Overview
Duel Challenges are a set of 5 challenges in Crimson Desert under the Minigame category. These challenges involve unarmed combat in arenas, where Kliff fights opponents using only his fists. Each challenge requires winning a streak of consecutive matches and then defeating a champion. Completing all Duel Challenges (along with the Test of Strength Challenges) contributes toward the True Gamer trophy and achievement.
Unarmed duels are a full combat encounter without weapons. You can dodge, block, and throw punches, but swords, bows, and other weapons are off limits. The arena fights play out like normal combat encounters but with a restricted moveset.
How Duels Work
To start a duel, equip only gloves from the weapon wheel. This puts Kliff into unarmed mode. Then speak with the fight host at an arena location. Each duel is a one-on-one fistfight. Win the required number of consecutive matches, then face the champion in the final round.
Losing any match resets your streak back to zero. The arena remains accessible after quest completion, so you can return and retry whenever you want. Unarmed combat relies heavily on dodging and counterattacking, since you lack the range and damage of weapons.

Detailed Walkthroughs
1. Steel Fist 1
Steel Fist 1 unlocks automatically during Chapter 4 of the main story. During the "Daily Life" sub-chapter, you receive the quest "Disturbance at the Arena." This quest takes you to an arena where unarmed duels are held.
Open the weapon wheel and equip only gloves (no weapons). Talk to the fight host to begin. You face 3 regular opponents in a row, then the champion in a 4th match. The regular opponents are not too difficult. Focus on dodging their attacks and countering with quick jab combos.
The champion hits harder and blocks more frequently. Wait for him to throw a combo, dodge to the side, then punish with your own attacks. Do not get greedy with long combos; land 2-3 hits and back away. The champion will try to overwhelm you with aggression, so patience is the key.
After completing the quest, the arena stays open. You can return at any point to redo fights or attempt the next Steel Fist challenge. The reward for the first challenge is money.
General Strategy for All Steel Fist Challenges
Unarmed combat in Crimson Desert rewards patience and timing over raw aggression. Without weapons, your damage per hit is lower, so fights take longer. Champions in later Steel Fist challenges will have more health and deal more damage.
Dodge is your best tool. Side-dodge enemy attacks and counter immediately.
Keep combos short. Two or three hits, then back off to avoid the counter.
Block when you cannot dodge. Blocking reduces damage but does not eliminate it entirely.
Learn enemy patterns. Each opponent telegraphs their attacks with specific animations.
If you lose, the streak resets. Take a break and come back fresh rather than retrying in frustration.
Arena Locations
The first arena is accessible during Chapter 4 and remains available afterward. Additional arena locations may open in other regions as you progress the story. Each region likely has its own arena with progressively harder opponents for Steel Fist 2 through 5.
Tips
Make sure you equip gloves from the weapon wheel. You cannot start a duel with a weapon equipped.
The arena from Steel Fist 1 is replayable. Use it to practice unarmed combat whenever you want.
Duel Challenges count toward the True Gamer trophy alongside Test of Strength Challenges.
Unarmed skills from the blue skill tree may help with duels. Check if any wrestling or grappling moves are available.
Champions block frequently. Do not just spam attacks; wait for openings after their combos.
