Overview
Lotad is a Water/Grass-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Water Weed Pokemon (Dex #172). The leaf on its head is naturally dirt repellent and will stay clean even after transporting Pokemon that are covered in mud. Lotad is the first stage of the Lombre and Ludicolo family. It carries the Water specialty, letting it water crops and plants from a water basin.
Habitat
Lotad can be found at three habitats, appearing as a Common visitor at all three locations. This makes Lotad one of the easier Water-specialty Pokemon to obtain.
Hydrated Red Tall Grass (#101)
While red tall grass often grows in valleys, it also thrives just fine on the waterside.
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Red Tall Grass | 4 | Found in valleys and waterside areas |
Water | 2 | Placed near the grass |
Lotad is a Common visitor at this habitat. Lombre (Rare) also visits here, so building this habitat gives you a chance to encounter both family members. Available at all times and in all weather.
Uplifting Duckweed (#109)
You can walk on top of the duckweed or jump into the water and float next to them!
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Duckweed | 4 | Found near ponds and still water |
Water | 2 | Placed near the duckweed |
Lotad is a Common visitor at this habitat. Ludicolo (Rare) also visits the Uplifting Duckweed, so this habitat gives access to the final evolution in the family. Available at all times and in all weather.
Hot-spring Fishing Spot (#187)
Pokemon enjoying a nice dip in the hot spring might be lured in with some bait.
Item | Quantity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Fishing Rod | 1 | Craftable or found |
Seat (any) | 1 | Any type of seat works |
Lotad is a Common visitor at this habitat. Lombre (Common) also visits here. Available at all times and in all weather.
Location
All three of Lotad's habitats can be placed in any area. The Hydrated Red Tall Grass and Uplifting Duckweed habitats both require water placement, fitting Lotad's Water typing. The Hot-spring Fishing Spot is a simpler setup requiring just a Fishing Rod and a Seat.
How to Befriend
Build any of Lotad's three habitats. Since Lotad appears as Common at all three locations, it should appear quickly. The Hot-spring Fishing Spot is the simplest to build with just a Fishing Rod and a Seat. Walk up and interact with Lotad when it appears.
Specialty: Water
Lotad has the Water specialty. Pokemon with the Water specialty can use a full water basin to spray water on nearby fields and plants. This is helpful for keeping crops and gardens watered without manual effort. Place a water basin near Lotad's habitat so it can begin watering automatically.

Evolution Family
Lotad is the first stage of a three-member family. In the main Pokemon series, Lotad evolves into Lombre (Dex #173) at level 14, and Lombre evolves into Ludicolo (Dex #174) with a Water Stone. In Pokopia, there is no evolution mechanic, so each member must be found at its own habitat independently. Lotad shares the Hydrated Red Tall Grass habitat with Lombre and the Uplifting Duckweed habitat with Ludicolo.
Tips
Lotad is Common at all three of its habitats, making it one of the most accessible Water-specialty Pokemon in the game.
Build the Hydrated Red Tall Grass habitat to encounter both Lotad (Common) and Lombre (Rare) at the same spot.
Build the Uplifting Duckweed habitat for a chance at both Lotad (Common) and Ludicolo (Rare) together.
The Hot-spring Fishing Spot is the cheapest option to build and attracts both Lotad and Lombre, both at Common rarity.
Lotad's Water specialty is perfect for automating plant care. Station it near your farming area for passive irrigation.
