Overview
Draconic Retribution is an Abyss Core ability in Crimson Desert that comes pre-equipped on the Drake Shield. When activated, it unleashes a powerful blast that knocks nearby enemies away, similar to the area-of-effect attacks used by the Flame Knight boss. The ability is widely considered one of the strongest shield-based abyss effects in the game.

How It Works
Draconic Retribution stores up to three charges. Each charge can be triggered to release a fiery blast that pushes enemies away from the player, creating breathing room during intense combat encounters. The visual effect resembles the Flame Knight's own signature attacks, with a fiery explosion radiating outward from the shield.
Recharging the ability is straightforward: simply block three incoming attacks. Since blocking is a fundamental part of shield combat, charges naturally replenish during any sustained fight without requiring the player to change their playstyle. This passive recharge mechanism makes Draconic Retribution one of the most practical and consistently available abyss abilities.
How to Obtain
Draconic Retribution comes pre-equipped on the Drake Shield, which is obtained by defeating the Flame Knight boss at the Flame Knight's Castle on the western side of Demeniss. The boss requires story progression to appear (approximately Chapter 7 or later). After defeating the boss and clearing the remaining soldiers, the Drake Shield can be found on the east side of the castle grounds.
Combat Applications
Crowd Control: The knockback blast creates space when surrounded by multiple enemies, allowing time to heal or reposition.
Boss Fights: The damage burst adds supplementary damage during boss encounters while maintaining a defensive stance.
Interrupt: The blast can interrupt enemy attack animations, preventing incoming damage.
Synergy with Fire Builds: Pairs well with Imbue Element (fire) and the Volcanic Eruption ability on the Scorch Flame Plate Gloves for a full fire-themed build.
Tips
The three charges regenerate through normal defensive play, so you do not need to go out of your way to recharge.
Save charges for moments when you are surrounded or need to create distance from a boss's follow-up attacks.
The knockback effect works on most standard and elite enemies but may have reduced effect on certain boss-class enemies.
Combine with fire-imbued Turning Slash for a devastating fire-themed combat style.
