Overview
Diamond is a refinement material in Crimson Desert used at the Blacksmith to upgrade jewelry. It is the rarest gem in the game, typically found deep in caves and hard-to-reach places. Unlike more common minerals such as Iron Ore or Azurite, Diamond deposits are never found along main roads or in easily accessible cliff faces. You have to go out of your way to find them.
How to Obtain
Diamond is mined from crystal deposits using a Pickaxe (purchased at the Provisioner's Shop in Hernand) or by using the Force Palm Attack. Make sure you bring a Pickaxe before venturing into caves, since there may not be a shop nearby when you find a deposit.
Deposit Locations
Howling Hill Crater (Hernand Region)
Southeast of Howling Hill in the Hernand region, there is a crater. At the bottom of the crater, inside a small cave, a Diamond crystal deposit awaits. You need to descend into the crater and enter the cave to reach it.
Southwest Demeniss
Diamond deposits exist in the southwestern portion of the Demeniss region. This is the same general area where the underground Garnet crater deposit is located, so check both spots in one trip.
South of Tashkalp
Within the Crimson Desert region, south of Tashkalp town, Diamond deposits can be found. The desert terrain around Tashkalp hides several mineral deposits in rocky outcroppings and small caves.
North of Trader's Expanse
In the northern Crimson Desert, along the road toward Varnia and north of Trader's Expanse, Diamond crystal deposits can be mined. This stretch of road also contains Azurite and Scolecite Ore deposits, making it a productive multi-material farming route.
Location Summary
Region | Specific Area | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Howling Hill crater (cave at bottom) | Descend into crater, enter small cave | |
Southwest area | Same vicinity as the underground Garnet crater | |
South of Tashkalp | Rocky outcroppings and small caves | |
North of Trader's Expanse (toward Varnia) | Also has Azurite and Scolecite deposits nearby |
Uses
Diamond is used for high-tier jewelry refinement at the Blacksmith through the Refining System. Because it is the rarest gem, it is reserved for the most powerful jewelry upgrades.
Tips
Diamonds are always in caves or hard-to-reach spots. If you see an obvious cave entrance or a crater you can drop into, it is worth exploring for Diamond deposits.
The Howling Hill crater in Hernand is the earliest Diamond source most players will encounter. Make a note to revisit once you have a Pickaxe.
Since the southwest Demeniss area has both Diamond and Garnet deposits underground, do both in one trip to save travel time.
Carry a Pickaxe at all times. Diamond deposits show up in unexpected places, and you do not want to find one without a tool to mine it.
Diamond is rare enough that you should mine every deposit you find, even if you do not currently need it. You will need it later for end-game jewelry upgrades.
Identifying Diamond Deposits
Diamond deposits look like frosty, crystalline formations with a distinct bluish-white shimmer. They are visually different from the darker, metallic appearance of Iron Ore and Copper Ore deposits. Because Diamonds are always found inside caves or at the bottom of hard-to-reach craters, you will not encounter them while casually riding through the open world. Actively exploring cave entrances, descending into craters, and investigating hidden passages is necessary to locate them.
Mining Yield
Diamond deposits typically yield fewer pieces per node compared to common ores like Iron or Copper. However, because Diamond is exclusively used for high-tier jewelry refinement, you need significantly less of it overall. A single focused farming run covering all four known deposit locations should provide enough Diamond for several jewelry upgrades at the Blacksmith.
Multi-Material Farming Routes
The North of Trader's Expanse location is particularly efficient because the same stretch of road also contains Azurite and Scolecite Ore deposits. Combining Diamond mining with these other materials on a single trip saves considerable travel time. Similarly, the Southwest Demeniss location sits near the underground Garnet crater deposit, making it efficient to collect both gems in one excursion.
Preparation
Tip | Details |
|---|---|
Bring a Pickaxe | before entering any cave or crater. The nearest Provisioner's Shop may be far from the deposit location, and you do not want to discover a Diamond vein without the tool to mine it. |
Carry torches or light sources | if available. Some cave systems are dark, and spotting the frosty crystal deposits is easier with better visibility. |
Check for enemies | inside caves. Several Diamond deposit caves contain hostile creatures that guard the area. Clear them before attempting to mine. |
Save before exploring craters | . The Howling Hill crater requires descending into a deep pit, and fall damage can be significant if you drop from too high. |
