Complete guide to all Scolecite Ore deposit locations in Crimson Desert, including the northern road toward Varnia, southern Tashkalp cliffs, and Hernand outskirts. Covers farming routes, respawn mechanics, mining methods, crafting uses, and tips for efficient gathering.
Scolecite Ore appears most frequently in the Crimson Desert region, particularly along the northern road heading toward Varnia and around Tashkalp. A smaller number of deposits also exist in the Hernand area near the Lioncrest Watchtower. Each deposit yields up to 6 Scolecite Ore pieces, and each piece sells for 1.03 Silver at vendors, making a full deposit worth roughly 6 Silver.
How to Obtain
Scolecite Ore is gathered by striking ore deposits found in the open world. Deposits appear as rocky outcroppings with a faint mineral sheen, and once you mine a deposit for the first time, its location is permanently marked on your map for future runs. There are three methods for mining ore deposits:
Pickaxe
The standard mining tool. You can obtain a free Pickaxe by accepting Rhett's Request outside the equipment shop in Hernand (available after Chapter 1). The Pickaxe can also be purchased from the Provisioner's Shop in Hernand. Equip it from the quick menu (hold left D-pad on controller, or T key on PC), then approach a deposit and press the action button to swing.
Force Palm
Force Palm lets you mine deposits without equipping a Pickaxe. Aim your camera at the ore deposit and charge up a Force Palm attack to break it open. This consumes Spirit energy with each use. One advantage of Force Palm is that you can climb surfaces and strike deposits that sit on cliff faces or elevated rock formations. Be careful after striking from a height, though, because the impact knocks you backward and can send you tumbling off ledges.
Mining Knuckledrill
The Mining Knuckledrill is a special equipment item unlocked after defeating the boss Marni's Excavatron during the faction quest Estate in Dismay. Using the Knuckledrill lets you mine ore faster and increases ore drops by 10%, making it the best tool for dedicated farming runs once you have access to it.
The primary farming location for Scolecite Ore. Nine deposits cluster along the main road in the northern Crimson Desert region, heading toward Varnia. The deposits line both sides of the road in a roughly straight path, making this the most productive and straightforward farming route in the game. Walking the road from end to end and mining each deposit can yield up to 54 Scolecite Ore in a single pass. This is by far the densest concentration of Scolecite anywhere on the map.
Southern Tashkalp Cliffs
Additional Scolecite Ore deposits appear on the cliffs at the southern edge of Tashkalp town. These deposits sit on elevated rocky ledges, so Force Palm or careful climbing may be needed to reach some of them. Because they are close to town, this spot works well as a secondary source if you are already in the area for quests or shopping. Expect to find a handful of deposits here, enough to supplement a northern road run but not enough to rely on as a primary source.
Hernand Outskirts
A small patch of Scolecite Ore can be found on the outskirts of Hernand city, along the rocky outcroppings that lead up toward the Lioncrest Watchtower. This is the only known Scolecite vein in the Hernand region, so it serves more as a convenient pickup when you happen to be nearby rather than a dedicated farming spot. If you are early in the game and have not yet reached the Crimson Desert region, this deposit gives you a small head start on Scolecite gathering.
The most efficient way to farm Scolecite Ore is to run the northern Crimson Desert road. Here is a step-by-step route:
Step 1:Fast travel or ride to the southern end of the northern Crimson Desert road (the stretch heading toward Varnia).
Step 2: Walk or ride north along the road, mining every deposit you see on both sides. The nine deposits are spaced close together, so you should spot each one without straying far from the road.
Step 3: After clearing the road, check the southern cliffs of Tashkalp for any additional deposits if you need more ore.
Step 4: If deposits have not respawned yet, save your game and reload the save to reset all ore deposits instantly (see Respawn Mechanics below). Alternatively, rest at a nearby campfire or inn for several in-game days.
Step 5: Repeat the route as many times as needed. A single pass through the northern road yields around 50+ Scolecite Ore.
If you have unlocked the Mining Knuckledrill, equip it before starting the route. The 10% ore drop bonus adds up quickly across nine deposits.
Respawn Mechanics
Ore deposits in Crimson Desert respawn after approximately 7 in-game days. Once you mine a deposit, its map marker remains visible so you can return later. There are two practical ways to trigger respawns:
Natural Respawn: Wait for time to pass by sleeping at inns or campfires, or simply continue playing and come back after several in-game days.
Save and Reload: After mining all deposits in an area, save your game and then reload that save. All ore deposits reset immediately when the world reloads. This method allows you to farm the same route repeatedly in quick succession without waiting.
The save-and-reload method is especially effective when combined with the northern road route. Mine all nine deposits, save, reload, and run the road again for another 50+ Scolecite Ore each pass.
Uses
Scolecite Ore is used at the Blacksmith for gear refinement. The refinement system upgrades equipment stats across 10 levels. Early levels (1 through 4) require common ores like Iron and Copper, while mid-level refinements call for materials like Scolecite. At level 5 and above, Abyss Cores also become required alongside ore materials. Scolecite Ore is accepted for the following equipment categories:
Jewelry refinement also uses minerals like Azurite and Garnet
You can also bypass material costs entirely by sacrificing a duplicate item of the same type at the Blacksmith, which is useful for common equipment looted from enemies.
Tips
The northern road toward Varnia is by far the best Scolecite farming spot. Nine deposits in a roughly straight line makes for the most efficient route possible.
Scolecite Ore is region-specific, concentrated in the Crimson Desert region. If you have not explored this area yet, plan a trip specifically for Scolecite gathering once you need it for refinements.
With up to 6 pieces per deposit and 9 deposits on the northern road, a single run can yield around 50+ Scolecite Ore. With the Mining Knuckledrill's 10% bonus, this number climbs even higher.
Each Scolecite Ore sells for 1.03 Silver, so a full farming run of the northern road earns roughly 50 to 60 Silver. This is not a primary money-making method, but it adds up if you have excess ore after refinements.
If you are using Force Palm to mine cliff-side deposits near Tashkalp, keep a flight ability or glide ready. The knockback from Force Palm can launch you off ledges.
Ore deposits are permanently marked on your map after you mine them for the first time. When planning a return trip, open the map to see exactly where each deposit sits before starting your route.
Combine Scolecite farming with Azurite runs if you need both materials. Azurite deposits also appear in the Crimson Desert region, so you can gather both ores in the same trip.
Before you start farming, make sure you have completed Rhett's Request in Hernand to get a free Pickaxe. Without a Pickaxe or the Force Palm skill, you cannot mine ore deposits at all.
