Deer Disguise Use Case (Longcorn Farming)
The Reindeer Cloak grants a deer disguise that prevents wild deer from fleeing as you approach. The most popular use of this effect is farming Longcorn, which drops only from antlered deer and is one of the two valid third-slot ingredients for the Refined Palmar Pill Improvise recipe (the other being regular Ginseng, never Wild Ginseng).
Longcorn Farming Loop with the Reindeer Cloak
Equip the Reindeer Cloak.
Fast travel to the camp.
Run south of camp along the deer paths. Three packs of deer spawn in series along the route.
Walk straight up to each pack (the cloak prevents them from fleeing) and check for antlered deer. A Poison Arrow one-shots them.
Only kill antlered deer (each drops 2 to 4 longcorns) so the rest of the pack respawns when you loop back.
After clearing all three packs, fast travel back to the camp and repeat.
Without the cloak, the deer scatter as you approach and the antler check at each pack takes much longer. The disguise turns the loop into a near-stationary check-and-shoot routine, which is widely considered the fastest farm for the longcorn ingredient.
How to Obtain (Scholar's Stone Institute Cave)
The Reindeer Cloak is hidden behind a fake wall in a cave near the Scholar's Stone Institute, on the southwest side of the map adjacent to the farming patch. The cave looks ordinary from outside, but one of its walls is a breakable illusion.
Focused Force Palm Fake Wall
Travel to the cave cluster on the southwest side of the Scholar's Stone Institute area.
Locate the fake wall (the texture does not match the surrounding rock).
Press L3 and R3 together to enter focused stance.
Hold R3 to charge a focused force palm. Wait until the targeting sphere actually glows before releasing; if you release early, the wall will not break and you will need to recharge.
On a successful glowing strike, the wall dissipates and the cloak is inside.
If the pickup prompt does not appear (a known early-version bug), axiom-grip the cloak to pick it up.
Other Benefits
Beyond the deer disguise, the Reindeer Cloak grants high ice resistance, which is useful in the colder regions around the Scholar's Stone Institute and the Mountain of the Frozen Soul south of Harnandes. Players who run cold-region content frequently often keep the cloak equipped as a default outerwear piece.
