City management settings allow players to fine-tune the simulation experience in inZOI. These settings affect the entire city, influencing population behavior, health outcomes, economic conditions, and more. Access city management through the City Map (M key) and navigate to the management panel.
Adjustable Parameters
Setting | Effect | Default |
|---|---|---|
Health Level | Affects lifespans and disease probability across the city | Normal |
Dream Occurrence Rate | Probability of Zois having dreams during sleep | Normal |
Maximum Population | Upper limit on the number of Zois living in the city | Medium |
Maximum Vehicle Count | Limits the number of vehicles driving around the city | Medium |
Karma Balance | Overall moral alignment of NPC actions in the city | Balanced |
Social Difficulty | How easy or hard it is to build relationships | Normal |
Civic Awareness | How responsive NPCs are to civic rules and norms | Normal |
Safety Level | Frequency of accidents, fires, and criminal activity | Normal |
Emotional Behavior | Intensity of emotional reactions and mood swings | Normal |
Population Management
The maximum population setting controls how many NPC Zois exist in the city alongside Premade Families and player households. Higher populations create a busier, more vibrant city but may impact performance on lower-end hardware. Reducing the population can improve frame rates in densely populated areas.
Soul Management Report
The Soul Management Report provides a city-wide overview of the spiritual state of the population. It tracks:
Total number of deceased Zois
Current Karma levels of all deceased Zois
Number of active Ghosts in the city
Zoi-to-Soul ratio (balance between living and deceased)
If too many ghosts accumulate in the city, new Zois cannot be born and new families cannot be created. Managing the Karma of Zois during their lifetime helps maintain a healthy balance in the Soul Management Report.
Aging Settings
Separate from city management, the aging system can be configured in the simulation settings:
Turn aging off entirely (player Zoi only, or all Zois)
Adjust the Lifespan and Aging speed
Default day length is 96 real-world minutes per in-game day
Performance Considerations
City management settings can affect game performance. Reducing maximum population and vehicle count are the most effective settings for improving frame rates on lower-end hardware. See System Requirements for recommended hardware specifications.
