The Blood Coronation
Walkthrough for The Blood Coronation, the 116th main quest in Crimson Desert. Kliff investigates Duke Caliburn's old office through Visione Helmet memory fragments to find Myurdin's whereabouts, follows ghosts to the audience chamber, examines noble groups, and faces Gabriel Caliburn in a scripted encounter.

Overview
The Blood Coronation is the 116th main quest in Crimson Desert and the ninth mission in the To Demeniss sub-chapter of Chapter 8: Blood Coronation. This is the quest that gives the entire chapter its name. After defeating Fortain, Kliff enters the Demeniss capital palace to investigate Duke Caliburn's old office using the Visione Helmet. The primary objective is to find Myurdin's whereabouts by reading memory fragments tied to the office.
The quest is entirely investigation-focused until the very end, when a memory of a historic slaughter triggers a confrontation with Gabriel Caliburn. This encounter is a scripted loss; Kliff is defeated regardless of player skill, and control then shifts to Damiane for the next quest.

Walkthrough
Step 1: Reach the Old Office
Enter the palace. Travel to the large palace in the Demeniss capital. The building is heavily guarded, but hostile enemies can be fought without reputation consequences.
Fight through or avoid enemies. Guards patrol the palace interior. You can kill them or dodge past them. Be careful of grapple attacks: if a guard grabs you and you fail the QTE (Triangle/Y), you respawn on the rooftops outside and have to re-enter.
Find the office on the second floor. Follow the waypoint markers upstairs. The office resembles a large banquet hall rather than a typical study. When you enter the correct room, your lantern will begin to glow, confirming you have found Duke Caliburn's old office.
Step 2: Activate the Memory Fragment
Scan the blue ghosts. Inside the office, raise your lantern and hold L1/LB to examine the blue ghost figures. Keep holding the button until the "Learning in Progress" bar fills completely.
Play the memory fragment. Once the memory has been learned, press the Start/Menu button to open the Visione interface and select the Blood Coronation memory fragment to begin playback. Alternatively, hold the Options button and choose "Memory Fragment" from the right-side menu.
Step 3: Follow the Ghosts
Do not exit Visione mode. This is the most common mistake in this quest. Stay in the Visione Helmet (do not press Circle/B) throughout this entire section. A conversation will play out in front of you, and then two people from the memory will exit the room the way they came. Follow them at their pace as they move downstairs toward the main audience chamber.
The ghosts walk at a set speed; simply trail behind them and keep the helmet active. If you accidentally remove the Visione Helmet or lose track of the ghosts, see the Recovery section below for how to restart the sequence.
Step 4: Examine the Nobles
Identify the bright ghosts. In the audience chamber, you will see a memory of nobles mingling. Three blue ghost figures glow brighter than the others and display a "Square/X: EXAMINE" prompt when targeted.
Examine each group. Work your way around the room interacting with each group of nobles until a cutscene triggers. You must examine all three to piece together the historical events that took place in this chamber. Do not remove the helmet during this phase.
Step 5: Gabriel Caliburn
After examining all three groups, the memory shifts to depict a historic slaughter that occurred in the audience chamber. A cutscene plays, and then Gabriel Caliburn confronts Kliff directly.
You are meant to lose this fight. Gabriel Caliburn attacks, and no amount of skill or healing items will prevent your defeat. The encounter is scripted so that Caliburn always wins. Do not waste valuable consumables trying to change the outcome. Let him defeat you, and a final cutscene triggers, transitioning gameplay to Damiane for the next quest.
Combat Tips for the Encounter
Even though the fight cannot be won, you can prolong the encounter and experience more of the battle by fighting back. If you choose to engage rather than simply letting Caliburn win:
Bring plenty of food. Stock up on Grilled Meat or other recovery items before entering the palace. Healing while attacking lets you stay in the fight longer.
Chain combos together. String your combat abilities into extended sequences to deal as much damage as possible during your openings.
Use parry to break his stance. Gabriel Caliburn is a human-sized opponent with telegraphed strikes. Successfully parrying his attacks will stagger him quickly, giving you windows to counterattack.
Recovery: Restarting the Memory
If you mess up the memory sequence at any point (for example, by accidentally exiting Visione mode or losing track of the ghosts), you do not need to reload a save. Instead:
Press left on the D-pad to open the Gear Quick Slot radial menu.
Select the Visione from the radial menu.
Choose the Blood Coronation memory fragment to restart the sequence from the beginning.
Note that restarting sends you back to the very start of the memory. You will need to follow the two ghosts downstairs and examine all three noble groups again.
Notes
The Visione Helmet is used extensively throughout Chapter 8. If the scan and memory process feels familiar, it should: you performed identical steps in Ritual Preparations and Whispering Shadows.
The "banquet hall" appearance of the office throws some players off. If you cannot find it, look for the largest room on the second floor and watch for your lantern to start glowing.
Gabriel Caliburn's appearance here connects to the broader lore about the Demeniss civil war and the betrayal that led to the "Blood Coronation" event referenced in the chapter title.
After this quest, control shifts to Damiane for the Clue quest. You will resume playing as Kliff in subsequent chapters.
The quest has no rewards listed in the quest log, but it advances the main story and provides important narrative context about Myurdin and the Caliburn bloodline.
