Divi-Divi Tree
Divi-Divi trees grow in the Foothills biome of Windrose and yield Hardwood and Tree Bark when chopped.

The Divi-Divi Tree is the signature hardwood species of Windrose's Foothills biome. Felling one yields Hardwood and Tree Bark, the two staple upgrades over common Wood for mid-game crafting. The trees have short, twisting trunks with sparse canopies and grow only in the Foothills interior, never on the starter coast.
Biome Foothills islands, not Coastal Jungle.
Grouping grows in small copses scattered across each island's interior rather than as isolated trees, so one chop trip usually nets several logs.
Hazards wolves and other aggressive animals often den near Divi-Divi copses. Scout the area before committing to chopping, because the first hit on a tree often aggros nearby predators.
Felling a Divi-Divi requires an axe, and a basic stone tool is slow going. A Copper Axe is the practical minimum for clearing a tree at a reasonable speed. The tool progression:
Axe | Recipe | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Earliest craftable option | Functional but slow on hardwood | |
5 Copper Ingot + 5 Wood at the Workbench | Practical minimum; large efficiency gain over stone | |
5 Foothills Iron Ingot + 5 Wood | Endgame standard, upgradeable further at the Sawhorse |
A fully chopped Divi-Divi drops a mix of three materials:
Drop | Role | Used For |
|---|---|---|
Primary drop | Mid-tier wood for weapons, ship upgrades, furniture, and most Foothills-era buildings; refines into Timber for higher-level cannons | |
Secondary drop | Foothills-tier recipes and leather refining | |
Filler drop | Common building and crafting material |
Hardwood feeds upgrades across the cooking chain (Cookware Shelf, Supplies Rack), the alchemy chain (Reagent Table), the armor upgrade chain (Shoemaker's Bench), ranged weapon crafting, and ship material refining, which makes the Divi-Divi the backbone tree of the mid game.
Chain reactions work here: if two Divi-Divi trees stand on a slope, felling one can knock into the adjacent tree.
Bring a Pistol or Blunderbuss to deal with wolves before they close on you.
Coordinate Divi-Divi harvesting with a Foothills trip that also hits Flax Fiber, Sulfur, and Foothills Iron Ore: one sweep, four resources.
Hotfix 0.10.0.4.268 on April 30, 2026 raised the Hardwood drop rate from Divi-Divi Tree harvesting in the Foothills by twenty percent. A standard chopping run that previously returned roughly five Hardwood per tree at common stat thresholds now returns about six. Tree Bark drop rates are unchanged.
The change applies to every harvesting tool tier; the percentage bump is on the base drop pool rather than the axe progression. Players running a Foothills resource sweep should expect a measurably faster Hardwood pipeline after the patch.
