Overview
Seed Sparkle Lab published the official Early Access roadmap for Starsand Island shortly after the February 11, 2026 launch on Steam and Xbox Series X|S. The roadmap outlines the major content updates and feature additions planned for each month through June 2026, building toward the full 1.0 release in summer 2026. Each monthly update introduces a substantial new feature or system expansion that deepens the core gameplay experience.
The roadmap reflects the development team's priorities based on Kickstarter backer feedback, community discussions, and player surveys conducted during the demo period. While the timeline represents the team's current plan, dates may shift based on development progress and community priorities.
As of early April 2026, the first roadmap milestone (March content drop) has been fully delivered through a series of patches in the 0.3.x branch. The April update, featuring the NPC Dating System and expanded voice content, is now in active development.
Roadmap Summary
The following table provides a quick reference for all confirmed milestones on the Early Access roadmap.

Month | Major Feature | Status |
|---|---|---|
March 2026 | Lex Woodworks collaboration items, Sun Wukong outfit, firework items, Rednote (Xiaohongshu) collaboration items, expanded shop inventories | Delivered |
April 2026 | Expanded NPC voice content, NPC Dating System | In development |
May 2026 | MOD support with basic creator tools, Steam Workshop integration | Planned |
June 2026 | Multiplayer gameplay launch (cooperative play, island visits, up to 4 players) | Planned |
Summer 2026 | Full 1.0 release on PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 | Planned |
March 2026: Lex Woodworks Collaboration and New Items
The March update focused on expanding the cosmetic and decorative item catalog available for purchase with in-game currency. Three themed item sets were introduced through partnerships and seasonal content drops at Ethereal Styles and other shops throughout Starsand Town. Beyond the new item sets, the March update also expanded shop inventories across multiple vendors, giving players more options when purchasing gear, decorations, and consumables. All March roadmap content has been delivered as of patch 0.3.5809.
Sun Wukong Outfit Set
A Monkey King-themed costume set inspired by Chinese mythology, officially labeled "Great Sage Equal to Heaven" in the Ethereal Styles shop. The set includes armor pieces, a distinctive headband accessory, and a golden staff cosmetic item. This set is part of the game's ongoing incorporation of Chinese cultural elements, following the Chinese New Year Festival event. The outfit set is available for purchase at Ethereal Styles using in-game Coins. Players can mix and match individual pieces from the set with other clothing items.
Firework-Themed Items
A collection of decorative items themed around fireworks and festivals, including firework launchers that produce visual effects when activated, sparkler hand items, and festival lanterns that can be placed on your property as functional light sources. These items complement the existing seasonal event decorations and can be used year-round regardless of the current in-game season. The firework launchers are interactive placeable items that trigger a short firework display animation when the player interacts with them. Firework items are sold at Zerine's General Store.
Rednote Collaboration Items
A cross-platform collaboration bringing exclusive cosmetic items themed around the Rednote social media platform. These items include clothing pieces and decorative objects available for purchase with Coins at Lex Woodworks. The collaboration reflects the game's strong following on Chinese social media platforms, where Starsand Island content creators have built an active community sharing farm designs, decoration layouts, and gameplay tips.
Expanded Shop Inventories
As part of the March content drop, several shops and vendors across the island received expanded inventories with new items. Lex Woodworks in particular received a significant stock refresh, with new seasonal clothing rotations, accessory options, and collaboration exclusives. Other shops also saw additions based on player feedback about gaps in the available item catalog.
Starsand Shop at the Community Center
Patch 0.3.5809 introduced the Starsand Shop at the Community Center, a new vendor location providing additional purchasing options for players. This addition was not part of the original roadmap announcement but was included as a bonus feature alongside the planned March content.
All March items are purchasable with in-game Coins rather than real money, maintaining the game's focus on avoiding microtransactions during the Early Access period.
April 2026: NPC Voice Expansion and Dating System
The April update delivers two major improvements to the game's social systems, significantly expanding both the audio experience and the relationship system mechanics. These two features represent the most community-requested improvements based on player feedback gathered by the development team. With March fully delivered, the April update is the current milestone on the roadmap. Development of the dating system is actively underway, and the expanded voice-overs are expected to begin rolling out in April.
