The Rally System is Windrose's signature in-combat healing mechanic. Taking damage briefly leaves a portion of your lost health as temporal health, shown on the HP bar as a lighter shade of red. Striking an enemy within the recovery window converts that temporal health back into permanent HP.
Because Rally rewards aggressive counterattacks, it is widely regarded as the strongest in-combat heal in the game, provided the player can execute the timing.
How Rally Works
Take damage the amount of HP you just lost appears on your HP bar as lighter-red temporal health.
Land a hit within ~5 seconds the temporal health converts back into permanent HP.
Miss the window the temporal health fades and the damage becomes permanent.
Why Rally Matters
Unlike Healing Potion and Bandages, Rally has no cooldown and consumes no resources.
Rally lets aggressive players sustain through long boss fights without burning through their potion stockpile.
It synergizes with dodge-and-strike combat loops: dodge through the combo, land a hit, and recover most of the damage you took.
Rally Versus Other Heals
Rally is not a replacement for consumable healing; it is a no-resource layer on top of it. The table compares the three on-foot recovery options.
Heal | Cost | |
|---|---|---|
No resource, no cooldown | Highest sustained recovery if you keep landing hits | |
Consumed per use | Reliable burst heal that does not need a target | |
Consumed per use | Cheap stopgap when potions run low |
Weapons That Amplify Rally
Several Epic weapons have effects that convert or enhance Rally behavior:
Weapon | Healing Effect |
|---|---|
Epic effect makes attacks more effective at converting temporal health into permanent health. | |
Perfect Blocks at maximum Retaliation stacks restore 10% of Max Health. | |
Special [F] attack restores 35% Max Health when the wielder has 5 Corruption stacks on the target. | |
Restores 40% of dealt damage as Health. | |
Heavy Attacks consuming 5+ marks restore 40% Max Health. |
Armor Synergies
Tracker Set 2-piece significantly increases the effectiveness of all healing, which includes Rally scaling on most builds. See the wider Armor guide for how the rare sets compare.
Tips
Rally is weakest against ranged enemies who stay out of strike range. Carry a backup Pistol to secure at least one hit for the Rally window.
Against bosses with poise shields like Thomas Richards, Rally timing must match shield-break windows. Heavy attacks break shields and also land Rally recovery.
Rally favors melee builds because melee lands more frequent hits inside the recovery window; a pure ranged kit gets far less out of the mechanic.
Pair Rally with Seafood Platter (+20 Vitality) for more temporal HP to recover per exchange.
