Overview
The Dowon Subway System is the primary public transportation method in Dowon. It consists of an underground train network with stations spread throughout the city, marked on the map. The subway allows Zois to fast travel between stations, making it the fastest way to cross the city without owning a car. Unlike Bliss Bay, which uses a bus system, Dowon has no bus routes and relies entirely on the subway for public transit.
How to Use the Subway
Automatic Method
The simplest way to use the subway is through the city map. Open the map by pressing the M key, select any destination, and click "Go Here." The game will automatically route your Zoi to the nearest subway station, ride the train to the station closest to the destination, and then walk the remaining distance. The system handles all the routing automatically, and a loading screen plays during the transit.
Manual Method
Players can also walk directly to a subway station entrance and enter it manually. Once inside, select the destination station from the available list to fast travel there. This method gives more control over the route but requires knowing where the stations are located.
Travel Speed
When a Zoi is traveling to the subway station, they walk at normal speed. The actual train ride happens through a loading screen transition with no real-time wait. Players can use the fast-forward function (located at the bottom left of the screen) to speed up the walking portions, though this also advances in-game time accordingly.
Cost
The subway appears to be free to use. No fare or Meow cost is deducted when traveling by subway, making it an economical alternative to taxis and car ownership.
Comparison with Other Transit
Each city in inZOI has its own public transportation system. The subway is exclusive to Dowon.
City | Transit Type | How It Works |
|---|---|---|
Subway | Underground train stations; fast travel between subway stops | |
Public Bus | Bus stops around the city; fast travel between bus stops | |
Water Taxi / Boat Rentals | Yellow boats at docks; free water taxis to any island; also rentable boats |
The subway only connects subway stations to other subway stations. It is not possible to transfer directly from a subway station to a bus stop in another city. For inter-city travel, Zois must use the smartphone's flight booking feature.
Notable Locations Near Stations
While specific station names are not individually labeled in the game, stations are positioned near key landmarks throughout Dowon. The Metro House residential lot (14m x 9.5m, the smallest in Dowon) is specifically described as "conveniently located near a subway station, allowing for easy travel access anywhere." This makes it an ideal starter home for Zois who rely on public transit.
Subway vs. Driving
If a Zoi owns a car, the "Drive Here" option becomes available as an alternative when using the map. However, the subway remains the default transportation method even when a car is owned. Players must manually select the driving option if they prefer to use their vehicle instead.
Weather Considerations
The subway becomes especially important during harsh weather conditions. Dowon experiences four distinct seasons, and winter brings heavy snow and cold temperatures that can make outdoor travel dangerous. Taking the subway helps Zois avoid prolonged exposure to extreme cold, which can lead to sickness or, in severe cases, death from hypothermia if left untreated.
Tips
Always use "Go Here" on the map for the fastest route; the game automatically picks the nearest subway station
The subway is free, making it the most cost-effective way to commute to work or visit community lots
Use the fast-forward button during walking segments to reduce real-time travel, but remember this also advances the in-game clock
Consider buying Metro House as a starter home for its proximity to a subway station and low price
In winter, prefer the subway over walking to avoid weather-related illness from cold exposure
If you own a car but the game keeps routing to the subway, manually select "Drive Here" instead of "Go Here"
