Blackbeard Frigate

Blackbeard Frigate is a blackbeard variant of the Frigate ship class in Windrose. A frigate is a true ship of war, meant to dominate open waters. Blackbeard ships are natural-born raiders. They sacrifice armor and cargo hold space, but make up for it with speed and the ability to mount larger-caliber guns. However, the durability of their hulls leaves much to be desired. Build one at the Wharf with the right Ship Design plan, then outfit the cannon, hull, naval tactics, and boarding party slots before setting sail.

Property | Value |
|---|---|
Hitpoints | 110,000 |
Max Speed | 20 |
Cargo size | 28 |
Main battery | 12 guns, 24 or 36 lbs |
Secondary battery | 6 guns, 12 or 24 lbs |
Crew | 50 |
Restoration cost | High |
The Blackbeard Frigate trades hull durability and cargo capacity for speed and heavier guns. Boards faster, runs faster, survives less. Favored by pure PvP raiders who plan to overwhelm targets before the target can close range. Pair with high-damage cannons like the Tempered or Devastating line and stay out of 2v1 broadsides.
The hull shape is shared with the stock Frigate, so the gear-by-gear speed, turn rate, and turning radius figures match that class exactly. Hull bracing, hold load, and wind angle still apply on top of the baseline values below.
Gear | Speed | Turn Rate | Turning Radius |
|---|---|---|---|
Gear -1 | -7 kn | -8.9°/s | — |
Gear 0 | 0 kn | 8.6°/s | — |
Gear 1 | 3.5 kn | 8.7°/s | — |
Gear 2 | 5.8 kn | 8.7°/s | — |
Gear 3 | 12 kn | 8.8°/s | — |
Gear 4 | 20.7 kn | 8.3°/s | — |
Construct Blackbeard Frigate at the Wharf after learning Ship Design: Frigate. The following materials are consumed when the keel is laid:

|---|---|---|
| x300 | |
| x120 | |
| x320 | |
| x160 | |
| x80 | |
| x240 | |

Shipwright's Tools | x50 |
Each Frigate carries dedicated slots for ship cannons, hull bracings, naval tactics, and crew equipment. The following items can be mounted on Blackbeard Frigate at the Wharf interface once the hull is built.
Image | Cannon | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Baseline naval gun of its caliber; no modifier line. Crafted at a Shipwright's Workshop without a plan paper. | |
Hitting a target with more than 50% of a volley applies Raked for 25s; all Damage dealt to affected targets increased by 10%, stacks up to 3 (Rare). Epic ascension adds Reload speed +15%. | ||
| After reloading, hitting an enemy within 4s increases reload speed by 30% for 22s (Rare). Epic ascension adds Aiming speed +30%. | |
| After reloading, waiting 6s before firing increases the next volley's Damage by 40% (Rare); Epic ascension adds Hitting a Weak Spot deals +20% bonus Damage. | |

To build Blackbeard Frigate you must first own the Ship Design: Frigate plan. Ship design plans are typically rewarded through faction reputation quests, purchased from Provisioners at matching reputation rank, or dropped by named ships during fleet engagements.