Expanded NPC Voice Content
All 15 romanceable NPCs and key story characters will receive additional voiced dialogue lines covering new conversation topics, quest dialogue, and seasonal event interactions. Existing voice performances will also be rerecorded and polished based on player feedback about delivery, pacing, and emotional tone. The current Early Access build features partial voice acting, with many interactions relying on text-only dialogue. The April update aims to bring voice coverage to the majority of daily interactions.
The expanded voice content will include greetings that change based on friendship level, weather-specific dialogue, and unique reactions to major story events. Characters will also have new voiced lines for gift-giving responses, making the gift system feel more personalized. The development team has noted that full voice coverage for every possible dialogue interaction is a long-term goal that may extend beyond the 1.0 release.
NPC Dating System
The NPC Dating System represents the largest expansion to the romance mechanics since launch. Currently, romance progression caps at Level 5 affection and the ability to ask an NPC to move in with you (see Moving In and Cohabitation). The Dating System adds structured date activities where players can take their romantic partner to specific locations around the island for scripted date events.
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Location-specific dates | Take your partner to scenic spots, restaurants, the beach, or the Chrono Arcade for unique date scenes with custom dialogue and animations. Each NPC has preferred date locations that grant bonus affection points. |
Date rewards | Completing date events provides bonus affection points and may unlock exclusive items, recipes, or decorations related to the NPC's personality and interests. |
Separate from daily gifting | The dating system operates independently from the existing daily conversation and gift-giving system, providing an additional avenue for relationship building. Players can go on one date per day in addition to their regular social interactions. |
Date scheduling | Players will need to invite NPCs to dates during their free time; attempting to schedule a date while the NPC is working at their shop or fulfilling other schedule obligations will result in a polite decline. |
Marriage and having children are has the community has expressed strong interest in. While not confirmed for the April update specifically, the developers have acknowledged these as features they plan to explore as the dating system matures. The dating system infrastructure is designed to support future expansion into engagement, wedding ceremonies, and family mechanics.
May 2026: Mod Support
Mod support arrives in May with the foundation for community-created content. The initial release focuses on cosmetic and decorative modding tools, with potential expansion to deeper gameplay modifications in future updates.
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Basic Creator Tools | A set of modding tools enabling players to design custom furniture, clothing, decorations, and items that integrate with the existing game systems. The tools will include template files, documentation, and example mods to help creators get started quickly. |
Steam Workshop Integration | Full Workshop support for one-click mod installation, automatic updates, community ratings, and mod conflict detection. Players will be able to browse, subscribe to, and manage mods entirely through the Steam client without needing external tools. |
Blueprint Sharing Expansion | Building on the existing Blueprint Library system, modded building templates can include custom furniture and decorations, allowing comprehensive home design sharing. This turns the Blueprint Library into a full creative sharing platform. |
The developers have indicated that more advanced modding capabilities (custom NPCs, quests, gameplay mechanics) may follow in later updates depending on community demand and technical feasibility. The May release establishes the modding framework and file formats that future expansions will build upon.
June 2026: Multiplayer
Multiplayer gameplay arrives in June as the most anticipated feature on the roadmap. The development team has confirmed that multiplayer will be cooperative rather than competitive, focusing on shared experiences and collaborative farm building. Sessions will support up to 4 players simultaneously.
Feature | Description |
|---|---|
Play together with friends on the same island, sharing farming, crafting, fishing, ranching, and exploration activities. Friends can help with daily tasks, resource gathering, and even tackle the Moonlit Forest dungeon together. | |
Island Visiting | Visit other players' islands to tour their farm layouts, homes, and decorations. This ties into the Blueprint Library system, letting visitors download building designs they admire. Visiting players can interact with the host's island but cannot make permanent changes without permission. |
The development team has confirmed support for up to 4 players per session. Details about shared progression mechanics, matchmaking systems, and cross-platform compatibility have not yet been fully announced. The "Drop By Anytime" achievement already exists in the current build, anticipating this feature. Early multiplayer networking code was introduced in patch 0.3.2121, suggesting the technical groundwork is already underway.
Summer 2026: Full 1.0 Release
The full 1.0 release is planned for summer 2026, expanding the platform lineup significantly. The release will launch on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S alongside the existing PC (Steam) version. The full release will include all Early Access content plus all roadmap features (dating system, mod support, multiplayer) and any additional content developed during the Early Access period.
