from specific sources like hunting or mining, common materials are obtained from a variety of sources including enemy drops, vendor purchases, and general world exploration.
These materials serve diverse purposes across multiple crafting disciplines. They are used in projectile manufacturing, alchemy preparations, equipment repair, and miscellaneous crafting recipes. Because they come from varied sources, common materials tend to accumulate naturally as players progress through the game.

Where to Find Common Materials
Common materials are scattered across a wide range of sources. Humanoid enemies such as bandits and mercenaries frequently drop Cloth Pieces and Gunpowder. Spider-infested caves and the dark forested areas of the map are the primary source of Spider Web. Empty Bottles can be found in many abandoned structures and are also readily available at alchemy shops in towns.
Cogwheels are among the rarer common materials. They tend to drop from mechanical or construct-type enemies and can be found in old ruins and workshops. Some specialty vendors in larger towns also sell Cogwheels, though their stock is limited.
Supply crates found during quests and in dungeons often contain a random assortment of common materials, making them a good incidental source while pursuing other objectives.
Uses
Each common material serves distinct crafting purposes:
Gunpowder is essential for crafting ammunition for hand cannons and firearms, as well as explosive throwable projectiles. Players who use ranged weapons will consume Gunpowder regularly.
Empty Bottles are the container component for alchemy recipes. Every potion, elixir, and alchemical solution requires at least one Empty Bottle as a base.
Spider Web is used in crafting certain traps and as a binding material in some armor recipes. It also appears in a few alchemy recipes that require adhesive components.
Cloth Pieces are versatile crafting scraps used for bandages, cloth armor repairs, and as padding in equipment upgrades.
Cogwheels are used in crafting mechanical tools and certain advanced equipment upgrades that incorporate gear mechanisms.
Tips
Clear bandit camps regularly to accumulate Gunpowder and Cloth Pieces as you progress through the story.
Buy Empty Bottles in bulk from alchemy vendors before embarking on an alchemy crafting session. Running out mid-session is a common frustration.
Spider Webs are location-specific, so mark cave entrances on your map when you encounter spider nests for future farming runs.
