Role in Crafting
Wooden Plank is one of the most heavily used intermediate materials on the Workbench. Two Wood press into a single plank, and from there planks feed almost every ship-side recipe in the game: every tier of the 12-Pounders: Tempered and larger cannon line, the Combat Repair Kit, and the Hull bracing: Iron resolve hull modifications. They are also the base of Tarred Planks, the upgraded plank used in higher-tier construction.
Because planks are consumed in such large numbers, keep a Workbench stocked with Wood and batch-craft planks before any shipbuilding or fort session. Disassembling unwanted cannons returns planks, so salvage is a useful way to recover materials when respeccing a loadout.
