Water is a Pokemon Specialty in Pokemon Pokopia. Pokemon with the Water specialty automatically spray water onto nearby fields, crops, and dry terrain, providing passive irrigation without requiring the player to use the Water Gun move themselves.
Sprays water on dry soil, crops, and plants in the Pokemon's roaming radius
Helps maintain humidity in habitats that need it
Saves player PP that would otherwise be spent using Water Gun manually
Powers up the Water Gun move when a Water Pokemon is nearby (with the right food)

Water Pokemon spend energy as they irrigate. While working, a Water Pokemon may get hungry and pause to ask for food before continuing its watering job. Keeping food within reach of a busy Water habitat keeps the passive irrigation running without interruption.
Several region rebuilds list Water as a required helper specialty. The Bleak Beach Pokemon Center rebuild, for example, asks for a Water-specialty Pokemon among its assigned helpers, so it is worth keeping at least one Water Pokemon available before you start a region's Center kit. Water Pokemon also power up Ditto's Water Gun move when one is nearby and fed the right food.
Squirtle is the obvious early-game Water Pokemon; it is also the source of Ditto's Water Gun move. Befriend it as one of your first Pokemon in Withered Wasteland.
Place Water Pokemon habitats near farms or any dry habitats you want to convert. The passive watering significantly speeds crop growth and habitat-condition adjustments.
For the Bleak Beach Pokemon Center rebuild, you specifically need a Water-specialty Pokemon among the 8 helpers; this is one of several region-specific specialty requirements.
