Overview
Gengar is a Ghost/Poison-type Pokemon in Pokemon Pokopia, classified as the Shadow Pokemon (Dex #095). The Pokedex describes Gengar: "A Gengar is close by if you feel a sudden chill. It may be trying to lay a curse on you." Gengar is the final stage of the Gastly evolutionary line. In the main series, Gengar evolves from Haunter through trade with another player. In Pokopia, evolution is not a mechanic, so Gengar must be befriended through its Surprise in Store habitat, where it appears as a Rare spawn.

Three Pokemon share the Surprise in Store habitat: Haunter at Common rarity, Gengar at Rare rarity, and Zoroark (#135) at Rare rarity. As a Rare spawn, Gengar requires patience to encounter. You may need to visit this habitat multiple times before it appears.

Gather
Gengar has the Gather specialty. Pokemon with Gather will pick up items on the ground and put them inside a community box. Gengar roams your island collecting scattered resources and depositing them in the nearest community box, keeping everything organized.
Trade
Gengar also has the Trade specialty. Pokemon with Trade can exchange items with you at a Cash Register. Set up a powered Cash Register on a table and Gengar will run a shop where you can barter goods. Trades use a value-based system; offer items whose combined value matches the price of what you want.

Tips
Gengar is the only member of its evolutionary line that prefers Sweet flavors. Gastly and Haunter both prefer Spicy. If you are cooking for all three, prepare both Sweet and Spicy dishes.
The Surprise in Store habitat is the best way to encounter Gengar, Haunter, and Zoroark all in one spot. Build it early for a strong Ghost-type team.
Gengar likes rides and group activities, which sets it apart from Gastly (containers) and Haunter (wobbly stuff). Place amusement-style furniture near Gengar's area to maximize its comfort.