The console versions are expected to include platform-specific features such as controller haptic feedback, activity cards, and platform achievement integration. Cross-platform multiplayer compatibility has not been confirmed but remains a possibility the team has expressed interest in pursuing.
The 1.0 version will also include all bug fixes, balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements accumulated during the Early Access period. With dozens of patches already released since the February launch (see Update History), the 1.0 build is expected to be substantially more polished than the initial Early Access release.
Community Involvement
Seed Sparkle Lab has been actively incorporating player feedback throughout the Early Access period, releasing frequent patches addressing bugs, balance, and quality-of-life improvements. The team monitors multiple channels for community input:
Channel | Description |
|---|---|
Steam Discussions | The primary channel for bug reports, feature requests, and general feedback. The developers maintain a pinned thread for known issues and frequently respond to player posts. |
Community Forums | The fan-run community forum is a community hub for discussions, guides, screenshot sharing, and farm design shows. |
Community Chat | The developer-run community chat hosts direct developer interactions, beta testing feedback, and early patch note previews. Dedicated channels for bug reports and feature suggestions are monitored daily. |
Social Media | The studio's official social media account the official social account provides updates, teasers, and developer commentary. The Rednote collaboration reflects the team's engagement with Chinese social media communities as well. |
The roadmap may be adjusted based on community priorities. Features that receive strong community support may be moved earlier in the schedule, while less-requested features may be deferred to post-1.0 updates. The development team has been transparent about this flexible approach, noting that the rapid patch cadence during Early Access demonstrates their ability to respond quickly to player needs.
Review Controversy
Shortly after the Early Access launch, a controversy arose around the game's Steam reviews. A number of accounts submitted suspiciously positive reviews despite having logged less than one hour of playtime. The pattern drew attention from the community, who questioned whether the reviews were authentic.
Seed Sparkle Lab responded publicly, stating that they did not solicit or coordinate the reviews. The studio asked players to stop submitting reviews unless they had spent meaningful time with the game. This puts emphasis on that they wanted genuine feedback to guide development during the Early Access period. The incident highlighted the broader challenges small studios face with review manipulation on Steam, whether or not the studio itself is involved.
April 2026 Status Update (April 18, 2026)
The April 2026 roadmap milestone (expanded NPC voice content plus the NPC Dating System) did not ship within the month. Seed Sparkle Lab's April development cycle was absorbed by the response to the Content Adjustment Announcement on April 10, 2026, which followed the temporary Steam delisting on April 9. The corrected Steam build was resubmitted to Valve the same day and, as of April 18, was still awaiting re-review. Patch 0.4.8191 shipped to Xbox Series X|S on April 16 with bug fixes rather than new systems.
The Dating System remains in active development; the Level 5 affection cap and the Moving In and Cohabitation endpoint are still the live relationship ceiling. No revised public ship date has been announced as of April 18. The May (mod support with basic creator tools, Steam Workshop integration) and June (cooperative multiplayer with up to 4 players) milestones have not been officially revised yet, though the April slip may compound into the later targets.
Players received a free Shining Star Outfit Set as compensation for the delisting, distributed automatically via the Self-Service Terminal in the Community Center. See the April 2026 Delisting and Shining Star Outfit Set articles for full detail.

April 23, 2026 Patch and Steam Relisting
Patch 0.4.9467 shipped on April 23, 2026, and is the first significant content patch since the Content Adjustment Announcement absorbed the April development cycle. It does not deliver the originally planned April milestone (NPC Dating System and expanded voice content) but does introduce two new live systems plus a long list of UI and bug fixes.
What Shipped in 0.4.9467
Affection Discount system. Friendship-based pricing at every staffed shop on the island. Reaching certain affection levels with a shop-owner NPC drops the price of related items in that shop. See the Affection Discount article for the full system breakdown.
Snail Pump item. New decorative variant of the Hand Pump with its own Codex entry. Identical refill function to the standard Hand Pump, snail-themed visual model. See Snail Pump for details.
Build Mode and UI polish. Painting system controller guidance, Worktable quick map access, Campfire and Furnace UI refinements, Houseboat blueprint and retrieval fixes, robot dispatch fixes, and merchant ship inventory refresh.
