Sourcing the Bark

The Tree Bark needed for Tannin is harvested from the Divi-Divi Treea thick dark-wooded species on Foothills islands. Felling one tree drops both Hardwood and Tree Bark, so bark runs pair naturally with the Hardwood gathering needed for Timber.

Any axe will work on a Divi-Divi, but a Copper Axe or better noticeably shortens each chop and reduces stamina spent.

Finishing the Leather Chain

Tannin is not the final armor material. The full path ends at the Tanning Rackwhere Tannin is combined with Rough Hide to produce Tanned Leatherthe actual tailoring ingredient for mid-tier armor and backpack upgrades.

Tanned Leather Recipe

At the Tanning Rack the conversion is straightforward. The rack itself is an early build, so the bottleneck is gathering hides rather than unlocking the station.

The Tanning Rack is cheap to set up, needing only Wood and Rope, so most crews place one beside the Alchemy Table that brews the Tannin. Rough Hide comes from skinning sows and boars in the wild, which makes those hunting runs the slow part of the chain rather than the crafting itself.

Brewing the Tannin

Tannin is mixed at the Alchemy Table, the same station the hired alchemist Rosalinda Mercer works at once recruited. Each batch needs one Clay Bottle and two Tree Bark, so keeping a steady bark supply from the Foothills is what keeps the leather line moving.
