Overview
The Balton Hammer is a one-handed hammer in Crimson Desert. It belongs to the one-handed weapons category and is one of the earliest blunt weapons players can obtain. With an attack power of 10 and a Critical Hit Chance bonus, the Balton Hammer provides a straightforward introduction to hammer-style combat. It can be crafted at any blacksmith using basic materials found throughout the Hernand region.

Hammers in Crimson Desert are slower than swords and rapiers, but they compensate with strong stagger effects. Blunt weapons are particularly effective at breaking enemy defenses and interrupting attack patterns, which makes them useful against armored opponents and boss enemies that rely on uninterrupted combo strings.

How to Obtain
Crafting
The Balton Hammer can be crafted at any blacksmith in Pywel. Players need the One-Handed Weapons Volume 1 crafting book, which is sold by Rhett at the Hernand Equipment Shop (located outside Smithy's blacksmith shop in Hernand). After purchasing the book, examine it in your inventory to unlock the recipe.
Required materials:
Iron Ore x5
Copper Ore x2
Both Iron Ore and Copper Ore can be mined from ore deposits scattered across the Hernand region using a pickaxe. The materials are common and easy to stockpile in the early game.
Purchase
The Balton Hammer may also be available from equipment merchants in Hernand and other settlements. Prices can vary depending on your reputation with local factions.
Refinement
Like all weapons in Crimson Desert, the Balton Hammer can be refined at a blacksmith to increase its attack power. Refinement has ten levels. Early levels cost only Silver and basic ores (Iron Ore, Copper Ore), while higher levels require rarer materials such as Gold Ore, Bloodstone, and eventually Abyss Artifacts.
Combat Tips
The Balton Hammer's stagger potential makes it a solid pick for fights against shielded enemies. Repeated blunt hits can break through guards that swords struggle with
Pair it with a secondary weapon that covers its speed weakness. A dagger or pistol complements the hammer's slow swings with quick follow-up options
The Crit Lv. 1 bonus is modest but adds up over time. Consider slotting Abyss Gear that further boosts critical hit chance or critical damage to maximize this trait
Upgrade to the Bekker Hammer or Thalwynd Hammer once you outgrow the Balton Hammer's base stats
