Sharpened Spear IV is a Challenge in Crimson Desert. It belongs to the Spear line of Mastery challenges, which test the player's proficiency with a specific weapon through short, focused combat objectives. Completing Sharpened Spear IV requires the player to defeat three enemies within one minute using a Spear Leap Attack.
Challenges in Crimson Desert are optional objectives that can be picked up by finding Sealed Abyss Artifacts in the world, by exploring regions, or by progressing through the main story. Clearing them rewards unique items, Insight progression, and transforms the original Sealed Abyss Artifact into a Faded Abyss Artifact that can be used elsewhere in the game.

How to Unlock Sharpened Spear IV
To start this challenge, pick up the Sealed Abyss Artifact resting on a stone memorial along the western perimeter of Flame Knight's Castle in Demeniss. The memorial sits by the side of the road that skirts the castle's outer wall, so it is easy to ride past if you stick to the main path. Interacting with the artifact adds Sharpened Spear IV to your active challenges.
The challenge has no prerequisite quest or character progression gate listed on the Interactive Map, so a new Demeniss traveler can attempt it as soon as they reach the area and have a Spear equipped.
Objective
Sharpened Spear IV is a Mastery challenge: clear the stated combat goal within the time limit while wielding the listed weapon.
Objective | Target | Time Limit | Weapon |
|---|---|---|---|
Defeat enemies with a Spear Leap Attack | 3 enemies | 1 minute |
A Spear Leap Attack is performed by jumping and attacking mid-air with a Spear equipped, coming down on targets with an overhead thrust. The kill must be the finishing blow from that jumping attack for it to count toward the three required takedowns, and all three must fall inside the one-minute window.
Strategy
Because the objective asks for three kills in a single minute, look for a cluster of weaker Enemies rather than one tough foe. The roads and wilderness around Flame Knight's Castle are populated with low-tier bandit and beast groups that can be softened up first and then finished with a leap. Weakening targets to near-death with basic spear strikes before jumping in turns the Leap Attack into a cleanup move, which is the most reliable way to land three qualifying kills in sixty seconds.
Keep distance management in mind: the Leap Attack commits to a forward arc, so lining up enemies in a rough line (or tight knot) lets you chain jumps from one target to the next without wasting time resetting. If the first enemy dies to a regular hit, the attempt still counts as long as the remaining three go down to Spear Leap Attacks inside the minute.
If the attempt fails or the timer runs out, the challenge can be restarted immediately at the same Sealed Abyss Artifact.

Notes and Tips
Only Spear Leap Attack kills count toward the objective. Regular spear combos, charged attacks, and ranged throws will damage enemies but will not advance the counter.
Equip a Spear before interacting with the Sealed Abyss Artifact so the challenge begins with the correct weapon active. Swapping away from a spear mid-attempt will stop Leap Attack kills from registering.
As with other Sealed Abyss Artifact challenges, picking up the artifact does not consume it. Completing Sharpened Spear IV turns the Sealed Abyss Artifact into a Faded Abyss Artifact, which stays in your inventory for later use.
