Ranged Weapons are the firearms players use for ambushes, long-range engagements, and boarding-crew close-range scatter. Windrose currently exposes 12 unique ranged weapons across three classes: Pistols (one-handed sidearms), Muskets (two-handed long-range rifles), and Blunderbusses (two-handed close-range scatter). Every firearm deals Pierce damage, consumes Gunpowder as ammunition, and crafts or upgrades at the Weaponsmith Workshop.

Every ranged weapon in Windrose deals Pierce damage. Pierce is the narrow-profile type that cuts through light armor effectively, so ranged firearms are strongest against outlaws, pirates, animals, and plague creatures. Against heavy plate enemies, Crude melee damage from clubs or halberds still outperforms Pierce per hit, so ranged builds typically keep a melee fallback in the main-hand or switch loadouts for armored fights.
Ranged weapons scale with one of two attributes. The scaling grade (D, C, B, A, S) multiplies that attribute's contribution to final damage. Epic variants of the Reliable-line firearms push their grade up to S, which is the single biggest damage jump available through ascension.

Rarity determines base ATK and which effect lines appear. Most named weapons ship as both Rare and Epic variants; the Epic is produced by running Ascension at the Weaponsmith Workshop with Tumbaga Ingots, and it keeps the Rare effect while stacking an additional bonus line.
Common: 1 weapon (Worn-Out Pistol), the starter sidearm that cannot be upgraded or ascended.
Uncommon: 3 baseline crafted pieces (Pistol, Musket, Blunderbuss).
Epic-only: 1 weapon (Plague Pistol), a plague-biome drop with no Rare variant listed on the public item pages.
Rare / Epic: 7 named weapons with signature effects and a Tumbaga Ingot ascension path.
Every firearm consumes Gunpowder as ammunition. Gunpowder is crafted at the Workbench from Sulfur and Charcoal; without a stockpile, ranged weapons cannot fire at all. The Worn-Out Pistol is famously inert at game start until the player crafts the first batch of Gunpowder. Reliable-line Epic variants reduce per-shot ammunition cost, which matters in extended fights or boss encounters.
Every ranged weapon in Windrose is crafted and upgraded at the Weaponsmith Workshop. Base recipes at Level 1 use Wood plus Copper Ingot; upgrade bands swap to Foothills Iron Ingot at Level 6-10 and Mire Metal Ingot at Level 11-15. Master's Tools becomes a required ingredient from Level 7 onward, so any ranged build should stockpile Master's Tools before committing to Rare firearm crafts. Plague Pistol is the only firearm with Ingot Arborum in the base recipe.