Steam Relisting
Around April 24, 2026, the corrected Starsand Island build cleared Valve's re-review and the Steam store page returned to sale. Patch 0.4.9467 was already applied to the relisted build, so new Steam buyers and existing owners on next launch picked up the same content delivered to Xbox Series X|S on April 23. The episode added roughly two weeks to the review window between the April 9 delisting and the relisting; saves were preserved across the rebuild as Seed Sparkle Lab promised in the original Content Adjustment Announcement. The free Shining Star Outfit Set compensation continued to distribute via the Self-Service Terminal in the Community Center.
Updated Roadmap Status
Month | Major Feature | Status as of April 25, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
March 2026 | Lex Woodworks collaboration items, Sun Wukong Outfit Set, firework items, Rednote collaboration items, expanded shop inventories | Delivered through patches in the 0.3.x branch, including the Starsand Shop addition at the Community Center. |
April 2026 | Expanded NPC voice content, NPC Dating System | Slipped. April cycle absorbed by the Content Adjustment response. Patch 0.4.9467 (April 23) shipped Affection Discount and Snail Pump as a partial-month deliverable instead. Dating System and expanded voice content remain in active development with no revised public ship date. |
May 2026 | MOD support with basic creator tools, Steam Workshop integration | Planned. Not yet officially revised, though the April slip may compound here. |
June 2026 | Multiplayer gameplay launch (cooperative play, island visits, up to 4 players) | Planned. Not yet officially revised. |
Summer 2026 | Full 1.0 release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 | Planned. Not yet officially revised. |
The April partial deliverable shows the studio's pattern of folding mid-month patches into the announced roadmap rather than holding all content for the named monthly drop. Affection Discount in particular was a community-requested feature that arrived ahead of any specific roadmap commitment. Future months may follow the same pattern, with smaller feature additions arriving before the named monthly milestone lands.
May 2026 Status Update
As of mid-May 2026, the April roadmap milestone has finally landed and the May milestone is in active rollout. The April slip was closed on April 28 with patch 0.4.9868, which shipped the NPC Dating System interactions for six romanceable characters (Delphin, Zerine, Graminova, Zephyria, Pastelle, and Solara). Expanded NPC voice content is rolling out in tandem through May weekly updates rather than as a single build. The remaining nine romanceable characters are scheduled to receive dating interactions in follow-up patches.
The May milestone (initial Modding and Mods support with basic creator tools and Steam Workshop integration) is in active rollout. Seed Sparkle Lab has not yet published a specific public build number for the Workshop launch as of this writing, but the team has confirmed the system is shipping this month. Weekly cadence has continued without interruption since the April relisting, and content drops at Ethereal Styles (the Great Sage Equal to Heaven Sun Wukong Outfit Set), Zerine's General Store (firework items), and Lex Woodworks (Rednote Collaboration) have continued in parallel.
Updated Roadmap Status (May 2026)
Month | Major Feature | Status as of May 14, 2026 |

April 2026 | Expanded NPC voice content, NPC Dating System | Delivered late. Dating interactions shipped April 28 in 0.4.9868 for six romanceable characters. Expanded voice content rolling out across May weekly updates. Remaining nine romanceable characters scheduled for follow-up patches. |
May 2026 | Initial mod support with basic creator tools, Steam Workshop integration | In active rollout. No specific public build number announced as of mid-May. Weekly cadence preparing the framework with launch targeted within the month. |
June 2026 | Multiplayer gameplay launch (cooperative play, island visits, up to 4 players) | Planned. Not yet officially revised. May rollout pace will determine whether June multiplayer holds its schedule. |
Summer 2026 | Full 1.0 release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 | Planned. Not yet officially revised. |
May 2026 Rollout Update
Three patches have shipped in May 2026 so far. Patch 0.5.1822 on May 15 added the Classroom-themed furniture set, new Solara story content, and removed the Starblock minigame as the structural follow-up to the April 9 Steam delisting. Patch 0.5.1945 on May 17 was a narrow livestock hotfix. Patch 0.2374 on May 21 corrected the Cloudrest Lake water-detection bug, the A-Li and Baili Ling post-Spring-Festival quest acceptance issue, and a 3 Hearts home-entry block affecting Ginger, Nia, and Gust.
The May mod-support milestone remains in active preparation. Seed Sparkle Lab has not announced a build number for the mod tools and Steam Workshop integration as of late May 2026. The June multiplayer milestone has not been officially revised; the May rollout pace will determine whether it holds its schedule.
