Ship Plans

Plans are sold by two factions. The Rogue Buccaneers Provisioner stocks cannon plans at Ranks 2, 3, and 4 (12-pound at 300 Piastre each, 24-pound at 400, 36-pound at 500). The Smugglers of Port Royal Provisioner stocks hull bracing plans at Rank 2 for 300 Piastre each, and the five Naval Tactics at Rank 3 for 500 Piastre each. Every plan in this table is Piastre-priced.

Naval Tactics Plans

The five Naval Tactics plans are the Smugglers of Port Royal Provisioner's Rank 3 stock, each priced at 500 Piastre. Unlike the cannon and hull bracing plans, which improve a ship part's stats, the Naval Tactics plans teach combat techniques that change how the ship fights. Each is learned once and then applies during Naval Combat.

These techniques pair well with the cannon upgrades above: Ambush rewards a patient opening shot, while Silence the Guns suppresses an enemy broadside long enough to close the range. No Quarter and Shipshape both feed hull HP back to the player, easing reliance on the Combat Repair Kit during longer engagements.

How Plans Work

Plans are Rare rarity and stack to 1. Using a plan consumes it and permanently adds the target recipe to your crafting menu. Plans cannot be traded or deposited in shared storage after use. If you lose a plan before using it, the seller will restock on the next reset.

Ship Design Plans Are a Separate Category

The plans listed above are equipment recipe papers: they teach the player how to craft cannons and hull bracings at the Shipwright's Workshop. A second, completely separate category of blueprints controls which ship hulls themselves can be constructed. Those are called Ship Design plans, and they sit in a different part of the game's economy.

Ship Design plans are sold by the Brethren of the Coast Provisioner rather than by the Rogue Buccaneers or the Smugglers of Port Royal, and they are priced at thousands of Piastre rather than hundreds. They also unlock on a longer reputation timeline, gating hull-class progression behind faction grind rather than purely zone progression.

Where to Find Ship Design Plans

Each playable hull has its own blueprint article with full acquisition details: Ship Design: Ketch (a main-quest reward rather than a purchase), Ship Design: Brig (Brethren Rank 2 purchase), and Ship Design: Frigate (Brethren Rank 4 purchase). Unlike the consumable cannon and hull plans listed above, the Ship Design plans permanently unlock the hull recipe the first time they are learned and do not need to be re-purchased if the ship is later destroyed.
